Wet Wednesday Morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Wet Wednesday Morning

Postby Colliemom » Wed May 09, 2012 5:54 am

Good Morning everyone,

Woke up this morning to a wet drive and deck etc., so must have rained during the night or just recently. Glad I cut my grass after supper last night. Still playing catch up from being gone into the U.P. for three days this past weekend. Sorry I can't offer anything for breakfast around here, but I'm having a hard time finding something for me as well. Frig is bare right now. Shopping after work is on the agenda for today. Will stock up some things till next week when I have my days off again.

Trips to the U.P. was a nice but short break. And it rained all day on Sulnday but that was okay. I went back to Marquette (about 30 miles) and checked out a few things at the WalMart there and made a couple of other stops. Am looking for a couple of nice orthopedic dog beds and liked the ones WalMart has but they didn't have any in large. Might be able to go with Medium, but have to look again. Also made a stop at a Verizon store and after explaining to the salesman about my hearing aids and cell phones, he asked me a few questions as to what I wanted in a cell phone and what I wanted to do with it. Did some checking and found one he thought would be what I could use and needed. Yep, it works fine. So I am now the owner of my first cell phone. Don't plant on using it that much, just for emergencies when I am on the road, maybe some inter park communication and in case some body needs to call me for a reason. I get very few phone calls at home on my land line either, so i am trying out a 99 cents a day thing on the cell. Will only be charged when I make or receive a call. Will see how that works and can change later if I want. Nobody has this number but my neighbor and the RV dealer who has my trailer at the moment.

And they called me yesterday to inform me that I have a buyer. The buyer made and offer and I countered, they accepted and it's sold. So now I will bank that money and see where I go from here. Will be keeping an eye out for another rig, but not rushing into it. Probablyl be next year at earliest. This year I plan to just bum around on day trips and it's also one of those years when you have to pay attention to doing some things to the sticks and bricks. My deck and fence gate need repainting and my drive needs resealing, so will get that done this summer. Then next year I will start looking for another rig or whatever to travel in the following summer. Need to set aside some more funds too. So I'm joining the ranks of the dreamers and lookers in this group for the time being.

Kathleen, you be careful and don't take any more falls. Soos sounds like she is making progress on her homeward journey. Has a GTG to look forward to in a few days. The AK group are getting ready or already heading toward AK. Getting exciting out there. I'm sure Lori and Ernie will be hitting the road before long too, on their journey west to wheerever the wind blows them. Okay, now I am planning a trip west in 2014. Any dreamers out there. Plan to do Mt. Rushmore, Black Hills, Custer area of MT., Yellowstone, Grand Tetons and wherever else the mood strikes. No set deadline to leave or return here.

Judy, you still planning on coming up this way the first part of June? My days off seem to be on Monday and Tuesdays, at least through Memorial Day weekend. Course that doesn't matter. If you are camping close by, i can always visit after work too.

We are preparing to open the remaining campground and our toilet/shower buildings tomorrow, so have been busy doing the last minute things that need doing, like blowing the leaves away from the last of the campsites, cleaning the two north campground buildings and so forth. Things are coming together very well and other than having to do leaf blowing in the playground and day use area, plus cleaning Beach change/bathroom building, we will be in full operation this weekend. Mothers Day weekend sometimes is a little busy cause it's mushroom time up here. We also have our annual staff orientation metting all day on Saturday.

Well, time to get cleaned up, dressed, make lunch and ready to head out for another day. Hope you all have a nice day today, no matter what you are doing. If you are on the road or starting to, please be careful, drive safe and keep a watchful eye out.

GOOD MORNING SUE AND ALL!

Congrats on the sale of your trailer....that is a really nice model and I'm sure the new owners are ecstatic to get it. Happy you had a fun time at the Upper place. Have a fun owrk week opening up more stuf at the campground. We missed you in the chatroom at ORS.

The dogs have eaten and gone to run for a bit in the fenced-in dog park. Now to pack up, disconnect, and head out to VA where I hope to meet up with Shirley, Irmi, Steve, Brenda, and anybody else!

This will be brief and I will check back in when I get to my destination. I programmed TomTom already, and now have to go start the truck and program Bessie, my Sync GPS guidance thing in my truck. We shall see how they do today.

I hope I miss any and all rain and storms, but who knows.

Happy Wednesday and safe travels to all on the roads.
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Yep, it's wet here in Georgia just east of Atlanta. SIL needs the rain on her tomato plants so I won't complain. Will do a day trip today to a state park I want to check out. Tomorrow I will be pulling out and heading for Tennessee. Poor little Seeker is parked out in front of big brother's house. He has no where level here for me to park so I emptied the fridge and turned off the propane when I got here. Am ready to be back in my rig and on the road.

Sounds like good news Sue. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Tis a beautiful sunny morning here on the Black Mesa. Not a leaf stirring and that is great. Did get down a little coolish last night - 41*. Good sleeping weather. Looks like this is a day trip day for me. Soon as I get the pancakes fixed and disposed of I am heading out to see what I can see and photo.

Linda, have a good day trip checking out that park. Sue, don't work too hard.

Those of you on the road, watch out for the other guy. Those of you stopped, have as much fun as you can. Those being a veggie, make it a good veggie.

Not much rain here near the TX Gulf Coast. I understand on the coast got a lot more rain. And they were showing tornado warnings down in the RGV - that's very unusual. Looks like the central part of the state got some much needed rain.

Horizon Seeker - my niece wants me to take her camping this summer - any good parks that aren't blistering hot in north GA in July - yeah, I know! I think I'm still heading for MI for a week in July instead.

And now I'm jealous of Birdie! 41 - I may see that in December.

Morning all, I have plenty of coffee and Toaster Strudel for breakfast. Glad you were able to sell Sue. I know when you get ready you will find another rig to love. Soos, travel safe today.

Went yesterday to look at the MH I want for when Mom and I hit the road. Luckily no salesperson came out to talk to us. I am not at the point where I wanted to talk to anyone about buying yet. Took Mom with me and she really liked it to. Decided to go look yesterday after I talked to Social Security about Widow Benefits. Seems I cannot draw until I turn 60. That's a little over a year and a half from now. Have enough in the bank to pay the bills for at least 6 months to keep our small farm running if I have no hired help. I promised Chuck I would not get a job, but instead would live my dream of traveling. What that means is my time frame to get this place sold has just been moved up to right away. I am working on getting everything ready for a realtor to come and let me know how much I can sell place for. Will use that to buy
MH. I have friend who says I should have auction to sell tractors, implements and other equipment. I don't know about that. I also have to sell the goats and find homes for the two Anatolian Livestock Guardian Dogs we have. They will have to go to home with acreage and livestock. At about 200 lbs each, they are not an indoor dog. Also have to find homes for the chickens. I think God is pushing me out of this house since it is so hard now that Chuck is not here anymore.

Well back to it. Going to get another cup of coffee and then get out to feed etc. if you are traveling today, drive safe.

Been busy at work training my replacement. Isn't that a great thing to do????

Sue, I am definitely planning a trip up north, but it will be after I move, like maybe the week of the 18th and going into the following week. Big moving day is Sat June 16, and my driver's license expires on June 18, so I will not be able to get out of Ohio until late that day because I will have to get a new Ohio license. I was thinking of making a reservation at your park. Will talk to you more later.

Mostly sunny today and looking forward to a very pleasant weekend in a couple of days. Need to get more packing done. OK, I know I keep saying that, but I am REALLY lazy and need to get myself motivated!

Dawn it is so wonderful that Chuck supported your dreams. I hope it helps give you the strength to manage all the decisions and details that lie before you regarding the farm and its inhabitants and equipment.... just remember one step at a time and yes the goal will be yours (and your Mom's :) )
