Short But Fun Trip

Postby Redetotry » Thu Mar 29, 2012 6:46 am

I had a great time on my trip Tuesday. I had a doctors appointment in St Louis first which turned out well!!! Then went on to St Charles, MO to meet up with a friend I went all through school from first grade, way back then there was no Kindergarten. :) I stayed at Sudermeier RV Park which, while expensive ($62.00) for pull through full hookup, it was very clean and nice. I thought I was having a problem with the electric and they sent the maintenance man over. Turned out the electric was on just the way the sun was shining on the microwave panel I couldn't see the light was on  but, while he was there as we chatted I mentioned my water smelled really bad. He spent about an hour flushing ALL my tanks and said I must have had some algae develop over the winter. I think we must have special angels assigned to us! My friend and I went to a place called Llewellyn's for dinner and the food was pretty good, I had Irish Stew which was sort of average and a wonderful Guinness draft. I realized on the road home that I only took one picture and that was of the cappuccino I had for breakfast at a place called Picasso's in downtown ST Charles. It was as good as it looks!!!

LC ran great and I had borrowed a friends Garmin GPS and I LOVED it, I'm buying me one today. It was so great being able to drive around a new place and find your way back, I have a very bad sense of direction!!

Sounds like you had a fun trip BJ. Glad it went so well for you, your doctor appt. turned out good, you got to visit with your friend and use LC besides. And we all have had those little emabarrassing moments as well. The cappacino looked good. You will remember to take pics as time goes on and you are on more of an adventure type trip.

And you had an "angel" come along too in the form of the parks maintenance man. That was nice of him to dump your tanks. Now that you are home, it would be good to sanitize you water system. You can get directions on how to do that online very easily. Running the bleach and water through will take out any smells and what not and also freshen up your grey waste tank as well. My dealer does that when they dewinterize for me. I also have one of those clear elbow connections for my sewer line that fits between the sewer hose and the TT's sewer line. It can be connected to the hose at the dump station and when I finish dumping my tanks, I run some water into the tanks to help flush them out more.

Looking forward to hearing of more adventures this summer.

BJ, so glad your dr. app. turned out well. I'm sure that helped make for a great trip. I knew you would be excited about the GPS you were going to try out. I love mine and find its no problem now to go somewhere unfamiliar. I love how it tells you which lane to get in, when you're in heavy traffic and no way you can watch the crazy drivers and find those road signs too. :D Guess I know whats on your shopping list ;) All in all, sounds like you had a really nice day, so glad for you. I loved reading the excitement in your post.

Wishing you another fun day,
CArol :)

My goodness, BJ, going from "I can't do this and am gonna sell her" in Arkansas to "a fun trip"! Good job! Told ya it just takes time and experience. Hope to see you this summer somewhere!

So glad you had fun BJ! My GPS sure lowered the stress level
for me too. You will be joining the ranks of those who
don't want to go home at the end of 'fun' trips!

Sounds like you are finally enjoying.. ... Yay!

Also, whenever the tanks sit - they need to be flushed out - and running some chlorine through is a good idea, also - to kill anything in them. If I sit still with hookups for any length of time, I empty my water holding tank and fill it 3/4 full with water and some chlorine. Then drive to my next destination so that it can slush around - empty it - refill with fresh, and usually empty again (to get residual chlorine out) and then fill again. That's a good time to fill the empty black tank with ice and drive to the destination, too. Can still use the potty - but that ice cleans out the tank.

Just some hints.

You will love your GPS when you get one. I use mine for those times when I tend to zone out driving and am likely to drive past my turns!!

When you get one, put in an address close to your home, but not the exact address so in case someone finds it, they do not know where you live. I made that mistake and now cannot figure out how to edit it.

BJ, you are getting the Women RV blood rolling around. I a so glad that your trip was a great success. It's always a relief to get a good Doc's report. Visiting friends of long standing is so nice. Bet she couldn't believe what an adventurous soul you are now!!!

You need to look at Potter's Creek GTG in late Oct early Nov. It is going to be so much fun. Lots of the Sistahs will be around getting everyone in fun. Would love to meet you down here.
