Cloudy Saturday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Cloudy Saturday

Postby Colliemom » Sat Mar 24, 2012 8:19 am

Good Morning ladies,

The next to last weekend of March has arrived. Like that's really big news  And it's cloudy and cooler here this morning. Back to more March like weather for a bit here. We really enjoyed our nice "summer" while it was here and are not complaining if it gets cooler again. That was a nice blessing for us in Northern Michigan to have had that beautiful weather this time of year. Gve us a chance to do things that those of you in the warmer climates take for granted as part of your everyday lives, like going to beach, bike riding, wearing shorts and t-shirts, being out working in your yards etc. the only thing we don't have to worry about though is floods, tornados (maybe one or two a year if that), hurricanes, earthquakes (could hapen) etc. Certainly hope that those of you in the path of the storms and heavy rains are all okay this morning as the front moves eastward. Am holding Vickie and Ronnie in my prayers, that they don't get flooded out again.

Nothing much on the agenda here today. Thinking of doing some shopping up town and seeing if I can find myself a pair of work boots yet. Did spot a pair that might work and want to go try them on again. If not, good old LL Bean will be getting an order from me. And my poke my head in Hobby Lobby, where else, and see what's up in stickers etc., for my next sign, the pan of which is not in my head yet, other than the wording. Need to get some new spark plugs for my lawn tractor too as it's going to have to get to work before long.

I'm glad to see that Judy has put a deposit down on her "new home". Makes me want to get out and get on the open road that much more myself. But I have a S&B here yet and I don't think I want to travel without some "roots" behind me. So I have to get busy looking around and making some decisions here. Yeah, I know, you've heard this all before and it's getting to be a broken record. That trip out west is really tugging at me, but I wanted to do it for my 65th birthday in two years. What I really need to do is, figure out how I want to travel. I guess I am being chicken, BWAAACK, BWAAACK, in pulling a TT all over the country, but I know there are others of you ladies doing it and Mitch is taking hers all the way to AK. The one thing I am glad for right now, is the fact that i don't have two motor vehicles sitting here as the Michigan Castrophic Claims Assoc. is raising rates 21% on our car insurance starting July 1st. Another little pool of green to shell out  Hecdk, maybe I should just get a van, put a bed in back, stuff the porta potty in a corner, put in some storage bins and vamoose :D

BJ, when are you going to get that rig of your out on the road? Not seeing anything with it sitting there gathering dust. Seems like Christine was supposed to be taking her "new to her" 5er out this coming week too. Tina is taking the "short bus" to get some repairs made before she takes off for AK. I'm getting excited for you ladies who are going to be taking that trip. I know how excited it was the first time I was heading "North to Alaska" too. I can't explain the feeling. You will know what it is when you get there, see the sights and then head for home. It's a special place. And CArol, you mentioed having a neighbors son cut your grass while you are gone. Thought you were selling the place?

Well, I'm heading out of here. Just wanted to check in, do some rattling off and head on out. Hope you all have a nice day, no matter what, although those if flood prone areas and one the road, please stay safe.

Cloudy and then sunny here so not sure what the day will bring weather wise, but got to get going here as I have a yoga class at eleven.

Sue I am in fact heading out for a short trip on Tuesday to see a friend near St Louis. I have a doctors appt and decided just to take some extra time. When the time comes for you to make a decision something will give you a push in the direction you are meant to go, just relax and wait. Mine was coming to the realization that if I waited much longer I would possibly no longer have the desire or the health to try. The loving gift from my step-mother when she passed coincided with my revelation and made my dream possible.

Hope all are safe from the storms and water this morning.

Yeah, it's Spring Break and I have a week off. Everything is packed and we're heading to the keys. I booked a canoe trip and want to try kayaking. Lots of fun things to do and fried shrimp to eat!!!

Cloudy here as well and it's not supposed to be. I need to work in the yard and get the trailer ready to go again. I need to vacuum and wipe out the refrigerator after my last trip. And I'm taking it out again week after next.

Watching the Weather Channel and they are showing satellite pictures showing how all the snow has melted in MI and most of New England. Ugh - it's supposed to be 86 here today. That could make working in the yard muggy.

Well, I need to get going. I have a hair appointment today to get cut and color.

Its gonna be a really nice day here, as it was yesterday..Got the lawn mowed and planted some new grass in the bare spots.. Today i will get out and clean out the flowerbeds. Last day to be nice for awhile... It actually snowed in the foot hills here the other day... will summer ever arrive??

Change of plans to go to the beach.. nothing but rain in the forcast.. i will go later. Cant see going all that way when its just gonna rain.. I go to the coast to enjoy the wallking and beach combing.. Might as well stay home and dry inside here... Friends were NOT happy i cancelled but i would rather stay here and save my gas, then go and be miserable ..

Nothing exciting going on here..... same ole same ole...

Good Morning Ladies... wow everyone is up and busy leaving messages here... I am still having coffee...

I made black bean and corn dip yesterday and Molly and I feasted on it last night... it turned out perfect as she washed her rig and that was an all day of hard work... funny how things like that work out...

I hope Irmi is safe in her new location... we all keep track of everyone...

We had a good rain last night more in the late afternoon... looks like maybe more today... it is 75 out now and will climb to the mid 80s today again...

I have not seen Sal for several days hope he moved out... my neighbor has another Sal living either near or in her TT... at least the tiny bugs are taken care of...

Judy Judy Judy wow how nice things are working out... know you are elated we all share in your joy... So glad to see Liz progressing along... Oh my Sue your summer was sure short lived... maybe it will return soon...

Take care everyone and have a wonderful day...

As Sue says, it HAS been wonderful to be able to see the sun and be outdoors for the last couple of weeks in Michigan. Those of you who live in warmer and sunnier climes should appreciate how simple just being able to go outdoors and enjoy the weather can be. Makes everyone's winter depression go away and cheers the spirit!

Going out for some groceries this morning and to get some stuff for stocking the new RV next weekend--paper towels and cleaning supplies mostly. I have a rug and some rags packed in the back end of my van, and need to add things like that non-slide shelf stuff. If we find a storage spot, which I think we will, I will start readying shelves in the kitchen and putting in the stuff I have sorted out from my packing.

Got 44 short videos to watch and grade today and tomorrow, and then can turn in grades for another semester. I'll have a bit of a break, but new semester starts April 2, would you believe??? I'll only have 25 students this spring semester, so that will be nice for a change.

If I hurry, its still morning here :D Sun is out too, but weather forecast, says it won't be this afternoon, more stormy weather moving in. Trying to find some ambition here, put clothes in washer and its doing its thing, now where to go from there. Thought I might pick up some ambition from you ladies here, so far its not catching

Sue, I do plan to sell., until then and it might be awhile, I have to see that everything is taken care of. Not much time to do all thats needed to call a realtor, so in the meantime have to have things taken care of, so I am free to go play.

This is my big problem, all I want to do is put things in the r.v. and leave. The closer the time gets to my leaving date, the more excited I get and the less I feel like doing. But I had best call up all my will power and get off of here.

Hope you all have a really nice day and a fun filled week end. Those in the way of this storm that has moved across the country, stay safe and let us hear from you

Take care all,
CArol :)

Glad you and Ronnie are ok, Vickie!

The sun is shining here for the second day in a row. Pretty windy but that will help to dry us out. I actually walked Choco in only a long sleeved shirt ( shut up Mitch/Vickie, I also had on other clothes). It was good to see parents with their kids at our park and people doing outside chores. Oh, and the smell of fresh mowed grass! :D

I finally got to clean up doggie-do from the backyard. I was way behind on that chore.

Yesterday I was at Walgreens picking up 8 DVDs. I had them transfer my old VHS family movie tapes. Sorry to say I waited too long and some of the footage was lost. Two tapes I had transferred were copies my sister had made years ago from her silent Super 8 movies. Luckily not too much of those were lost. Lots of memories are now safely recorded.

Wishing everyone a safe and blessed day!

So Walgreens will do this for you? I sure wish I had all my VHS tapes and digital video camera tapes down here with me where there are Walgreens. I guess I need to check at home in the Adirondacks to see if someobdy back there can do this for me. I also have 16mm and 8mm and super8 mm movies films I need to digitize. Is it expensive to have it done? I tried doing my wn 16mm movies to VHS tapes, and it was a real pain. If I can afford it, when I get back home I will have mine done rather than wait for slow me to try it again.

Soos, it wasn't cheap. It was confusing as they charge 24.99 to put a 2 hr VHS tape to DVD, only some of my VHS tapes were recorded at different speeds to get more on a tape. We weren't sure of how the place that did the transferring would compute that. Ended up 14.5 hrs transferred for $253.

Thank you so much, and that price is well worth it to get it done and save it for future generations. Afer I get the DVDs, I will then copy those to MP3 digital videos, too, or whatever those digital movies are labeled. That will be a major goal for me this summer.
