Friday The 13th!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Friday The 13th!

Postby Colliemom » Fri Apr 13, 2012 6:09 am

Well, Good Morning ladies. Anybody who is superstitious about Friday, the 13th probably should spend the day in bed and and not evern get up,

Chilly start to my Friday this morning, but promise of a nice mild sunny day here. With the exception of Wednesday (I think it was), it has been a good comfortable week to be working outside at the park. We are slowly getting things done. A lot of little stuff accomplished this week and yesterday we started blowing the leaves etc., in the South Campground. That is really hard physical work with hand held, back pack and walk behind blowers. By days end, we are all dirty from the dirt flying around, not to mention tired from using all those blowers all day long. I'm just a little sore this morning, but not too bad really. Took a nice hot bath last night and that felt good. Was physically tired more than anything else. I imagine we will be at it again today.

Then comes the weekend and I will be off. Working Monday-Friday all of April. Don't have schedule beyond that point yet, but the fact that we are opening up the South Campground and the toilet/shower building there on the 27th, I will probably start working on weekends at some point. That's fine as I need some days off during the week to do personal things.

Been kind of skimming through the various threads and posts and sounds like everybody's busy with one thing or another. I see we have some new folks who have joined and I want to welcome them all. Will catch up to those threads over the weekend as it's supposed to be kind of wet and other than cleaning up my house a bit, doing some laundry and grocery shopping, I should have some time to putter on this thing.

Keep hoping that Kathleen will post one of these mornings and let us know how she is doing and whether or not she has started for home yet. Soos, I see is making her last and final plans to hit the road in another week, Tina is working to make some green for AK. BJ, I know what you mean about having the dogs teeth cleaned. I had Tessa done last month and it cost a small fortune. She had on extraction to due to a cavity. It took her a few days to completely recover from all that too. She's fine now, but I must make sure I keep those teeth brushed, the which of I've been a bit neglegent I must admit  Echo, hope you were able to rest up and get your physical self back in working order so you can tackle those dishes again. I keep hoping that as time goes by, they will find something else for you to do.

Time to be off here and start getting ready to head for work. Have a wonderful day everybody.

HAPPY FRIDAY THE 13TH TO SUE AND ALL!

I got a shot of a gator in the pond this morning, which I will send along with this message. It's not a huge one, but not a baby one, either. I hope the breezes will pick up later as it warms up as they make it so much more comfy in here with doors and windows open in the heat of the afternoon. Slight chance of rain showers on the coast, but not anywhere in sight for this area. Back at home, I could never imagine wishing for rain as I do here!

Kids will show up after work and then go to some comedy show. Tomorrow Goog will help me prune the trees overhanging the house, lift any heavy stuff into the truck for my trek home, and then we may go out to dinner, depending on how my gut feels by then. Ribs will do fine at a restaurant, but gut may not.

I, too, hope we hear from Echo and Kathleen soon, Everyone have a wonderful day whatever you are doing!

Good morning Sue, Soos & everyone!

Sue, it sounds as though you are still enjoying working in the park and getting it ready for the summer crowds.

Soos, it won't be long before you'll be heading in a northerly direction to your home in the mountains. I hope your ribs will be feeling better real soon.

I received an email from Kathleen a few days ago and she said she would start heading for home on Tuesday. I believe she may be stopping to visit a girlfriend on the way.

It's been chilly and quite breezy in MD for the past week. We finally have the yard and flowerbeds looking the way they should be but I caught poison ivy in the process. Hopefully it will dry up so I can get outside and get some other things done. It's supposed to finally start warming up here this weekend into the beginning of the week.

I hope everyone at the GTG is having a good time, those on the road are safe, that everyone at home is happy and that we hear from Echo soon.

Good morning, all! Woke to severe blue skies this morning, following a cold day of much-needed rain.

Have to laugh at the little foster dog. If I'm missing something, I'm sure to find it squirreled away in her kennel. She stole my hair brush off the kitchen table, and I just caught her pulling a polartek inside. She's a funny girl.

Have a few errands to run today, but I'm getting ready for the county Democratic convention tomorrow. I've been inundated with calls, but yesterday I got a really cool robo-call. It was Robert F. Kennedy Jr, attesting to the environmental bona fides of one of the mayoral candidates. It worked. I listened to the whole thing. He is one of my heros and something of a crush. ;~)

I've been looking for a place to volunteer this summer. I was just wooed by a small state park in Idaho ... sounds like a beautiful, quiet place for the summer. Perhaps too quiet. But my preferred park didn't call me. So after volunteering at a large, busy impersonal park for four years, maybe I should opt for a quieter, more family-oriented park with a small, close-knit staff/volunteer crew.

There is a week-long July river trip on the Main Salmon (also in Idaho) that I might want to go on. I should talk to the ranger and see if that would be possible. The Main is a busy river, with a small rapid every quarter mile or so, and seven or eight named (read: more challenging) rapids.

GOOD MORNING SISTAHS!!!

Thought I'd stop in and say HI! Had 2 days off and enjoyed the heck right out of them. Didn't do anything as money is tight at the moment. But..... today is payday. YAY! Will be interesting to say the least to see what my check amounts to. I do know for sure tho that it isn't gonna be equal the work that is put in for it.

Been really cool here temp wise for the past couple of days but it is suppose to go back up into the 70's starting today and maybe low 80's by Sunday. If it's really nice out this weekend that means that we might be swamped at the park. The whole town right now is nothing but a car show. Traffic sucks!!! All the old, classic and hotrods were parked last night but traffic was still bumper to bumper. I think every redneck and "Bubba" from 50mls around were out cruising with their jacked up trucks and personal hot rods to see and be seen. What a P.I.T.A. :x

OK am off and attempting to run. Leaving early as I have to stop and get gas, try a new route to work and look for a bank on the new route. Hopefully I wont get lost!!!

Have a great day and stay save everyone!

Love to all

Foster-Pup would probably like that better.

Well, it is an unlucky day for my laptop  I have black spots and colored lines covering 1/6th of my screen so I can't read anything on that side. Apparently I must have dropped it or set it down too hard the other day and damaged the screen. Will have to take it in to Best Buy and see if it can be fixed or if I have to buy a new laptop. I'd go now, but we are having several heavy thunderstorms rolling thru here (yes, actual thunder! :D ). So I will have to wait for a day or two to bring it in. The black spots started a couple days ago and have gotten progressivly worse each day, so I figure I won't be able to use it much at all by tomorrow.
So, alwauys something (expensive)!

Sunday , I am going to the Carlsbad Flower Fields where they grow 50 acres of ranunculus flowers and are supposed to be absolutely gorgeous! They have a photography class that day and also a class on making gourd art, so I want to do both of those and take a tour of the gardens (with camera of course!).
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Do I remember that you swam in that pond? I wouldn't put my big toe in. When my husband and I were trucking, on one of our trips we stayed somewhere in FL. The truckstop had a pond nearby. We walked Gretchen (Schnauzer) around the pond and I was afraid one would jump up and get her. There are alligators in southern AR but hopefully they haven't made it this far north
