Hi Ladies! I was directed to your site by a friend and poked around a bit earlier today to see what it was like. I've been RVing almost 3 years now with my partner. We started RVing because some of our friends are in the RVW group. We had such a good time at one of their rallies that we went right out and bought a used popup and used Ford Explorer. That got us through the remainder of that season. The following summer we decided to go on an extended trip to Edmonton, Alberta to see the Edmonton Mall. We found out that having to schlepp stuff between the popup and the Explorer so we could set up and break down was a lot of work! The day after we got home from that trip, we traded the popup for a 25 foot travel trailer and we got a used F-150 - much nicer.
We took one long trip last year to Utah (from Oregon) to see the National Parks. That went quite well with the exception of hitting a cow at night in open range on the way back from the north rim of the Grand Canyon. Luckily we weren't towing and no one was hurt - not even the cow - at least not badly. The truck suffered some damage but we were able to wait until we got home to fix it except for the left headlight.
Our next long range adventure will probably be this September to Glacier and Yellowstone Parks. I've been trying to calculate costs to take the rig vs drive (Civic hybrid). It will be more to take the rig, but I think the advantage of not having to pack and unpack the car and having a safe place to leave our dogs during side day trips makes the rig a distinct advantage. We're hoping to find a couple of places to boon-dock overnight on the going and coming to save a few dollars. We'll see how that works out.
Anyway, I'm glad to have found you all and hope to make some new online friends here.
