Hey, shut up. One time, I was nice. Back on a hot summer day in, let's see - 1983, I think.

Get that total clean bill of health, you'll be around to raise Cain for many years. Giving up smoking was very, very hard for me. My husband and I smoked the same brand and he would only buy a pack at a time when we were traveling. He always got the last cigarette so I decided I'd show him...I quit and it was so liberating. My advice is put the money in a jar, treat yourself to a regular massage or whatever makes you feel special!

Good luck with the smoking! Mark is back smoking again. He gave it up after the heart attack. I guess it's going to take another incident like that to get him to quit for good.

I'm so pleased to hear about your good test results. Hope all the rest are good too, but more importantly that you are feeling good. Smoking is a very difficult addiction to break, but I know with the determination you have, you can do it. And you will never regret it. May the effort afford you many more years of healthy traveling.

Sharon, Lori, and anyone else trying to quit...just keep trying! I've been trying for quite a few years now, and I think I've finally got it done! It sure isn't easy...I think I just got tired of trying!

Every time I've tried to quit smoking I get a little cranky and out of sorts....most people tell me to have a cigarette. I've considered trying Chantix, but everyone I know that has tried it really had issues with it. I tried hypnosis but he wasn't able to put me under and said that some people are just too strong willed to be hypnotized...well if I'm so damn strong willed why can't I quit by myself? Actually it was the 4th time that someone tried to hypnotize me. One woman who did it for lounge acts and post prom parties tried three different times..never had any success!

Boy, and I thought Ava, Vickie and I were the only ones on here that smoked! Lots of you guys coming out of the closet! Tried the hypnotist 3 times, the first time worked great, but Jack was still smoking and I eventually went back. Really weird, after I went back to smoking, for about 3 months, I'd go to the store to get cigarettes and then pick up milk or bread or something and forget to buy the smokes! The next 2 were useless and I can't find the gal that did the first one. Quit on my own for 6 months a few years ago and am still kicking myself in the arse for going back. No issues with the Chantrix, actually I liked it, it was the first time I dreamed of Jack since he passed, but it didn't work. I may go back and revisit that one, think I did it wrong.
Thanks for all of the comments and moral support, sure is good to know all ya'll have my back!

Glad to hear that the tests are coming back negative. Here's to good news on the rest. Sharon, don't forget about food allergies. Allergies can come up at any time. My niece was having a terrible time with stomach issues (to be polite). We narrowed it down to honey. She stopped having anything with honey and no more problems. Hopefully it will be that easy to figure out.

I was a long time smoker and tried to quit about 4 times. Finally just did and have been a non smoker for 11 years. I do have to say that I enjoyed it and miss it every day. I know, not what you needed to hear. But I did quit and am dealing with the desire. Linda

Just keep on getting those good test results. Then we will blame it on getting a bug bite while traveling. You still have the best tests to come. Then if you don't have the annual, 3 year, 5 year, etc. tests done we will yell at you.

Now about that smoking habit you got. You know it's not a matter of wanting to quit. It is a matter of what motivates you. For me it was money. I quit in 1981 and it was by hypnosis. The money factor...the state, OK, raised the tax 3 cents a pack up to 68 cents per pack. Well the vending machines could not accommodate that so they changed the price to 70 cents per pack. That made the over the counter folks raise their price too. Went from 6.50 a carton to 7.00 a carton in one fell swoop. Why increase tax...wanted to build a highway - Gov. George Nigh's Northwest Passage. I drove on that highway on my way up through northwest Oklahoma. Got a big kick out of those signs posted on the highway. Was fondly thanking him for that move because I have save a tremendous amount of money on ciggies. I expect many of my current health issues are directly related to that former habit. My sister went at the same time but went back to smoking 6 weeks later. However, she did finally cold turkey about 2 years ago. She says a day doesn't go by that she doesn't want a smoke. But 2 months after she quit, was the first time that I ever talked to her that she wasn't coughing or clearing her throat that I can ever remember.

Check with the cardio guy doing your work up. He will be your best bet. Your life will so much freer and the second hand smoke issue will go away. It's hard, but you can do it.

Anyone who wants to try hypnosis for smoking and would like to try it on Skype just let me know. I would be glad to work with you. It doesn't always work for everyone but it's free and has no side effects except feeling very relaxed.

I really screwed up here, girls. When I said the 2 hypnotists after the first one didn't work, I forgot BJ worked on me last year in Ar. It was the 2 BEFORE BJ. I firmly believe that if she had had the time to give me a couple of more sessions that it would have worked. I was so close and so relaxed after our session. She really is great and knows exactly what she's doing, and several of the girls that got treatments at the GTG can attest to that. BJ, I'm so sorry, didn't mean to include you in that post. CRS is my only excuse.

Whew, Sharon, glad it wasn't me! I wish we had been able to do a couple more sessions before the attack of the ants!
