Gas prices

Postby JanetA » Mon Jun 18, 2012 10:20 pm

I was reading Beth's post about gas in AK and just thought i'd mention it where I am. I was in Lubbock, tx all last week, babysitting and when I left Brady(tx) it was 3.33. All along the way I saw it going down and when I got to Lubbock, it was 3.29... all the way down to 3.21 in places. Well,, that was a little over a week ago and when I returned to Brady,, last Fri,, it was back up to 3.39... and still is that as of today.

Whats the deal? or is there one? I know our little town sorta gouges the tourists,, but still... just would appreciate a report of this weeks prices from any of you gals that cares to report.

thanks! Janet

Gas in this tourist town where we are at is cheaper than in Johnson City TN where my son is. There's a town south of Johnson City where the gas was 15 cents cheaper too.

I guess here in this town they are figuring that they get so much money from the tourist that they can cut them a break on gas.

Last week was the first week that I have seen it go below $4 per gallon out here, since I moved here.

because I use Diesel have to admit that not sure what it is here in Salt Lake City UT
but the news the other day was complaining about the gas prices being some of the highest
in the nation...thought I saw it some where in the 3.60's perhaps less as diesel is at Mavrick 3.73
now with the card from Smiths (Kroger owned) I could get it for 3.45 although it's high without
the bonus's on the card at 3.85 and don't really want to spend those points for just a small amount
although might need to so I won't loose them

On the eastern shore of MD, it's around 3.33/gal. We are in Lancaster County in PA right now and have seen it as low as 3.19.

In my hometown it is 3.29. We are always about 10 cents higher than towns around us...we are also a tourist's town. When I go to LR about 60 miles there is a station about 3/4 of the way that I always fill up at. It is usually about 12 cents cheaper than here. We know we get gouged.

On the Texas Coast, I'm paying around $3.25/$3.26. A week or so ago I paid $3.19 at the HEB in Marble Falls. It's still coming down, but not in about a week.

dang, ya'll have better gas prices than me, I haven't had to buy any since the last day of May but I'm due to get gas
in the next couple days Gas was 3.87 then and I had my 30 cent discount cause I bought it at the grocery store.
I don't have that many points this time so my discount is just going to be 10 cents, sure hope when I go the gas
is down like ya'lls.

Cheapest gas I've seen here in San Jose, CA area was regular at $3.99 gal. So those of you with lower prices...enjoy.....don't think we'll ever see much lower than what it is now at the discount stations.....

I was surprised in AZ that gas in the Phoenix area was higher than Tucson. Expected it to be the same or even less. Just more proof not to expect anything anywhere, eh?

Some of the differences you may see 15 miles apart are county tax rates. Gas prices include the sales tax instead of adding it on top like most other things.

I use http://gasbuddy.com when I want to search for gas prices. The posted prices are those observed by normal everyday traveling and working folk who take the time to help all of us find cheaper gas. So far it's been a wonderful site for us.
