I'm home and reality hits!

I arrived home Wed afternoon. I knew I had computer problems to deal with but felt somewhat at ease knowing I had Carbonite. My business files are also on a flash drive but won't load on my other laptops (yep, I have three). I then downloaded my files from Carbonite, won't load!! I have a young man stopping by the house this afternoon and he comes highly recommended. He assured me I could be rescued from this dilemma...please let it be so. I spent yesterday trying to imagine where I would start in rebuilding the most crucial ones. It is time to do statements. This I can do as I have a pretty good paper trail. Maybe this guy is what they say he is..any crossed fingers will be much appreciated.
Rudy has been very lethargic since arriving home. He traveled so well, caught on immediately to the routine. I think he is just enjoying his bed and the sofa and no movement and vibration under him.
As soon as the computer problem is out of the way, I will start the process of getting the house ready to sell. It is in good shape except really needs interior painting. My son and I have picked the place for me to park on his property. I will get a storage building to set near my site. The market is not hurting so much in our area as it is a retirement town. There are still many new houses being built.

keeping fingers crossed regarding the computer headaches.....i would cross my eyes like Sharon says but I don't think my head could take that...Sharon, well she is a little different.

Other than the computer stress, sounds as if plans are in place and you have some work in front of you and adventures and good plans. :)

Stress what you have to, then rest then get busy moving towards those goals...... Here is hoping for exceptional talent in the computer youth!

That reminds me that I need to do a Crash Plan download to verify my data is getting uploaded correctly. I learned to do that with my mozy account years ago. It did really save my rear having the cloud backup at least twice.

Nancy, hoping all works out. Computers seem to be either in "friend" mode or "enemy" mode so keeping my fingers crossed that this guy has the answer. Good luck on selling. Maybe you 'll be in Fl this winter and we can visit again. carold

Glad you are home safe.
My dog doesn't travel real well but loves camping when we are stopped. But when we arrive home he zonks out for the next few days. I think being home is where he can really relax again in his known safe invironment.
Hope the computer is an easy fix for your tech guru guy.

Glad you made it home safe and sound and in spite of all the rain! I Hate hate hate computer problems, probably because it isn't something I can fix with a BFH!! Hope I get to visit with you this summer, I'll be in and out of Arkansas all summer from July thru Sept. Now that favorite son has finally gotten a clue and is building me a pad with H/U's it'll make for a good fairly central location for me to venture out of.

I am so happy I could jump up and down...the young man showed up and had me up and running within 5 minutes. He was so nice but kinda shy or I would have hugged him. He said he would come help me anytime I have a problem or even a question. I can now do my work from my new computer. He took the 'sick' computer (he says it's most likely a virus) home with him and also assured me I would get another year or so out of it. Such good news, I can now relax and enjoy my weekend and get back to my plans for selling a house, getting my pad ready at my son's, purchase a storage barn and maybe, just maybe I will be ready to take off anytime the mood strikes.. I'm so excited!!
The Alaskan musketeers are growing each day. When Carol joins up I think this will complete the Caravan. Now if everyone will post on a blog, there won't be another dull moment for them or us :o :D

And your wish has come true....well the one about the computer getting fixed AND Carol has arrived! Does look like some rain is brewing so what ever dinner we get to get her may be inside a rig. :)

I will tell you what I have told everyone. I am not committing to be home on any particular dates for the next couple of years at least. With your AR stay being that extended we have a very good chance of meeting up. I have even told my classmates I might and I might not make our 50 year reunion. It's depressing to go to them and see how everyone else has aged anyway  Now you will have a pad at your son's and I'll be having mine built within the next month hopefully. Do let me know your estimated dates. I will meet up with my daughter in Colorado sometime between late July and August.
While I'm at it I want to run something else by all. My house is not upper end, more like a young family home. I am thinking of placing it up for sale with the offer to sell it for appraised value (not worried there as I had it appraised when I added a second garage), let them get their loan and then give them $10,000 to do with however they want. This would mean I wouldn't do the painting or minor repairs. A young family could do the painting and repairs themselves and no doubt could use the cash. This would be 'on the side', without the bank's knowledge. I could give this a try first and if it doesn't bring me a buyer I could go back to plan A. Okay, any of you former or now bank officers, don't you go snitching on me!!
