my creative stuff

Hi, well you asked so I'll try to drop in a few images in this thread. Like all quilters I have some UFO's and some NSYs(not started yet) projects.

This 1st one is my most favorite project I designed and created for Granddaughter Kristen. I name most of my quilts. This is "God's Precious Gift". There are several different types of blocks in the quilt, many of which I drew out on paper myself. The sets of 4 types of blocks each have thier own theme so the quilt story is one of those things you have to really think about to see.

The next quilt is called "Barn Cats". I designed this one for Kristen's half-sister. I counted cats and the number of cat blocks is the same as the # of cats he has.

The rest of the images are not loaded to Photo bucket yet so I'll get them when they are done.

Another created called "Jewel in the Snow" made for a step-granddaughter born during a snow storm in NC.

A log cabin quilt , shown here unfinished. I did not name this quilt.

another log cabin quilt -- my favorite, again an unnamed quilt.

The next group of images are T-shirt quilt blocks. There are 56 I think. I hand quilted/embroidered the blocks sandwiched with the t's front and back with batting. I will join them with woven fabric to stabilize the quilt. I started it several years ago and still have not finished it. I was hoping to do so before New Years. I'll upload and post those later today or tomorrow. I've used up my Internet time now --need to get busy.

What beautiful and creative quilt designs. My SIL is a quilter and I've watched her working on many. I know the amount of time and $$$ that goes into creating them. I admire you. My SIL also makes them special to her Grandkid's interests and gives them as gifts.

As a quilter myself, I absolutely love your designs, especially that last Log Cabin quilt. What an ingenious way to place those simple blocks!

Thanks for posting the pictures of your beautiful quilts. Be interested in seeing the TShirt one some day. I have so many Tshirts from places we've visited that I never wear. I did make a couple out of men's shirts that I bought at garage sales. Great for young boys.
Keep up the wonderful work.

Shelley,

Another vote here for the Barn Cats quilt. That is such a neat idea. I have only made one quilt. It was a wedding ring pattern (or something like that). It was many years ago. I have been saving jeans to make a jean quilt, but haven't gotten very far in cutting it out. Maybe this winter I will.

Those quilts are beautiful.

I'm casting my vote for the Jewel In The Snow one. I think that one is awesome.

Thanks for your comments. I enjoyed all of them but probably God's Precious Gift and the T-shirt blocks the most. I had a lot of trouble with Jewel in the Snow. When I got it pieced it refused to lay flat so I had to press it into submission. After I quilted it, it was better but still I decided it was a design I'd never do again. Barn Cats was fun but in the end I'd wished I'd added whiskers to the cats but never found a method I liked so they are still whiskerless!

Beautiful work. I have never had the patience to work with my fingers (sewing, knitting, etc.) and admire anyone who does. Thanks for sharing. carold
