Sprint is my cell provider as well.. and even though their hot spot wifi plan is very reasonably priced, that pesky hot spot data limit is troublesome. Fortunately, no data limit on non tethered and/or non hot spot use. This is where pdanet SHINES.
Pdanet uses foxfi to provide hidden hot spot capabilities to your phone. I have the HTC EVO and foxfi/hidden hotspot feature will -not- work with that make/model. If not mistaken, all unrooted HTC phones will fail with the hidden wifi hotspot with pdanet/foxfi. This doesn't prevent net use via hidden tethering though. Just prevents hidden hotspot use.
So unlimited net use is still possible with HTC cell phones just need to tether to the phone to do so.
For whatever reasons, I'm hesitant to root my cell phone and thefore just live with the unlimited tethering pdanet supplies without hotspot. But like I said, this is an issue with HTC cell phones not pdanet or foxfi.
