Wednesday Morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Wednesday Morning

Postby Colliemom » Wed Apr 11, 2012 5:46 am

Good Morning everyone,

Chilly morning here at the 45th. Hard to believe it's Wednesday already. Two more day and I will have my first week of work done already, and the nice thing is, we started in the middle of a pay period, so will be filing the first time slip this week. Then we will be getting our first pay check in two weeks instead of having to wait a month :D

Mom Nature really threw it as us yesterday. Cold, windy and snowy. Winds were blowing across the lake all of 30+ mph and we also had sme snow flurries around in the morning. I don't think the temp got out of the mid 30's all day and with that wind, brrrrrr. I worked outside all morning doing odds and ends stuff including the reinstallation of the solar lights around our one bathroom buildings. They are not your little stick in the ground type, but bigger lights mounted on posts about waist high. Almost froze my little pinkies off doing that job. Didn't wear gloves too much cause I had to reconnect a little wire to reactive them, as I put them in and kind of delicate for gloves.

After lunch i had planned to work with one of our rangers moving some benches and then maybe doing some leaf blowing, but my boss needed somebody to go with him to another state park to pick up a dump truck, so I went along. It is a 94 mile round trip over there, so we were gone most of the afternoon. Pretty drive too. It took two of us cause I drove our parks truck back, while he drove the dump truck. Had a nice little tour of that parks new mini cabin furnishings while we were over there. We are also redoing ours as well, so we got to see how it could look. Right after we got back, we had a snow squall that lasted at least a half hour and was really coming down. Didn't amount to anything though.

Poor four footed ones at the house here, didn't even get a walk yesterday. Was just too wet and cold as the snow showers/rain mix stuff just kept up on and off. Made a nice bowl of chili and some corn muffins for supper last night. Nice day for that.

So who knows what we will get into today. It's supposed to be a nicer day today, so I'm sure we will be back out in the park, getting the grounds work going again.

Hope everybody had a nice day yesterday. Soos is making her last few weeks plans to head back north to her mountain home, Carol, Shirl and others will be heading to SC pretty soon. Others are readying for other GTG's as well as AK. So people are on the move. Getting exciting reading about all the plans etc.

So, time to go read some other posts. Up early this mornig, so have time to kind of play catch up here. Have a wonderful day all.

GOOD MORNING SUE AND ALL!

You are moving right along toward your first pay check, Sue----it will feel good to have some income again! I looked at a Ford Flex the other day in St. Cloud when I was getting my truck serviced. It really does have a lot of room and seat configurations and seems to be nicely put together. I can see why you like it! However, the one I looked at was priced at over 36,000 bucks----as much as my truck when new! OUCH! I guess I will stick with what I have for another year, at least.

I am now back in my Orlando house as I still have a bunch of things to wrap up here, like trying to prune my trees, cleaning the carpeting, making sure I have everything I will need up north in bins to take back with me (like my wireless power tools and batteries and other tools). I will take not many clothes, as I have all I need already in the trailer.

I have my driving itinerary all planned out, other than the gas station stops, for the entire trip. It will take me 8 days of driving at a little over 200 miles per day, not counting the two-night stopover and the SC GTG. I will ask Mandy about driving directly to her house as it will be a bit shorter than going to my house on the last day of my travel. The last day will be over 300 miles either way, but about 50 miles shorter to her place. I can park in her driveway again and get my fill of Orion before I head home to face the messes back there. I haven't asked her yet as I haven't talked with her this week.

Back at St. Cloud next week I will check trailer tire pressures and fill my propane tank, although I still have one whole tank left.

I hope all is well with you out in camping land, and that the weather this spring will be perfect for travel and camping.

Happy travels!

Morning!

Sue - sounds like they are keeping you busy at work. And good for paychecks coming sooner than later.

Soos - sounds like you are about ready for that trek north.

The gas cap light came on in my truck last night and the check engine light this morning. I hope all I need is a new gas cap. I would like to hang on to this truck for another year at least while I pay off some other bills. I haven't had a car payment in 8 years, not keen to start.

Tis a nice morning here in South Austin or North San Antonio, whichever way you look at it. Will make a walk over to Wal-Mart and return some items. Will stop by the paper recycle bin and drop in a box....oops I think it said no cardboard. In that case I'll take it to a trash barrell in the parking lot.

Will head out to Stonewall this morning. Looking forward to seeing all the Pink Flamingo gals again. They have a fun schedule arranged for those who want to go and do.

Having some Greek yogurt and strawberries for breakfast this morning. Started the generator and brewed a cup of coffee as I was too lazy to heat up water on the stove top! Now that is lazy.

Maggie sorry to hear about the check engine light....my check engine light cost me about $700 as they had to replace it. I think I got some bad gas that caused that little incident. Hope a new gas cap fixes it for you.

Praying for safe journeys for everyone traveling. Those of you sitting still...have a fun and great day.

Good Morning All - sure is chilly here in Central Indiana - frost on the windshield this morning - at least the wind has stopped blowing and the sun is out nice and bright. Tonight is supposed to be freezing too. Then a warm up. Hope so. I've been mostly working on Bill's web site and he has been in the workroom playing with his leather - making masks. The Alfa is back in storage and the house is almost all clean. Haven't done any work outside except put the carpet on the bedroom deck. Waiting for the gutter guy to come clean them and then will finish fixing up all the decking all around the house.
sometimes I wish we had a smaller place - I've reached the age where lawn work is more of a job then a pleasure. Tomorrow Bill has his physical - I worry about him sometimes - he still has some days when he is too tired to do anything. Then he has to see the heart doctor too - haven't seen him since last fall. Oh well......
Hope everyone is having a nice day where they are and safe travels if they're on the road. Got to get to the web pages and get them finished.

Chilly here too, I turned the heat back on this morning, the house was 65 degrees and that it too cold for my bones. We took the little dogs in to have their teeth cleaned this morning. I was supposed to give them antibiotics for two days before, well one dog missed a dose. I found a pill stuck to the side of the waste can!! Looked like one of them was trying to put it in it's proper place but was a little too short  Charley is not happy, guess I should have scheduled him in at the same time. The house does seem empty.

On the way home from the vet DH said he saw an owl sitting on a telephone wire, I'm like no way not in the daytime. So I turned around and went back, no owl, but when we came back by there it was!! I was so excited and pulled over to try and get a picture but it flew away.

I hope Bill gets to feeling better Carol. We finally hired someone to do our yard, DH does plant flowers but all the mowing etc we have done. The guy who does it is so nice we all enjoy him, I think Charley would go home with him. One of our big oaks in the front yard has slowly died and needs to be taken down. I'm so sad as it really gave the house a lot of shade. We've lost too many trees lately & that horrible storm a few years ago took out so many.

Maggie, AutoZone can do the test for free on the check engine light - mine is from my gas cap - and not important, but comes on periodically. So far, I haven't replaced it - one day. But they do the diagnostic for me - Liz was with last time it came on - and no charge. I remember when Ford charged an arm and a leg to tell you it was nothing ... so glad there are these places out there that will help for nothing or close.

GOOD AFTERNOON SISTAHS!!!

It is a super glorious day here today. It's only 54f right now but feels warmer and just a tiny whisper of a breeze. Perfect weather for doing something outside. This weekend it's suppose to go back up into the 70's so that means that the park will be busy. We had planned on going to the park today to just play but said the heck with it. I have free passes and was gonna use one for Kelly and upgrade it to a super pass then she would be able to go to both Dollywood and Splash Country. It will cost $55 to upgrade it to a super pass but have until the end of the month to do it at that price. So no major hurry we've got the time. Will be nice when David and his GF come down and the 3 kids can go to the park. Be even nicer if it's a day that I'm working the day shift and join them after work. ;)

Yeah it sure isn't morning anymore. Have been being a lazy bum and playing on the laptop. Nothing pressing to do. Tho I am gonna drag Kelly out the door and finally clean out the back of the truck. Was gonna do it before and just didn't make it. Will be going to the bath house to take a shower and do laundry a little later. My sewing box is in the back of the truck so I will be glad to have that as I am gonna roll the hems on my work pants up to make them just a little shorter so that I'm not walking on them. I'm gonna look around at some point to find a thrift shop to see if I can find a couple more white oxford shirts to match the uniform shirts I now have. I have 3 uniforms and I hate like fire the times I have to do laundry in the middle of the work week.

OK got a few thing left to do then it's out the door to clean out the truck. Hope everyone has a great day doing whatever it is you want or need to do. Be safe.

Love to all

Well, it's just a bit shy of morning, but thought I'd pop in. Gorgeous day in beautiful downtown Utah. It's the warm before the storm, tho ...

Cleaning the fridge & doing other domestic stuff today. AND surfing FB and the forum...

Little foster dog is now comfortable enough here to start chewing stuff up. LOL. I need to keep bedroom & closet doors closed.

Tonight I'm going to see a debate between the two democratic challengers for what is now Orrin Hatch's seat. But it's an exercise in frustration. With Mitt Romney the sure-fire GOP nominee, every Mormon will want to cast a vote for the first LDS presidential candidate. So even in strongly Democratic Salt Lake County, the Dems will likely get crushed.

Sigh ...
