Tuesday, April 24th

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Tuesday, April 24th

Good Morning all,

Breakfast is already in tummy. I have some eggs and sausage here if anybody's hungry. Just finished up the bacon, sorry. And my bread supply is low right now. Some kitchen this is  Gotta go shopping after work today. My friend Brenda will be here on Thursday, so need to pick up some stuff to make a 7 layer salad and also some foiled dinners for supper that night. We will worry about Friday when it gets here. She's going to bum around while I"m at work.

Had a surprise when we got to work yesterday mornng. Turns out somebody or somebodies broke into HQ over the weekend and headed right for the safe in the bosses office. The broke in through the front door and then into his office and went and got one of our crowbards and forced open the safe that was in there as it wasn't one of those heavy steel things. Only got $170 out of it cause that's tall that was in it. Also swiped the jar we were putting money in for pop which was on the fridge in the breakroom. Put the crowbar back on one of the gators before they left. Also went through the lockers where the Rangers keep their clothes and stuff. Otherwise they bothered nothing else and we had a workshop full of tools, office full of computers and radios and so forth. I think it's suspicious as somebody seemed to know their way around there. But it cost us a small fortune to fix things behind them cause we needed a new door, and also had to change the locks to all the other doors in the building plus our cold storage building (shovels, rakes and hand tools, plus tractor. lawn mowers etc. are stored in there), and also to our camp office. And a new much stronger and secure safe.
Be interesting to see if they catch whom ever did it.

So today, the bosses have to attend meetings and the rest of us are going to work trying to clean up some leaves and stuff down by the day use/beach area. There's a strong N/NW wind blowing right into shore there, so not sure how far we will get. We are getting the wrap around from the big east coast storm. Hope those of you who are out that way are doing okay in the rain, snow, wind and what not, that you haven't lost power or anything.

So, I"m off to fix lunch and hit the road for the park. Have a wonderful day all.

Good morning all.

Sorry Sue to hear about the break-in. Sounds like opportunists just after cash. It's a shame though.

Nan and I are all done yard-saling for now. Today she goes in for a minor surgical procedure at the hospital, and I will be her designated "Licensed" driver. I will stay with her until Friday when I should finally be able to renew my RV registration, then I'm on my way to Alaska! (By way of Carol's, then Mitch's, etc.

Chilly morning here in Florida, but that's good. I don't like 90 degree humid weather. Let that come after I leave. Hope everyone has a great day!

Morning ladies!

Just now having my oatmeal and reading posts. Sorry about the break in Sue. The office here is lucky they've never had a break in and I hope their luck continues.

Liz I'm glad you're there for Birdie during her procedure. It's amazing to me how we solo women on the road find ways to get things done. When I told the others here about my need for a biopsy the other woman workcamper who only met me in December when we started working here insisted she would go along with me for support. I didn't think I needed anyone but it was nice to have someone drive me home as I was exhausted by the end of that. Her name is Linda. She is from Snellville, GA and travels in a 5er with her husband. I have told her about the forum and I hope she joins us. She is a great lady and her husband is a peach.

Speaking of work, I'd better go get dressed as we have cabins to clean and kayaks to get ready.

Have a great day everyone.

Good morning !! Haven't had much time for the forum, so hope you're all ok, staying well and having fun. I called the ad in for my yard sale, Fri and Sat., now to finish getting everything down to my cabin. I am having an inside sale, that way what doesn't sell, I close the door and it waits until the next one. I have loads of stuff, more then half still has to be hauled down to the cabin, which is a ways, at least its down hill  Not all will get priced, but then someone who would like it, could pick their own price. Just talked to the neigbor and one of her boys will come over and get some things out of one of my outdoor sheds for me. Its creepy in there, so much stuff, and no one is ever home over there, so don't want to run into a snake here all by myself, besides its quite a ways to haul some of that stuff, and a wee bit of help will surely be appreciated :D

Sue, thats terrible about the damage and loss that your CG has suffered. Its always so sad to hear that someone sinks to stealing others property.

Need to get moving around here, can't let myself set that much, have a tendency to want to do more and then more etc.

Have a great day everyone, do something nice for yourself, and Nan, hoping all gets wired right for you

Take care, Safe travels wished for those on the road,

CArol :)

good morning ladies
coffee is done, just need to get dressed and then get over to daughters to go to hospital with her for this procedure this morning.
She expects it to just take an hour but I suspect it will be more than that.
Hopefully our 3 day heat wave has stopped for now. I'm just not ready for that but we have rain predicted for Thursday, bring it on :D
What a shame about the break in at the campground, certainly someone that knew the money was there.
Off to get dressed, looking forward to meeting up with Beth sometime later on today :D

' Morning, everyone -
Sorry to hear about your break-in, Sue. I hope that it isn't an inside job; it can be very demoralizing to discover that someone you work with did something like that.
Thanks, Ava, for mentioning the weather - what you get we get next, and I haven't checked the forecast lately. I have a lot of cardboard outside that I'll want to get in before the rain trundles our way.
My husband, who is of a scientific bent, says that we are on the "event horizon" of pulling up stakes and leaving. He's a bit optimistic, I think - there is still a lot to be done, but it is true that most of the major stuff has been taken care of and now we're down to the dregs and necessities. It feels like we've been chugging up the crest of the roller coaster and will be almost at the top very soon. Wheeee! :o

GOOD MORNING SISTAHS!!!

The park is closed today it's a day off for me. YAY! Have tomorrow off too. Double YAY! Good thing too as I took a fall off the set of steps at the door. :o Took Shade out for her last P of the day and while I was turning around to shut the door I got off balance. Snapped part of the inside of the door handle off trying to catch myself. Didn't help that's for sure. Thankfully I didn't hurt it but my ankle twisted and I went kinda backwards/sideways and down. My left butt cheek caught the corner of the bottom step so it is sure sore and my right elbow hit the ground or maybe a rock so that is really sore. I'm really, really lucky tho that my head didn't connect with the picnic table. As I went down I felt the edge of the table brush my skull. Whew!!! Scared the billy-be-jeebers out of Kelly tho. Scared me too. This happened after midnight so had I really gotten hurt I could have yelled and screamed for help. But had I gotten knocked out I would have laid there for a while. And it was cold out there so that would not have been fun. Think I will be just a little more careful on those steps from now on. ;)

Nothing planned for today but I'm thinking I might talk Kelly into going to the park tomorrow. Just kinda wander around and see what all is going on there "outside" of restaurant where I work. Just maybe the next time someone asks me where something is I might be able to help them.  All month long they have has "Festival of Nations" at the park and I would like to see a couple of the shows there. Don't have much time left as it's all over the end of this month.

Sue it sure sounds like someone who had knowledge of the layout did the break in! Hope they catch whoever it was. Hate it that people feel that they have to steal someone elses stuff, things and money.

OK Ladies I am off here to go read and maybe catch up on your doings. Have a great day doing whatever it is that your gonna do, hope the weather is good for ya all and while your having fun stay safe.

Love to all

Yikes, Echo! Glad you are ok.

And Sue - does sound like someone familiar with the layout.

Gorgeous weather here right now. I had to pick up a friend at the airport last night and it was nice to be able to roll down the windows and just enjoy the breeze at the cell phone lot. And I'm glad to have her home. She, Beth and I are all good friends so she can be my anchor and I can hopefully be hers as we go on this journey of cancer treatments with Beth. We are both mad at the situation and angry with Beth for waiting so long to seek treatment. Don't know if it would have impacted the final outcome but the situation might not would have been so bleak as it is now.

So for my PSA - please ladies, get your preventive checkups - mammos, colonoscopies, etc. And when you think you have a problem, please get it checked out!!!

GOOD MORNING ALL!

Sue, what a scary thing to have your campground broken into----by someone who definitely knew the layout of the place. Do they have any suspects in mind? Sure hope they track him/her down and nab them.

Echo, thank heavens you didn't do any more damage than you did! At least no broken ribs to suffer through and that would perhaps but a stop in your working for a while! Be careful, girl!

I can feel Liz's desire to get moving on the road to the big Alaska trek! I hope to see you when you next back down here to the sunny state, or perhaps up north again when you visit VT. I will most definitely be watching your blog reports daily!

Carol, I hope your yard/cabin sale goes smoothly, and I will be watching to notice what sells, as Mandy and I are holding a yard sale at my northern house this summer, too. I am not looking ofrward to that event! What doesn't sell there will get hauled to the local dump.

It is very cool down here in the sunny state, too----was in the upper 40s earlier....broke records for coolness all over this area. It still feels warm enough for me to go barefooted in the yard and leave the front door open, however. I do miss the heat as I want to spend my last two weeks here swimming as much as possible. By the weekend, it's supposed to hit the high 80s again, and possibly the 90s-----YAY!

As soon as my son calls to tell me I can once again go to the trailer and make last minute trek preparations, I will head over there for a while. (He wants to suffer alone for his first few days of hernia-repair recovery----Mommy not needed or wanted, it seems! Sniff!) Then I will cart stuff I don't wish to haul down the road back here and close this house up for summer heat. I must say I will miss all the great advantages of living where stores are close, I can ride my bike, swim, talk to neighbors, have my lawn mowed for me and my garbage picked up....sigh! Back to my rough life in the mountains where everything that needs doing I will do while I am getting attacked by voracious blood-sucking bugs! I am sure looking forward to getting my hands on Orion!!

Coffee is hot, although I don't seem to have any goodies to go with it this morning. I guess I'll make me an egg McSusan soon! Happy Tuesday!

Good morning all!! Sue - sure sounds like an "inside" job at the campground. Can't believe the things some people will do.

Echo - bet you've got some bruises though! Be careful.

Have a great day everyone.

Sue, sorry to hear about the break-in. They do more damage than they end up stealing. Alarm systems and cameras aren't that expensive anymore so they might need to install something. Of course, some of the pictures they show on TV of robbers aren't very good. I don't think I would recognize myself in some of them.

Echo, you better be careful with those steps. I have taken a header out the side door. I try to always have a hand on one of the rails, either inside or out when I go down the steps. I forget to carry a flash light and some of these campgrounds are dark. I head out across our backyard in the dark and think of snakes when I get in the middle. Then I don't know whether to keep going or turn around. lol

Our weather has been so nice the last couple of days. Sunny and not too hot. Last night it got pretty cool but never did turn on the heat.

I am waiting on a part to fix my DH's lift chair. I sure hope all it needs is the control replaced. He was looking at a new chair that was $1,500. A $46 part would sure be better. We have the adjustable beds and the last time one broke they just sent the part and I had to install it. Since when did I get to be the handyman.

Wow! I slept 12 hours after 2 nine hour work days!

We have cameras at work, 6 of them, in color! And they aren't for theives, they are for the owners to monitor us! :o  It is very uncomfortable to know "Big Brother" is watching us all the time.

Gotta get up and ready for another day at work, luckily only 6 hours today. Better call my dad before I leave since I haven't talked to him for a couple weeks.

Hope you all have a good day! Ava, have a great GTG with Beth!

Working in a casino I got very used to cameras. And having owned stores - we learned we lost more to employees than to outside thieves - very sad, isn't it. I actually ended up having to have someone I considered a good friend arrested for stealing from us. It was very, very hard. I would have GIVEN her the money- but she never would admit she needed it (her husband was drinking all their money away). I do agree from what you said, Sue, that it sounds like someone who knows a little more than most - hate to say it might be one of your fellow workers.

I got to the Phoenix area today. I waved to downtown Phoenix as I drove right on by. And I splurged for this campground which was so highly recommended. It's more like a state park - in Fountain Hills - which is a neat little town. I'm going to be so busy seeing folks for the 2 days here - I'm not sure how much time I'll have to enjoy where I'm staying. BUT I intend to be back for tonight's sunset which I expect to be awesome. Then, if only I could get myself out of bed in time for sunrise!

Have a great day all. What's left of it.

Sue, in the UK, they have cameras everywhere, especially in London and at intersections in the country. However, because cameras are expensive, not all of them are real, but you can never tell which ones are real and which ones are fake.

Maybe a wooden box with a small hole in it could be attached inside the office late one night and a suggestion made that it was a new camera. It would have to be put up high enough to prevent tampering.

Cheap and might deter a thief, particularly an inside one.
