Quiet Sunday in April

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Quiet Sunday in April

Postby BirdbyBird » Sun Apr 22, 2012 7:17 am

Quiet around here. My insides have been fighting some intestinal stuff. Wasn't enough to keep me from working this past week but has been enough to make me want to hibernate this weekend so that I might have the energy to head back out on Monday and work for another week. :) The coffee is on the goodies are on the counter. I am sure you can find what ever your taste buds are hankering for. Hope everyone has a great day. Travel safe Kathleen..... I am going to pay some bills on line. Fill in some documentation on my budget records and if I have enough energy I might go back down to the Apple Store and look at those iPad again. :)

Whether your journey today takes you down highways or through the great mysteries of the heart may you all go safely and find some beauty and joy around you.

Good morning Tina & everyone!

Tina, I hope you're feeling better real soon!

It's raining in MD and we need it! We're five inches below normal for this time of the year, so I'm glad we're finally getting some precip. There are winter warnings for the western part of the state with a chance of 2 - 4 inches of snow.

We got caught up on the yardwork yesterday and also got a good bit of wood cut, knowing we'd be using the woodstove for the next few days. I'm getting ready to put a pot of pea soup on for dinner, which will help keep the chill off.

Kathleen, be safe on the roads, and to everyone else, please take care!

GOOD MORNING TINA, IRMI, AND ALL!

We had a noisy night last night with thunderstorms accompanied by wind most of the night----a good soaking rain on and off. This morning it's still overcast, showers are possible until this afternoon. Perhaps today I'll get to take the dogs for a walk to Shingle Creek when it clears up. I am very thankful I am not leaving today for the northern home....like Shirl says, it's snowing back there, and it's not a good day for driving down here. Two more whole weeks to get my mind ready for the road, and my trailer ready for the road. I will try my tire pressure monitors once again, to see if they will record the proper tire pressures and not allow air to leak. It would be nice to know what the pressures are as I travel over the miles. I am also glad to be here for my son's hernia surgery, as I would worry from afar.

This week, toward the end of the week, I will move all the rest of the stuff to the trailer, other than the dog hut for Dinah that I use at night here----that will be the last thing I put into the trailer. The rest of my clothing, dog's toys and meds, my desk chair that I will carry in the basement hold along with my lounger....all will get packed. I'll try the tire pressure monitor things, make sure the tires are inflated properly, get the propane tank filled. In between, I will try riding my bike around here so I can build up some lost srength since I got hurt. And I'll also swim daily. Then go through my check list for closing this place up and head for St. Cloud toward the middle of the week following this upcoming one.

Tina I hope you end up feeling better today and can do some fun stuff.

Irmi, I actually miss sitting around a wood stove now and then-----just not all winter when it's below zero out there! Am looking forward to sitting around a campfire in Fredericksburg, if they will allow one. I am getting excited to see you again, and to meet Shirl and possibly Paulette!

In lieu of a stove fire today, I hope to go swimming if the sun comes out later!

Hope you all have a great Sunday wherever you are and whatever you are doing.
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Good morning Ladies, gloomy looking outside this morning, but I am in good spirits as yesterday I accomplished quite a lot towards being ready for my yard sale this next week end. I will have quite a lot of this clutter ready for a sale, but have realized I have so much stuff, its impossible to have it all in one sale. I managed to mow the whole yard Friday before rain hit here and it looks good out there, not growing all that fast so may only be one more mowing for me before I leave. I don't know where the ambition came from, but sure am Thankful for it  :o

The plans (in jello) are yard sale next wk end and then a few errands for Ak trip, and then I'm off. I will not be able to put the house on the market before leaving, just too much to do and when I realized that, it made things simplier for me and I am at peace with it. I live by this motto, "everything works out for the best and for a reason". No need making myself sick over something that I can't accomplish when more then likely it wasn't meant to be or it wouldn't be such a hard task to do or seem so impossible at the time I THINK IT SHOULD HAPPEN.

Soos, I hadn't realized you weren't leaving yet, thought today was the day, so I'm surprised but thinkng also you are being very wise as the weather where you're going sounds kinda bad . Have been thinking of you, so a relief, you're waiting for awhile, be better for your rib condition too. You'll have a much nicer trip.

Kathleen, hope you're having a good trip and enjoying it some. Are you well yet? Hoping you feel better, take your time and hope you can enjoy your visits on the way as you ususally do. Praying for your health and safe travels.

I had best not set here too long :o I've been up for hours and if I set to long the ole bod, might begin to think its naptime :P So hoping you all have a really great day, and please do something fun for yourself, if its just setting and reading a good book. Whatever you do, Be Safe , Please !!!!

Good Sunday Morning Ladies
Thanks for the memories everyone... I am in a CORP park in south west Georgia... paid for two days hoping to get rested and feel better... yesterday I took three naps and slept soundly all night... woke up about 9 this morning and feel rested and wonderful!! I have not been able to say that for a while! Today I will just do as little as I can so I will not call that bug back!!!! Tina you may need a lot of rest if it is what I have had...
There was thunder and lightning and a lot of rain here last night... so glad Shadow does not care if it is thundering or not! he just sits there and does nothing... it is so peaceful here this morning... it will be cool and tonight will get down into the 40s... what a change from the oppressing heat we had in FL... strange winter and spring for everyone...
I love the Fort story so glad your children had those memories... oh Echo I am sorry this friendship is so brittle... lets hope when she thinks about it she will get over it... her intentions were pure...
Irmi sit by the fire for me...
Oh my we have a peak a boo sun trying to shine...

Good morning to you all. I enjoy reading what you all are doing and where you are going. We are at a campground in Kerrville,Tx. Its sunny and kind of a chilly start to the day (40's) but will get up into the low 80's like yesterday. We love this park because of all the walking paths through the cedar/oak thickets. The park (Schreiner Park) is over 500 acres and you can really get lost in their trail system, we have managed it a couple of times! We see lots of deer. The trail head signs say not to hike alone due to wild animals you might encounter including mountain lions but we have never seen any animals back in the thickets. I'm sure they are there....but we see the deer in the evening and early morning when they come out into the meadows.

They also have a nice trail that follows along the river. I think we will walk it today.

Yesterday we went over to Fredericksburg which is not far from here. Visited the German bakery and got my favorite...the soft and sweet German pretzels. So glad this place is not near where I live!! After we looked around there a while we drove about 7 miles south of town to Wildseed Farms where they grow the most amazing fields of flowers and have lots of other stuff going on too. Gift stores, lots of plants for sale, pottery, you name it. They also had live music and wine tasting going on. I don't like wine but I thought of you ladies who do and figured some of you would have enjoyed that aspect. They did have one of their areas that had lots of different jellies, sauces, mixes of all sorts that you could taste test. I tried a few of those....very good but I don't need that, especially after eating the German pretzels! Did have a small cone of their peach ice cream and it was just yummy. Flowers all over, colorful, musical, goodies to eat or drink....great place to visit!

I had told Steve that we need a mascot (stuffed) critter to make our journeys with us. At one of the stores we were in there was a little raccoon with a Stetson style hat on. Says 'Texas' on the hat. We picked him after some mental telepathy back and forth and learning that he is tired of people watching and ready to travel!

Loving it here and so excited about soon being to the place where our 'long-timer' status starts up!

good morning ladies
got the kitty delivered yesterday, they are very happy but of course first thing she did was run and hide
under the sofa. The lady knows it will take her awhile to settle in but of course I'm going to worry
about the poor thing until I hear some news. She cried in the carrier all the way and it made me
feel so bad but my heart knows its better for her to be a kitty and be able to play.
The high yesterday was 103, thats just too much for this early in the year. Luckily it will go back
down and by Thursday they are predicting a little rain. We could sure use it to wash the air around
here.
Todays agenda is to get my kitchen area cleaned out, pull all the stuff off the shelves and wipe
down everything. Saw some knats crawling around so I need to find the source, son says somebody
left a banana peel in his kitchen and it bred the little pests. Will make sure they didn't find an
alternate abode in my kitchen.
Gracie was so sick yesterday, her tummy really grumbling I had to get the medicine out again.
She has finally decided the medicine helps and doesn't fight me anymore to take it. She is just
so sensitive to things, she was fine in the morning but started getting sick as I packed up the
kitty stuff and loaded the car. By the time I got back she was full blown nautious, in pain and
throwing up. Then son kicks up his amp on the stereo and that just sends her over the edge.
Took her out in the yard and she grazed on the grass for quite a long time. Another round
of medicine before we went to bed and this morning she is bouncing around like a lunatic
feeling all full of herself. Think she has a doggy ulcer but I never did ask the vet if dogs
get ulcers, she just gets such a nervous tummy under stress.
Time for a coffee refill and cruise a few posts, then get on with my day. Be safe everyone.

I wasn't feeling good yesterday but went to the crawfish boil anyway. Thought I was going to be sick before I got home but wasn't and today I feel better. It isn't a good idea to eat crawfish if you aren't feeling good. Did manage to pass on the cake that was served. I think that would have put me over the edge.

Gina, you were doing the things we did on our GTG near Fredericksburg. We were all eating ice cream and I think that distracted us from the baked goods. I missed the trip to the Wildseed Farm but saw it from the road several times. I went in the kitchen shop and I think the lady said they had 15 rooms. I could spend all day in there. I sent my brother one of the Armadillo critters with the hat and bandana after one of my trips to Texas. We were born in Texas but he lives in Canada now. Sharon(Sprinter) and Karen(retiredhappy) live in Kerrville.

Ava, those fruit flies or whatever they are, are hard to get rid of. I think I read that they breed in the sink drains. We have had them before and I don't remember what I did to get rid of them. I'm with Gracie, loud noise gets to me too. My son and I have a fuss about the radio every time I have to ride with him. He will be deaf by the time he's 40.

Good afternoon

Tina - I hope you are feeling better soon; maybe that iPad will do the trick!
Carol - So glad you are getting things done and about ready to leave without adding more stress.

Sun is back out here but it is windy and cool. I'm using the wind as yet another excuse not to be out clearing the driveway of pollen and general tree debris. Keep putting that on to do list and getting skillful at coming up with reasons to ignore it.

My doctor and I are at an impasse over medication he wants to add. I've worked very hard over the past 10 years to get down to nothing more than something for blood pressure and occasional antibiotics. He kinda reminds me of the commercial "there's an app for that" in that there seems to now be "a pill for that" no matter what it is. I did take his advice and get a shingles vaccine but I don't intend to add anything else at this point.

Nicky caught another poor little chipmunk. I haven't felt like body disposal so the body is under a pot for now; that will at least keep Nicky from eating it until I can get rid of it - he does not need any wild life supplements to his diet.

Am looking forward to Kathleen's visit and a chance to get reacquainted with Magic before leaving for the TN gtg.
I've been running down there briefly to start the engine. Waited a full week for the first time between starts and apparently that is too long - like to have never got her going. Do not understand this problem. From what I've read, the only two coach items typically powered by the engine battery are electric steps (which I do not have) and the carbon monoxide detecter.

Better get going or the whole day will be gone.

Stay safe out there.

Another chilly, cloudy day here. Woke up to rain but didn't last long.
Ava if it is fruit flies your seeing, set an open wine bottle that has just a tiny bit of wine left in it on your cabinet, they will disappear like magic. And you get to drink the wine first
Sarah, I've been turning my house batteries off when I don't drive LC for awhile and they all stayed up this winter, I did start it every 4-6 weeks. I don't know if the house batteries will stay up that well though in summer.
Hope everyone who is feeling under the weather bounces back soon!!

Or, Ava, if they're pantry moths - GOOD LUCK! I had them 3 years ago. What little buggers they are to get rid of! Now, I NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER bring in anything that contains some sort of flour without putting it first in the freezer for two days. EVER. No exception. They're harmless, but creepy. They had crawled up inside the screw on lids of some of my spices. You know how much money I threw in the trash???? LOTS and LOTS! Cereal, pancake mix, pasta, rice, corn meal, most of the spices - all in the trash, even if they weren't open.

I hate those things. It's not that a person is dirty - they come in with your newly purchased products. Bird seed, too. (although I'm not sure they're the same thing)

Sarah, since you are having an ongoing problem with your battery I would carry a battery charger with the emergency start until someone figures out the problem. They are electric but if you are at a campground, the charger and an extension cord could get you started and you wouldn't have to worry about having some one jump the battery. If you can get the generator started without the engine battery you could use it on the road. I carry one to charge a boat battery and it isn't all that big. I wonder if one of the little solar chargers that you put on your dash and plug into the 12 volt socket would help.? I have never used one myself.

On Click and Clack today they were talking to someone who had those in their car. They told them to SELL it before they got in their house as they would never get rid of them!
