Mini GTG At Crooked River, GA

Hey, ya'll!!! Have met up with Irmi & Steve here at Crooked River State Park, GA.....We all arrived today for what we hope to be a fun week exploring the very tip of the east coast of GA.....The Sultan & I arrived at 11AM and checked in....picked out 2 sites across from each other and settled in while waiting for Irmi & Steve to arrive. They pulled in around 3PM...got settled in and the 4 of us sat out at the picnic table, catching up and just visiting....Oh, we did do some "official" business by presenting Steve with his "Assistant Sultan" shirt.
Image
We then had both the Sultan & Assistant Sultan show off their shirts.
Image

We then sat down to a supper & a glass of wine....
Image

And took Spinner & Teddy for a walk.
Here's Teddy enjoying Spinner's outside bed.....Spinner's really good at sharing it... :)
Image

Even though none of us traveled very far, we are all tired, so we're all calling it a night and hitting the hay... :)

But stay tuned...I'm sure there will be more to come.... ;)

Can't wait to see how the training of the new Assistant Sultan goes. I know the Sultan will do his usual superb job. You Sistah's gotta keep those guys on their toes.

Looking forward to seeing what all you do, go and eat (of course - we do that so well). Nice to be on the other side of the campground plug for Ernie and Lori. Have fun and we can hardly wait to see all the pics. Love that Teddy is really looking relaxed. Nice that Spinner will share like that.

How long will ya'll be there? I'm about 40 miles away. In fact I will be at Crooked River Monday morning very early to kayak out to Cumberland Island.

PS....Just read your blog on Cumberland Island.....this may be doable for us sometime this week, if Ernie takes his "Bodine"....boats & he don't get along well, sometimes.. :)

Looks like a fun time and sounds like Spinner is also great host.
I hope the training goes well, our numbers are increasing and the Sultan clearly will be needing an assistant, welcome Steve!

Caroline gave me a tour of that area last time I drove through that area and stopped to visit with her and then went up to visit your guys. It sure is nice. But I didn't stay nearly long enough to see much and look forward to any pictures you guys can pass along. Have fun! :)

My kayak trip starts at 9am but I should be back at the park around 4pm. I'll drive down to the campsites and see if ya'll are around. I may be wiped out and not able to stay awake long, but would love to meet you. The paddle is 6 miles out to the island and is listed as strenuous. I'm looking forward to it as the only paddling I've done all winter is on the swamp and it's not very strenuous. Also my first paddle in the sound and dealing with tides. Glad I'll be with a guide. Will give you full disclosure Monday night. You'll get the scoop before I even blog about it!

Good to see another gtg underway. Know Steve will successfully complete his assistant training while there; actually he has already proven to be pretty good at it.

Glad you are going w/a guide because strenuous would not begin to describe that trek over to Cumberland Island. My DGDs swim coach is the manager at the Island and it's a great day trip but lots of walking once you get over there. Yep, I'd day you will be pooped when you return. Have a great time.

Lori, I stayed a month at A Big Wheel Park and would definitely do it again. Great folks. The owner's husband works where my son works at Kings Bay Sub Base.

Just don't let the no seeums carry you away. LOL I'll be up at Kingsland around the 26th so maybe I'll run out to see you if you are still there. See if Jack and Mary Lou are still there. They are a great couple I met while staying there and still keep in touch. Have fun.

Tell the Asst Sultan to take good notes! :)

Steve's been in training for awhile now, so I know he's earned his status. Glad you are all going to have some fun together.

Hi, all...am going to keep this all on 1 thread..... ;) cause there are days we don't do much...which is what the 4 of us like, days of doing nothing... and there are a few things we plan to do....so, I'll now bring you all up to date....

Saturday we went to the Nature Center for a lecture on "Wild Mushrooms"....took the camera as we all thought we'd be hiking and being shown the different varieties in the area, but alas, it was just a lecture of the differences between poisonous and non-poisonous mushrooms....not what we thought :( . So we came back to the campers and did our own thing....we did have our St. Patrick's Day corned beef and cabbage and chatted. AIlso did a little planning on things we wanted to see while here....we also went over to the next CG to pay for Ernie & my's stay next week at A Big Wheel RV Park. Because of a big Naval excersize this week, we can't get into the campground here at Kings Bay Sub Base. No one allowed in or out for 4 days.... :(

Yesterday, Ernie & I set up the outside TV for the 4 of us to watch the NASCAR Race.....Ernie made his famous chile.....and we just enjoyed the day....about 6pm we again gathered for snacks and dessert.....Keylime Pie....I did take some photos...

Steve & Irmi in front of their rig.

Today the guys are running out to get subs while Irmi & I get some laundry done....
This evening we'll hang out and wait for "Horizonseeker" to get back from her kayak trip and maybe stop by....
Stay tune....

Thanks, Lori. Keep those photos coming! I do hope Vickie makes it by to visit. She is likely to be in need of some TLC after her paddling trip.
