planning to head west

Hi ladies,
Been a long time since I've logged in, but I do read up every once in awhile :D I've gotten pretty comfortable with my Roadtrek 190 that I bought last March, and am ready to take my first major trip from KY out to Yellowstone; leaving sometime next week. If $$, RV and weather holds out I may go further (Seattle??), but for now just planning this part. I'm thinking about going out on I-90 and would love to hear your input on campgrounds, points of interest, traffic/construction areas to avoid and fun things to do/places stop with the dogs. Hopefully, I'll have a chance to meet up with some of you along the way!

Thanks,
Saretta

Glad to hear that you are doing your first big trip. Can't help you traveling on the east to west route up that high, I-90. Now if you drop down way south, I could give you some ideas on points of interest. Hope you have your GPS. I find, too, that Microsoft Streets and Trips will show where the areas of construction on roads. Trip planning takes a lot of time and, yes planning.

Good luck and keep us posted on what you are doing. As you can see from reading Liz's blog they are south of I-90 but have been having a great lot of fun.

Um, I rarely take the interstates - but I do know that I90 goes through the Badlands - you really should make a stop there. And you can go see both Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse - as well as Wall Drug and Deadwood. You could look and see how far off your path De Smet is - that's the homestead of the author Laura Ingalls Wilder. Those are all in SD - and there's more.

Plenty you can stop and see and do - I don't know what things you like/are interested in - but, yes, take time and make the journey worth it - it's not just about the destination. Or look at it like lots and lots of destinations on the way.
