Sounds like you are having fun shopping. Anytime you step from gas engines to diesel, the cost of the unit increases. In larger rigs, other perks come with diesel, including improved suspension, etc. Probably not with a Class B unit.

Hi Jan, We too live in Massachusetts sort of about 20 or so miles southwest of Boston. Winterizing involves draining all fluids and then getting antifreeze through all the pipes. IF still looking make sure you get a rig with a HOT WATER bypass so you can get antifreeze in the pipes without it going into your water heater, doing this with a water pump that should already be in your rig.
Road Trek is a rig that has a lot of followers, I feel personally that they are too narrow for more than one person and for me, too narrow.
My partner and I have a large 5th wheel and pull with a truck and have done RVing since 1999 and before this fifthwheel we had a moderate size Class A rig. It matters on the manufacturer of the rig, how well it is built and how much support you get. There are support groups for most manufacturers. Chinook was the creme de la creme of Class Bs but are not made so sure of parts etc, all Bs are expensive for what you get. IF you are going to be in the rig more than weekends I would say that a small C would be wider and better suited for a couple and if you have animals....
This group and RVing Women, which is a different group are both great places to get support before and after buying. Go to get togethers with women in groups and look at the rigs and see the differences and pros and cons from the owners standpoint before you buy. RV dealers are known to be not such a great group, they seem like your best friend while looking but once you turn over your money they no longer give a hoot what is happening. ALWAYS have the RV checked out by a mechanic you trust(not the RV dealer's mechanic) AND a RV Tech to make sure everything works. IF you are interested I can give you a website that gives you a PDI ( pre delivery inspection ) sheet and you do everything it says and you have a good chance of having a good rig, new or used it must be done before turning over any money.

RVer - you are more than welcome to post your email address if you really don't mind it being public. The posts can be read by anyone on the internet. Not just members. Info shared in pm's is not readable by all. I don't mind my email being out there, but many do.

Personally, I don't have a problem with almost any manufacturer. I've seen lemons in all of them. And good in all of them. I do find it important to look, and look carefully. I'm also of the bigger isn't better category of rver's. I like smaller. Now, I prefer the C for the slightly larger width, and more importantly to me, the larger fridge than the B's have. But if I was a part-timer and not full-time, I probably would like the B's including the RT, which I think is one of the best made B's out there.

Anyone looking at a Class B should also look at the Great West vans. I personally love the Legend. It was the rig I wanted when I was shopping but the new ones were too pricey for my first foray into RVing and the only used one in the make and model I wanted was snatched out from under me. It is similar to the large RT diesel but the floor plan is switched which made so much sense to me. Have your picture window on the side of your entry door, not the opposite, so you look into your cg yard, not your neighbors.

HI. I, too, was looking at Pleasureways (my personal preference), RoadTreks & the Great West Legends. My mechanic brother wanted me to stay with the sprinter-based models if I could & voila! what did i buy???? An Airstream Interstate on a sprinter chassis.
The sprinters are pretty skinny for 2 people so make sure you get in them before you buy one. Since I'm on my own, this one is perfect for me. It feels roomy in the main body where the sofa/beds are - perfect for lounging or visiting without being crowded.
