Why do the hard to spell birds not have a common name? LOL .. yep, was great to see them.

I love the javelinas, but I loved pigs when I was a kid, too. Here they are where they belong - and I believe animals where they belong have every right to the area. When we mess with them and let something (animal or plant or insect) lose in a new environment, it's our fault when things go wrong. Too bad they can kill us off when we usurp on them.

A lady ranger at Davis SP explained to me why they are so dangerous for dogs. It seems they have very poor vision but a keen sense of smell. Their main predator is the coyote which is in the canine family. They are unable to distinguish the various species of canines so they will attack any they might encounter. NEVER never leave your pet unattended if they are in the vicinity.
