Warm Friday Morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Warm Friday Morning

Postby Colliemom » Thu Jun 21, 2012 5:27 am

Good Morning all,

Colliemom here. No, I haven't fallen off the face of the earth. Just been busy these past few mornings with some stuff I was doing before heading into work. But I have been reading up and following all your posts here and there on the forum.

Soos, sorry to hear that you probably are going to have surgery. As the others have said, today's surgery is a different thing from years ago. They have made so many strides in medical science. That's probably what has been causing all your problems down in FL. I see that you are having the first wave of hot weather that came through here last week. Well, sorry to say, but there is more on it's way. We've been in the upper 80's to low 90's up here these past three days, although thanks to a couple of storm fronts that have come through, the clouds hung tough on Monday and Tuesday, so it didn't warm up tlll almost mid afternoon. But yesterday the sun was out all day and it was hot and humid. Relief is on the way and we are going back to our more normal June temps. Needless to say, out beach was really busy yesterday. And one of our local sporting goods stores held a "Try Before You Buy" kayak day. That was very successful for them as a lot of people tried them out and they sold quite a few I heard.

Maggie it's too bad you are flying in this weekend. You want it cooler, it's going to get cooler. Hopefully it will stay nice for you. If you were coming up a week later, I would think it might be hot again, as we have our annual Alpenfest the third week of July and seems like it always gets hot when we have it.

Am really looking forward to meeting Judy tomorrow. She seems to be enjoying her driving around up here. Tried to call me last night, but I didn't get to the phone in time. So Judy, if you are reading this, know that I almost got to the phone before you hung up.
Oh well, we tried.

Sounds like everybody's keeping busy. The AK group are doing their thing in AK. Sorry to hear that Mitch decided to head back home. Guess at least she can say she was in AK anyway. I can understand the feelings as I went through that the first time I went north to a resort dad and I stayed at. I was going to stay a week, but the memories came flooding back and i left a day early. Now however, I go up at least twice a year and it doesn't bother me. Just had to get over that hump. So MItch, take you time leaving AK. Visit Beth and enjoy Valdez. Make sure you see some of AK before you leave and be safe traveling home. George is with you in spriit, no matter where you are.

Well, gotta run here. Have a great day all.

GOOD MORNING SISTAHS!!!

In another few minutes I will be heading out the door to go to work. YUCK! Not looking forward to it as I know it will be freaking hot there. Have no idea if I'm doing dishes today or working the front line. If it's dishes then I know I will be roasting with the heat. No wait, I will be steamed with all the heat from the hot water. Well either way I will be well cooked by time I get off shift to come home. It's gonna be an extra warm one today, good thing I put on extra deodorant! :D

Just a shot one this morn cause I don't have much time. Hope everyone has a good day today, stay cool as best you can and please stay safe.

Love to all

GOOD MORNING ALL!

I was so confused by the title of Sue's post, I almost didn't click on it as I thought it was last week's! Or I thought I had somehow lost a day. Anyway, it is definitly hot today, already----92 outside the trailer according to my thermometer, and already 78 inside here. The night was cool enough, however, that I got up in the middle of it and shut off my fans and pulled up my blanket.

The kids have a busy day today with bottle and can returns, a conference for Mandy, construction work for Joe, and a wedding rehearsal dinner tonight, when I will be taking care of Orion, unless they have made other plans. After the blowup yesterday morning between me and Joe, I have no clue what might be going down. I am trying to not harbor any ill feelings, but it isn't easy being a mother or a mother-in-law who cares what happens to her kids. I will try to not care any more and keep my mouth shut at all times. I just hope I live long enough to see Joe and Mandy's reaction when they first see Orion with a chew in his cheek or a ciggie in his hand.

I buried the well pump electric line yesterday, which in the oppressive heat was enough outside work. Then I paid bills and tried to get caught up on reading blogs and posts. I also played with Orion in the cool breezes wafting through the screen tent for a while. I have no clue what today will bring. Perhaps I can clean out the Duckhouse Pub (storage shed) after Joe gets all the bottles and cans out of there. I know there is a lot of stuff that can be either trashed or sold at a garage sale. It would be nice to have that building available again for storage for lawn mowers, garden tools, etc. Or to use for a neat little pub for parties which is where it got its name. Originally it was the duckhouse for our many ducks and geese, eons ago.

I got notice that my telephone is to be delivered by tonight, and I can't wait to see if it will work or if the problems are within the lines somewhere.

Open Roads Singles is out of order again, so hi to anyone who also comes on here. Happy trails to all!

Good morning all, I didn't even notice the day! Not enough coffee yet! But Sue's not retired yet, hope she didn't go to work if she's off today! Soos, sometimes it's hard to be a parent of grown-ups. Many times we have to hold back and not speak up!Hyundai place said I need brakes when I took car in for a recall yesterday, one son who is on vacation still said he will put them on. Always nice to save money. Then a hop in the pool might be on the agenda! Have a safe fun day everyone! Wendy

Sue, are you wishing it was 'tgif' day?
Echo, when fall finally comes you will be in the most beautiful of places and the job will be much easier.
Lori, where are you and Ernie now. Is it 'westbound and down' time?
Whew Soos, you're making me tired, do you take that energy drink...if so let me know what it is. I wish I could get up early and do my outside stuff. I have to do it late in the day. I have a friend whose daughter is trying to get her life straightened out (did time for drugs). My friend has raised her children. I have been having her come out and help me. She is trying to get a landscaping business started. I know there are some who might say they wouldn't do this as she comes in and uses my bathroom. Yes, I know addicts are smart and manipulative but my friend needs this as bad as her daughter.
Soos, if you had a problem with your son-in-law be glad it isn't daughter-in-law. I always got along very well with my daughter in law and still do tho they are divorced. My brother has a little boy that has been like a grandson to me. I had a falling out with his mother and she did everything she could to cut me out of Hogan's life. This lasted a couple of years. Doug made sure I got to see Hogan during this time. Things are great now. I think she had to grow up a little (she's much younger than Doug) and I apologized to her. Sometimes we must eat crow.
I agree with the others about the surgery..no doubt you will feel much better. Enjoy the time with periods or bleeding cause soon you will need 'Poise'.
Ava, you haven't mentioned your healing process. Has everything returned to normal?

I didn't notice the day either but I've been a day ahead all week so would probably thought it was Friday! Hot again today but there is a small chance of rain. They are saying if we don't get a good rain by the end of the month the farmers will loose the corn crops and probably the beans. Very strange weather around the country now, feel bad for the people in Duluth. Have a potter friend there whose studio has some flooding but so far not too bad.
Sue bring in some cool weather for Judy and Maggie! Didn't see whether Maggie got her A/C repaired or not but I'm sure she will enjoy a break from TX weather.
My neighbor said she knows how to wind the bobbin on my old Featherweight Singer sewing machine, hooray. I even have the directions but for some reason I am doing something wrong. I bought it many years ago from a Singer repair man locally and he had just gone over it and it was in perfect condition. Charley loves to go to her yard, she has a big garden and is frequently outside when I take him out early. He will hardly walk to the end of our property but, when he sees her he trots over to greet her and then examines the whole yard like he has no problems walking at all. Maybe he is just bored, I tell her she is good medicine.
Time to do something productive around here. I am so good at wasting time.

I also did not realize that it was not Friday! Good thing it's not, as I would be late for my Friday appointments! Another scorcher here today and I just half-finished mowing the back lawn. I will do the rest tomorrow morning when it is cooler.

The ORS site is down again so maybe that is where I missed all the changes. I did not know Mitch was leaving Alaska. If it is because of her recent loss, I can certainly understand that. A similar thing happened to me a few years ago. I went to Paris with my cousin and we were having a great time. Suddenly walking down a beautiful street, I started crying and said I wanted to go home. My sister had recently died unexpectedly, and I just felt so "far" from everything and everyone I loved. Those episodes of grief for my sister and my husband come at the most unusual times, when I am not even thinking about them. They are fewer and far between, but they never go away entirely.

Soos, I don't know what happened with Joe, but I know it is very difficult to be a mother-in-law. I find it easier to tell my daughter "I am worried about...." than to approach my son in law. He is a great guy but a bit on the defensive side. Hang in there!

Stuff to do today before it hits 100 degrees!

I was a bit perplexed about the title for today's post but thought I had better check it out. So glad I did, Sounds like everyone is busy with life ~ and so are we.

Today it is raining in Branson w/thunderstorms forecasted for the whole day. The breeze feels good and it is just a light sprinkle right now.

Working on plans to do some more remodeling in our motor home. I will make sure to take before/after pictures. Will start the tear out next Wednesday (hubby's day off). Have also decided to make some memo boards for the front of the cupboard above the driver/passenger seats. Hoping my ideas work.

Well, need to get back to work so will sign off for now. Hope everyone has a great day!!!

Got up early this morning after a good night's sleep. Was camped at at a state park in the far northeast of Michigan's lower peninsula last night (P.H. Hoeft). Campground was older and with tiny, really uneven spaces, but found one reasonable one and managed to back into it with about two dozen trips into and out of the cab, checking the nearby trees! Tight fit, but almost deserted campground and no neighbors within 600 feet, so nice and private.

Got some mail straightened out and bills paid last night. Tried to walk on the beach this morning but was attacked by hoards of huge black flies, so I broke all the rules about not destroying vegetation and made myself a leafy switch. No more walks down there. Stopped at another beach view access area a few miles north, and once I saw the flies swarming, i never got out of my truck!!

Now, sitting in McDonalds in Cheboygan, but headed to Mackinaw soon. Taking a slow leisurely drive today and am looking forward to getting with Sue tomorrow.

Sue, I will try to call you again today a couple of times. Sorry I missed you.

Picked up my grandkids from the airport yesterday. Granddaughter is 16 and grandson is 13. They live in country area south of the Seattle area in WA. First thing they said when they got off the plane was "OMG, it's hot". Their mom is actually my step daughter, but we've been really close since she was 5 and I was married to her dad for over 30 yrs. Even though I am no longer married to her father she still calls me mom and the kids call me grandma. My current husband does not understand that you do not stop being a grandma just because you are no longer married to the (bloodline) grandfather. Driving up to Brenham today to tour the Blue Belle ice cream factory. Have to get a Popsicle for grandson, he's lactose intolerant. Then over to Lake Sommerville and rent some jet skis. Have a great day.

Red, Forgive me for being blunt...but are you going to stay married to this man? Enjoy those kids..being around young people might be exhausting but keeps us young.
