TGIF

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

TGIF

Postby Colliemom » Fri Jun 15, 2012 6:02 am

Good Morning all,

It's Friday. Well, for those who work with jobs that end on Friday, it's the end of the work week. For me, I just got off my weekend and am heading back to work this morning. Had Wednesday and yesterday off. Seems funny going back on a Friday when I've been having Monday and Tuesday's off and going back on Wednesday. Will probably be all screwed up

I vote for cast iron pans too. I have a set here and they need reseasoning. Have to look up how to do that as it's been awhile since I've done it. These pans have been around for a number of years althogh one was purchased a few years ago. Give me cast iron to anything else. Sure, they are heavy, but..... Used to use the old cast iron dutch ovens during my Girl Scout years and have wanted to go back to that, but don't have a dutch oven right now. I'm glad to hear that there are still a lot of you using them out there.

Boy, the throwing, tossing, cleaning out and what not seems to be really rolling along on here. Everybody seems to be in the same boat. I'm glad I'm done and just living with what I have left. Haven't even got anything to throw in a garage sale right now. Now if I were moving or hitting the road in a new rig, that would change in a hurry.

Heading for a heat wave here this coming week. Time to put the window air conditioners in. Supposed to be in the 90's and humid. Normal highs are 80's for this time of year, so we are going way over that. Will have to water the flowers as no rain predicted. Well, maybe some pop up thunderstorms. Judy may be giving her new rigs AC a workout. And unfortunately her move from her condo looks to be a bit on the warm side as well.

Wish I didn't have to go to work today. Want to get out and hit the road someplace, even if it's for the day. But, takes money to do that and in order to get money, one must work. So..... Plus I am going to a Memorial Service after work for a neighbor who passed away last week. My days off have been really busy with shopping, errands, yard work etc. etc....... And I have a little wood craft project going that I would like to get some paint on before the weather gets too hot and sticky.

Wendy, so glad you are posting again. MIssed your happy posts. CArol, you sound like you are getting better and also getting antsy. Hang in there, things will straighten out and before long you can hit the road. Also sounds like you are in heaven out there in CO. Maybe it's time to move west and be near the family. :)

You all have a wonderful fun day, doing whatever today.

GOOD MORNING SISTAHS!!!

Just a quick post again. I did have a little more time but got reading yesterdays coffee post and that was that!! HA! I use to have a bunch of cast iron pans but got rid of them. Only have one frying pan left now.

Kelly survived her first day. Said that all they did was sit read, get talked at and watch videos. Today they have to do computer stuff to do, I guess there's a lot of it cause she said they have to do an hour of it everyday until it's all done. She ended up walking the last leg of her 'commute' home yesterday. She missed her last stop and got off at another one. So instead of trying to find another stop for home she walked the 1.8 mile to home. It was really hot and humid so she roasted her butt off on the walk.

I work today 9-3 again today doing dishes! UGH!! I want so badly to get out of dishes!!! The lead guy really needs to get busy on that! When the other 2 dishwashers came in at 1pm and I could go on break? All you could see of me going out the door was a blur!!!

Got to get out the door and on the road to take Kelly to work and then me. I hope everyone has a great day doing whatever it is that will bring you pleasure or closer to the dream of road life. Be safe ya'll.

Love to all

GOOD FRIDAY MORNING SUE, ECHO, AND ALL!

Sue's warm and humid weather is scheduled to hit the Adirondacks along about Wednesday and Thursday of next week. Perhaps this will be a good time to see about setting up my swimming pool today. It takes about two weeks to fill it as I have to run the well water very slowly so as to not get the level down to the bottom and start pumping sand!

Echo and Kelly seem to be busy and active, both of which are good for the soul!

As for cast iron pans, my huge one I inherited from my grandmother I think I either tossed out a while back or perhaps gave it to my daughter. My old, hard-worked hands can no longer lift such an item! (Besides, I don't cook any more than absolutely necessary in order to get enough food to keep me alive and active!)

The day has dawned here with cloudless sky and bright sun----should get up from the 35 degree low of last night to the high 70s today. Joe, Mandy, and Orion are due back today, as the parents will be attending a high school reunion this evening while Grammasoo and Orion play! I can't wait to see how much he has changed in the 10 days he has been gone! Cell division is as high as it ever will be again in those little creatures at this age!

Dogs and I got in a brief walk yesterday evening, after I wrapped up the vacuuming of the book shelves in the house and made a path for kids to get their stuff into the house. I must say I did a lick of work this past week!

This morning will be a laid back one for me and the pups as I feel we have earned it. I may go to the leanto and see what I can do down there, but that will be it for today.

Coffee is Hazlenut again and sure does taste mighty good and feels good on my cold hands. So do my fleece pants, fleece jacket, and fleece slippers with rubber soles! I am heading out into the sun to wipe the dew off the chairs and sip in the sun!
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Sue - you tell that weather up there to settle down over the next couple of weeks and act like typical MI weather. We are headed up there to get away from the heat, not fly into it!!!!   :D

Have fun with Baby Orion, Soos.

And poor Echo and Kelly! I can only imagine how the heat is in that part of Tenn. We are definitely in full on summer here.

My friend is having a rough go of it. She ended up in ICU this week with pneumonia and has been on a B-pap machine to help her breathe. She has been off chemo for a couple of weeks trying to get her blood counts up and now this. It really worries me.

Well, back to work, and yes, it IS my Friday.

Soos, I want to be where you are. We are back into the mid 90's again today and humid. I know you and Orion are going to have a great time. I miss the days of having a grandbaby that young. My youngest was 12 this year. Oh well, great grand babies next, I imagine.

Sue and Echo, hope you have easy days at work today. So glad for Kelly and her new job.

Sandersmr, hope everything gets better soon. Will be adding to prayers.

When we get on the road, I am going to hit thrift stores along the way looking for a Dutch oven too. I don't remember what happened to mine years ago. Want it for cooking outdoors. Great for stews and chili on a crisp fall day. Of course, would be cooking cornbread in the big skillet in the oven in the rig to go with it.

Plan for the day is laundry, trying to find a survey for Matt, emptying the Jelly Cabinet and cleaning out the linen closet. Will just keep a few sets of sheets, a blanket and probably about 10 each bath towels, hand towels and face cloths. Need to find out if Mom's bed will be a queen or double size. That will determine what size sheets I need to keep there. This should keep me busy today.

I sure got itchy feet yesterday. While I was mowing in the driveway area, a MH, Class C and a huge 5er went by. Sure wanted to be going somewhere too. Oh well, hopefully soon.

Sue the talk on cast iron skillets has me thinking I will take my store bought back and look at garage sales and flea markets for the real thing. I'm not afraid of someone else's baked in food..how many germs could be embedded in there and wouldn't they be just like my germs.. Echo, fingers are still crossed for you to move away from dirty dishes..I think the cute outfit at the buffet is more 'you'. Kelly is young and there's no reason she can't prove herself and move right on up with WM. Wendy no doubt can be a great help to her. Soos, I'll be thinking of you having fun with that sweet baby. I hope to get my hands on my new great grandgirl next week. I have another one coming in September. Dawn, I know this feeling so well. I live near a Corp of Engineer park and I see them coming in on Fridays. My ex and I did some traveling and it always felt so good to start out knowing I was finally living my dream, just didn't last but the dream lives on. Sandersmr, so sorry your friend isn't doing well..prayers going out for her.
It seems all week I've had some kind of appt every day this week from getting tires one day, brake controller another day, dental, etc so my work in and around the house hasn't gotten very far. I did get home from dental appt yesterday feeling energized and went to work in my large garage. My son will have to move the tractor out which I want turned to the street with a for sale sign on it. I will pull the mh out too and then I can really get to the 'stuff'. I got alot of junk loaded in my flat bed trailer, which I will pull to the landfill. Tony (son) will help me while I practice pulling it around and backing up in my training to pull a trailer rv. He works for First Electric and has been telling his buddies about his mom who runs around the country alone. They are 'good ol boys' and can't believe an almost 70 year old woman would do such a thing..lol I have decided on the Jayco White Hawk which is very light. I'm going to call the girl I've been talking to with an offer that will also include putting a back up camera on my truck, extending mirrors, and a load equalizing hitch. One of the girls advised me to get the one with a closet slide and I did put some more thought into it. However, I will only travel at most 1/2 of the year, I will have a storage building for hanging the remainder of my clothes. On 1-2 month trips I can manage with the hanging closets on each side of bed. There is so much storage underneath plus under the bed and I can fold clothes in there also. The one with closet is quite abit heavier and I don't want to go to a larger truck. My F-150 should handle this one just fine.
Have a wonderful weekend. I will either cook or take my son to his favorite grazing spot for Father's Day. I think Paige (granddaughter) will join us if she isn't working.

Heat and humidity moving in here today too the weather man says, still hoping he is wrong so I can go on the church camping trip. I played Mexican Train Dominoes last night with my cousins and was the big looser for the evening. I enjoy the game and they are fun to play with, we talk and laugh so much it's hard to keep track of whose turn it is and no one cares, we aren't that serious about the game. I don't like to play with someone who takes the game to seriously ruins it for me. I finally stopped playing cards with my first DH as he would always get miffed when I won or was winning.

Dogs are telling me I'm late with their breakfast so best get with it!

good morning ladies
definite plans today...take the old curtains down, toss, and put up the new ones.
went for my eye appointment yesterday, left eye has a few spots of dryness on the
cornea, gave me some extra thick eyedrop gel for nightime and more for general use
and instructed me to use drops OFTEN. He didn't want to do the prescription yet
as the muscles around my eyeball still have a little bells palsy and he thought the
prescription could change again a few weeks as the muscles continue to come
back up. Told me to come back in a month. Scheduled that before I left.
Have so many little things to get done, some outside and some inside and then
of course there's always the car. It needs a good vacuuming as it has a little
sawdust in it from hauling fence boards from HD.
Fresh coffee in the pot, just regular kind but theres cinnamon rolls in the toaster
oven. Enjoy.
Have a great day everybody and be safe.

Good morning! I know it's been forever since I have been in on the morning coffee chat. But here I am, at least for today. It is muggy here in Branson, already have the air on in the office. It is already 73' supposed to be a high of 89' with high humidity. Will probably go swimming after work.

We are enjoying being here in Branson. Last night saw the Statlers Revisited by the Class of '57. It was funny there was a gal that was sitting right in front of me that graduated in 1957 and I was born in 1957! The audience had a good laugh at that one.

Hope you all have a great day!!!

Aloha Y'all. Happy Friday. I got up early so Tyler and I could go for a walk around the lake before it gets too hot. I was really humid already at 6 am. The lake is rally a water catchment/drainage hole that they make look like a lake with fountains in the middle surrounded by big houses with wrought iron fences with a lovely walking path. I am sipping a new K cup flavor, coconut mocha coffee. I love these flavored coffees.

I love cast iron cook ware. I had a skillet and Dutch oven from my grandmother. I used them a lot while living on a sailboat and cruising the Pacific. We were anchored off this small Island in French Polynesia call Maupiti. I made friends with this women with 5 babies under 5. Two were her sisters. Sis had to go to another island to work and was gone for weeks at a time. This island ran a generator for the population of about 60 for 3 hours in the morning and 3 hours in the evening. The dutch oven had 2 lids, one metal and one glass. I gave her the Dutch oven and taught her how cook over an open fire and how to use it as a solar cooker with the glass lid. I gave the frying pan to another family on the island Huahine. I kinda of felt like Thor Heyerdahl or Capt. Cook bringing iron to the natives.

I recently went to one of those antique emporium malls here in Houston and found old and well seasoned cast iron skillet and pop over pan. I'm learning how to cook with them again. I know this pan was probably used for many years to feed a big happy family. Like your memories of mom and grandma making tons of fried chicken, etc. for the family. Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Morning ladies. It's Friday which means my work week, albeit short, is just beginning. We only have one reservation for today but we've been getting a lot of locals coming in for the weekend just to check out the new park. Have had only 3 sites filled this week and 2 left this morning. Both stopped to chat on their way out and hope to come back this summer. So my morning tasks were light: clean out 2 fire rings, check the little used restrooms, sweep up in men's room (swept ladies yesterday). Will work on finishing up my valances today. Will have to put the valance up over the daybed without a shade until the end of the month. At $89 per shade I am limiting myself to one a month. Glad I have only 2 of those big windows to do.

BTW, I have one cast iron skillet that I use for cooking on the campfire. I was never a girl scout but grew up cooking in a dutch over on the campfire. Love to use the cast iron but hate the weight.

Slept in this morning because I was up from 3-6 am packing! I could not sleep and kept thinking of stuff, so I went through some more stuff and did some packing.

PLUS, I already lost something I already packed. I am supposed to take a couple of aspirin a day because of my surgery, but of course, I had packed the aspirin, so I went through 5 boxes before I found it!!! Crazy.

Thought i had kitchen groceries packed, but then opened another cupboard and discovered I had forgotten my spices and baking stuff. I am going to see if I can find somewhere to donate some of the overage in canned goods I have. Then on to get a haircut this afternoon. Hoping my 90 days worth of mailorder prescriptions arrive before then. Don't know how I will get them otherwise, as they require a signature.

A local food bank, pre-school or church would probably welcome any canned goods you want to donate.

Good morning! No goodies here to share. Am holing up in my room since my roommate invited 5 relatives to stay here for the next several days or more! As for cast iron pans, my dad still has the one my grandma used, so I will probably inherit that eventually.

It is cool and rainy here this morning. Yesterday I went to the Fair and it was around 70 and sunny until the marine layer moved in and dropped down to around 60 for the evening. Was glad I brought a jacket with. Had a great time there and will go back on Tuesday for the food deals they have then. $2 samples at all the food vendors! I did that last year and got to sample (large samples!) lots of different things without spending a ton of money or getting too full too quickly.

I work later this afternoon so think I will just hang out here until then.
