Wednesday Morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Wednesday Morning

Postby Colliemom » Wed Mar 21, 2012 6:53 am

Good Morning Ladies,

Everybody up and ready to tackle another day? Hope nobody's in the way of some of the stormy weather that's moving across the country again.

We are going into what looks to be the last day of the record setting temperatures. Tomorrow the cold front will work through and drop us into the 50's and 60's, which is still above average for this time of year. Actually, I am looking forward to it cooling down, as 80 degree weather is too hot for this time of year and I"m not a big fan of 80 degree weather either. If I were wintering down south someplace, I would be heading north when the 80 degree weather starts to come in. Give me the 70's anytime.

Dogs and I had a really nice day yesterday. Took a ride up to Burt Lake State Park where I was originally hoping to work this summer, spent some time with my supervisor friend. We took a walk along the river trail up there as she wanted to check it out for downed trees from that big snwstorm earlier this month. Haven't had time to get over there yet. The park was hit pretty hard. They have 9 trees down and limbs and branches everywhere. We also had lunch together before I headed on out to Aloha State Park for a walk and she had an interview to conduct. Aloha is still closed, but we were able to walk the park anyway. Pretty warm in the sun though. Tessa waded in the lake and then when we got down by the boat launch, I sat on a rock and enjoyed the day for awhile. She waded in and out of the water about a half dozen times, thoroughly enjoying just standing there, soaking it up. There was a flock of about 21 geese swimming nearby and they all kind of swam over to near where she was and stayed there. Not too close, but closer than I thought they would. She just stood in the water and watched them. Cute.

It felt good to be on the road just out riding again. Took the what I call "old way" up to Indian River, through some of the small towns etc. Haven't really been out exploring a whole lot since I got the TT and have been camping on my days off. Decided this summer is going to be devoted to doing more of these day trips and go places I haven't been to for awhile. Change of scenery. Never know what you might find.

Will be heading off for gym class this morning with a couple of stops on the way in. The plan to finish power washing on the house. Just going to do my porch and the pavers going to my breezeway door. Then will be done with that. Can return my neighbors power washer. I will then have all my outside work done that I want to do except for a couple of minor things that I am putting off till the weather cools down a bit. Just too hot to work in that sun right now. Have two weeks before I start back to work roughly, so plan to just monkey around with this and that.

So I'm going to get moving here. Have a nice day all.

I'm glad you have all your summer chores almost complete and are starting to have adventures Sue even if they are short excursions, a change of scenery is always good. I agree, I don't like 80 degree weather either and I'm happy our weather report says tomorrow it will be down into the sixties. Our dogwoods & azaleas are now in bloom and it is amazing to see so many trees and flowers in bloom at the same time, April is going to be rather drab by contrast.

I am slowing getting over the UTI and hives or whatever I had. The blotches are fading and and everyone who sees them say they don't look like typical hives. I don't feel 100% yet, but certainly improved.

I am hoping that Vickie and Ronnie's house is safe this morning and that it remains safe.

We came through the weather unscathed and it's cooler here this morning. Those of you who hate 80° weather would have hated being with me last week. I know it got up to at least 83 four of the days I was there and it was still in the 80s another day.

I hate this having to work stuff. I want to be planning my next trip in a couple of weeks. And we are talking on how to make the trailer more boondock worthy. I want to replace the lights with LEDs, add a battery - I only have one - with a small solar panel to maintain them and get a small generator. I know Beth doesn't like them but I don't think I'm completely ready to go all solar. For one thing last week proved to me that I really don't want to park out in full sun all the time.

I can handle a couple more 80 degree days in March!! So nice yesterday, but wish I could be out in it instead of stuck in an office.

I am feeling a little better today. Still no word on the appraisal on my condo, so I still don't know if the sale will go through. I think I have the SS taken care of, and just this morning called to rescheduled the big toe surgery to remove a tiny bone spur that I cancelled last January when I found out I would have a $3,000 copay with the lousy insurance I had. This way, I will be retired, mostly off my feet, and getting Medicare by the June 11 date. It is a little later than I wanted, but I'll manage. Might mean I have to camp out somewhere in my RV for a week or so after I move, then drive back for stitches to be removed. It is only a toe, but it aches when I wear shoes that are not extremely loose, so I will be glad to get it done.

Need to go to the bank today and apply for a motorhome loan, then get with the dealer to sign the paperwork. Little more relaxed day at work today, so should go well. Maybe I won't panic and get my projects mixed up today!

11:08 am - Spoke too soon. Someone just called me to see how I was doing on a project and my mind went completely blank. Took me a couple of minutes before I could even remember who she was!! This is not good, so I will have to start making notes to myself. Amazing what stress can do to you!!

GOOD MORNING SISTAHS!!!

OMG, I slept like a dead thing last night and sure didn't want to get up this morning. Temp inside the trailer was just perfect for sleeping and it was super quiet too. We are all the way in the back corner of the campground next to the last RV site. There is one trailer to out right and that's it. And that person isn't here yet. From what the manager says that person also works at Dollywood.

Suppose to be 82f today then it will go down a few degrees and then back into the mid 60's by the weekend. I think I need tech support for Weather Wunderground as I can't for the life of me figure out how to change my 'home' page on there to the Pigeon Forge area. Guess I must be having left over blond moments!!

Gonna be a fairly busy day today as we will begin to set up 'housekeeping' and get this place straightened up. It seems so nice to not have to have the heaters running and in the way. Fans are much easier to move around!! Not to even mention that ya just don't worry so much that if something is left in front of them that it might cause a fire hazard!!! :D Just might get really ambitious and "mop" down the ceiling and walls in here too. It does need it.

OK that's about all my plans for today so will get off here and do some reading. Need to see what ya'll have been up to. Hope everyone has a super day and makes sure that they stay safe. Waiting for the Sistahs in the storm area to check in and learn how they all made out.

Love to all

My DH woke me up at 5:00 to tell me we were under a tornado warning and the coffee maker wouldn't work. We watched the weather on TV until the electricity went out about 7:00. There was a possible tornado in Intracoastal city which is about 2 miles South of us. We have heard of damage to the East and West of us so tornados must have passed on both sides of us. Realized the battery radio is in the camper and it's in the shop. The worst is to the East of us now and the temperature has dropped from the upper 70's to 59. Oh, and the coffee maker is kaput. :(

The weather channel is showing flooding in DeRidder which is near where my sister lives. I haven't heard from her this morning. She lives on a hill but her road has a low area that might keep them from getting out. Hope Vickie doesn't have any flooding.

I started some split pea soup in the crock pot. I have never made split pea soup in my life. My DH made some recently and I think that was the first time I had ever eaten any. If it's not good we are going to have a lot of it.

So far, so good. I got up every hour last night to check the water. Electricity went out around midnight and came back on about 45 min. later. Before we went to bed, the water had gotten to the front tires of the truck and was almost to my car, so I moved them both. Hit a spot where there was a stump rotted and sank one of the front tires on my car, but I didn't dig in and it should be pretty easy to pull it out. The water has went down some this morning, but the threat is still from the rivers backing up. They estimate that we had over 10 inches of rain (my 5 1/2in. gauge overflowed) so as the water drains into the rivers, the danger of flooding is still there. That's what happened last time, the water went down, we left for Colorado and it came back up overnight and flooded us.

Martha, I hope your sister is okay, they really got a lot of rain in DeRidder. Hwy 27 had over 5ft of water over it in spots. 190 had water over it also.

Oh, Martha! You made me laugh out loud -- twin crises! Glad the storm skirted your area. But what about coffee??? :o

Spring weather is lovely here in northern Utah -- I may soon have to shave off my winter coat!  But gravity and inertia are having their way with me again., so I need to pop down to St. George and pick up the road bike. Our bushes and trees here are beginning to leaf out. The bulbs are emerging. Amusingly enough, a bunch of them pop up through my lawn. They were scattered by a landscaping crew that re-graded my yard to remove garden beds & make it easy to maintain as I travel.

It has been like Wild Kingdom at my house. Yesterday I heard a noise in the hall, and there was a bird (!!!)-- a good sized one -- flapping around in my hallway. (The house was completely closed up!) I herded it into the bathroom, opened the window and removed the screen. It hurled itself to sweet freedom. And just a moment ago there was an incredible rat-tat-tat pounding on my roof-mounted swamp cooler. A bloody woodpecker was pounding on METAL. I stood under the shaft and yelled, "GET OUT OF HERE!!!" It must have flown away, because the racket stopped.

Amazing.

All is good here. Still adjusting to Kiwi's absence. When I go out and I have this nagging feeling that I need to get home. I start to prepare food and reflexively think that I need to cook something for Kiwi. I look at my feet to make sure I'm not going to step on her. She was such a HUGE part of my life ... seemed my life revolved around shopping for & preparing food that my skeletal little girl would eat. Now I have to find a new purpose and having fun doing so. Can't remember if I mentioned it here ...I was elected a delegate to the county and state Democratic conventions ... a whole new learning curve. Maybe I have more politics in my future.

Yes Janice, I think he could have handled the tornado crisis without me but not the coffee.  I had to go dig in the old house to find a coffee maker I had taken out of the camper so we will make it until I can get to town.

Vickie, glad to hear that you are ok so far. If all of this would move off with the South wind maybe the water would drain better. My nephew works in DeQuincy so he might not have been able to get to work.

I hear thunder and it's raining again. Hope we aren't going to have another round.

good morning ladies
glad to see you girls posting this morning amid all the bad weather, tells me your still alive! Thank the lord!
Long break today so I'm sitting up at Village Inn having bacon and eggs and a little juice. Its also free pie
day and my choice was coconut cream, haven't had that in a long time. I try to treat myself to a good meal
out at least once a month.
My allergies have settled down, they seem to as soon as I leave the house and the benedryl has certainly
helped Gracie.
Still carrying my jacket around as the breeze comes up it gets a little chilly. It really looks odd to see the
weather map and see all those 80 degree temps in the colder areas and we're down in the 60 degree temps.
It should be opposite  but it will warm up soon enough.
I'm putting some serious thought into taking a trip into Colorado this summer, around July 4th. I need to
take advantage as life will change in my world soon enough.

Good afternoon. Glad to hear from the LA sisters that things are ok so far. Will pray that there be no more flooding or tornadic weather near you. I have made it safely over the AL line into GA and the weather has been beautiful ahead of the storms. I love all the azalea & dogwood blooms in all their glory. I should be at a COE cg near my daughter's in the Augusta area by tomorrow afternoon. Spending tonight at Walmart as there are no likely cgs near where I am. Will let the storms catch up with me on Friday. Hopefully they will have worn themselves out by then.

Stay safe and dry!
