that is too bad but better to have it done before something happened that you couldn't control with
your knee hurting
my mom who is 84 is having her left knee replaced on the 18 of this month I told her she should have had it done
last year so I could help out with my dh having his problems can't go help her out. My sister had hers done and she didn't have the best of
luck wanted to know if mom wanted the ...can't remember the words she used but giving mom the negative parts of it ...Mom said she didn't want to hear
it just wants positive feed back I said good for you!!!
I bet you will do just fine and let the kids nurse you to a point

Carolyn, you sure seem to be living a life in jello. Big hugs and warm thoughts for this trying time. A friend of mine had both knees done at once. I remember his doctor put him on a strict diet before and during - saying that excess weight would be the absolute worst thing after. He's been very careful even since and thinks it's got his life in order for many years to come. Hope the same happens with you. Pain is no fun at all.

Well, if we were staying longer in the area, would have "helped" the nursing staff keep you under control during your up-coming recovery. But, since I can't, will send hugs and quick recovery wishes instead. You'll do fine....

Ooooh, I like Bionicruiser too. Thanks to everyone for your thoughts. I'll let you know how it goes. I checked that website out and as with anything, the good ones are gone to chat with but could still get good info. In anticipation of this surgery I have been doing strengthening exercises so hopefully it'll make the healing better.

It's just like my Doc and PT guys say, I won't hurt like this ever again. It will be a different maybe harder pain from the surgery and general healing. I'm NOT looking forward to the PT but that's part of it too. I'm way too young to come off the road so I'll be working smart and hard.

Best of luck for you upcoming surgery and recovery. There will come a time when you will wonder why you didn't do this sooner. My mom had her knee replaced and said that very thing. Get her done and after surgery, don't overdo but do. Linda

Ditto to Linda's mother. Getting my knees replaced was briefly painful, and it was a long recovery, but it was the best thing I ever did. These replacements are not like the knees you had when you were 18, but they are a LOT better than the old ones.

Just make sure you choose a surgeon who does hundreds of knee replacements each year. You want a skilled technician, so bedside manner and how well you like him or her does not matter.

According to Donna he has really good drugs! As will you! As my vet said when she put Roxie the GS on prozac...better living thru pharmaceuticals!
