Can't you run the fridge on electric? Or do you figure it costs less to do it on propane? Just askin'?

Glad to hear it looks like he's going to take care of you there. But, I agree with others - overtime is figured on each week, legally - so if you put in over 40 hours in the one week, you should get OT for those other hours. If that's over 2 weeks, another story.

The first year we had the trailer I tried every which way to run it on ele only and could never get it to run on ele only. Right now the only thing it uses ele for is to ignite the propane. Believe me, if I could run it on ele only I would jump on it! Ele is included with the site.


As far as I know overtime is not paid until after 80hrs for the two week pay period. I was promised "lots" of hours and was told that I would get the most hours at this restaurant. So just maybe the hours will go up once the park is open 7 days a week? Will have to wait and see.

Echo, we had a refrigerator what would only work on propane...then found out the problem was only a fuse that needed to be replaced. If I remember correctly it was behind the refrig that could be accessed through the outside door.

Not sure if it is just California law or not, but if you are scheduled for a certain number of hours and they ask you to leave early, you don't have to leave if you don't want to, until your scheduled shift is over. One stylist quit because they kept asking her to leave early and she didn't know she didn't have to go since they never bothered to tell her that. Something for you to check on...

Good for you, Echo. Glad the schedule was changed for you. The ladies are right about overtime has to be paid for over 40 hours in any work week. The work week can be Sunday thru Saturday, Monday thru Sunday, etc. I did payroll for more than 20 years and anytime you work more than 40 hours in any one workweek, you are owed overtime for the additional hours over 40. Glad your fridge is working again.

I honestly don't know how many hours I have worked in any given week. I haven't checked. I do look to see what my total hours have been for my 2 week pay period but that's it. I do know that the hours per day so far have always been scheduled at 7hrs or less. One day I got in 8hrs cause they asked me to stay an extra hour. So with that kind of schedule and at that rate I wont be seeing 40hrs a week. Now when the park starts staying open 7 days a week? It might be a different story. But I'm not gonna hold my breath.

I am really happy that I am gonna get out of dishes at least a couple of days next week. So that will be a good break. I was rather ? mean ? yesterday at work. Usually when Craig, the senior dishwasher shows up I get right out of his way and he takes over. Well, yesterday I didn't! He came up to me and said, "OK, let me in there to take over". Well I told him that it was OK and that I had it handled. It frustrated the he77 out of him. He hovered and kept crowding me big time. I just ignored him and continued to wash!!! So that meant that he had to help sort, stack and carry out dishes! I saw him finally go to the lead guy and say something to him. The lead guy came over in a few minutes and told me to go on break as I had to get it in before I left out for the day. Craig was right there saying, "yep, go on break now"! I guess I paid for it tho? When I came back from break I ended up taking care of a whole bunch of dishes left sitting on the table. Craig went on break and put Tony to washing and setting up so that meant I still was the one putting dishes and pans away. When Craig came back and took over washing and Tony went on break I was still the one sorting, stacking and putting away. Let me tell ya by time all three of us were done with breaks I was pooped. So I decided to take another short break and left them to it!!! OH! And I didn't rush and hurry putting away dishes like I usually do either. So that meant that the dish line when the racks hit the end of the table shuts off automatically. And it means that Craig also gets backed up and kind of buried in dirty dishes! He hates that with a passion! Hate to do that but 2 can play his little games. Tony isn't usually to bad to work with. He does get kinda zone out while helping Craig set up to wash but he will usually come help me take care of dishes and carries out the stack of plates. Dora the morning dishwasher and I work well together. We swap off and on doing dishes and taking care of the clean ones.

All 3 of us are on tonight so I will see how it goes. I have made up my mind that from now on I am not gonna rush and bust my butt. And another guy there, the one I talk to a lot keeps telling me to take it easy and to slow down. So if I forget and start rushing he kinda reminds me to take it easy and slow down.

Good for you, Echo, you're learning the ropes. It will help you greatly to slow your pace and your body will thank you big time. Stress is a killer if it gets out of control. Remember you have good friends here for you, just vent freely, don't hold back. I would like to add, many of us have you in our prayers as we do for anyone who expresses distress over an issue. God hears and He will help us as we try to find solutions..we don't have to be alone. This is one of the most wonderful things about this forum and any group. Lifting each other gets results...He wants to see us through our trials.

Glad you were able to work things out, at least for now.

Keep a Plan B in mind, however, in case the bullies you work with cannot be controlled and your boss goes back on his word with your scheduling. Plan B can be checking into other available jobs within that park or outside of it. You might be able to find something at a higher rate and better working conditions.

You grossed out at 414.40 for the 56, less the ss & medicare and 10% withholding and less the 20.00 you said was deducted. No company pays overtime on collective time for two weeks. It will break at the one week if it is over 40 hours and then they follow the same calculation for the following week. This is by federal guidelines not state. You average out 28 hours a week, so should give you plenty of rest time. When you get to the point you are working a full 40 hour week you will look forward to the rest time. Before you go frailing about thinking they have mishandled your check and time, stop and analyze the information. But I would be 100% in agreement right now with what you are getting. Times are bad right now, just thank God daily you have a job and a roof over your head.

I very rarely dissect my check. I don't know if that is naive or dumb? But unless I really feel something is hinky I trust in the timeclock and payroll. I was just saying that my check didn't stretch very far with what I had to pay out. And I did find out today that they do pay overtime for anything over 40hrs per week. I pretty much figured that the check was the correct amount for the straight time hours.

Believe me I am grateful that I have a job. And I'm gonna do all that I can to hang on to it. But also looking to the future and hopefully a better paying job.
