First trip in Rosie

Postby retiredhappy » Wed Jun 13, 2012 8:55 am

Carole and I are heading to South Dakota. We've been wanting to go back since our 2009 visit and my friend Shirley is working in Custer at Beaver Lake Campground. That's the first CG I ever workamped in. We're leaving Kerrville on 7/14 and heading up US 83 thru the panhandle, kansas, nebraska, etc. Anyone nearby want to meet up on the way up for a glass of wine and maybe dinner? Will be more crowded than the C but a lot easier on gas.

My plans are still in Jello ( did I say that right?) but sometime this summer I will be going in this direction. I still have a mh to sell, trailer to buy and house to sell but I will make this trip whether the house is sold or not. Maybe we can meet somewhere on the way. I'll let you know if they come together soon enough. I would love to meet you and Carole and of course see Rosie.

Look out world, she's on the road again!!!

Sounds like a good shake down trip to do. ND and SD are two of the states I have never been into. So they are on my visit/camping list for sure!!! And I just know that you will be posting some awesome pics!! And that I will be drooling over the scenery!! ~sigh~

You might want to avoid that area Aug 6th-12th....that's the dates for Sturgis. Unless you want to share the road with about 10,000 bikers! LOL! If you are gonna be in that area those dates, better check and make sure you can get in a cg, plus they raise the rates sky high....we paid over 200 a nite for rooms in that area a few years ago, and that was for the week before the run started. We had some friends in a cg and they paid about 100 a nite.

Karen, I will be in Colorado, Wyoming and Montana so don't know if any of that agenda will mesh with yours but I'd love to see you again and of course see the new rig.

So excited to see you all are on the road again!!! Going to one of my favorite areas.

So glad to hear Carole is doing well , you all have fun. Work a routine where you both don't want the aisle at the same time. Liz and I did different chores and fixed our morning routine for dressing and all, and we were still friends after the trip.

You will manage, Size does not matter in sleeping quarters,it's the sights you see and all the fun stuff, plus money you save to be able to do more.

Just have a Great Trip !!!!

Yep, we're avoiding Sturgis but my first workamping job was at Beaver Lake CG in Custer during Sturgis week. What a blast and loved all the different bikes and the colorful people.

Don't get me wrong, I loved it and I know you love that kind of thing too...just didn't know if you knew the dates for that, I didn't realize you had worked up there during bike week. And yes, it is a blast!! Loved riding in the area!
