It's Thursday!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

It's Thursday!

Postby Getupngo » Thu Mar 15, 2012 5:52 am

Good morning everyone! It's been a long time since I have started this thread.

But I don't have coffee on. No aromas of warm banana bread wafting through the ether. No. I'm awake (not "up") because little snotty dog is agitated and demented. She's walking in and out of my bedroom, forgetting I'm here and barking.

Yeah. Since 4 a.m. Such is life with a mostly blind, mostly deaf dog. Might as well break down and make some coffee and bake banana bread. :|

I had fun this week. I went to my first local political party caucus and was elected a delegate to the county and state nominating conventions. Never done anything like this before. It'll be fun and a way to see the sausage made.

Hope you all have a great day!

Okay, I finally gave up, got out of bed, got a cup of coffee and brought the laptop into the kitchen. I've been sitting here for about hour, then I realized I hadn't heard the snotty dog for a while. I look ... and there she is curled up asleep in her bed in my bedroom.

So I guess she needed assurance that I was here before she could sleep. If I wasn't all coffee'd up maybe I'd go back to bed.

Good Morning... I am not awake yet either but there is some kind of construction going on and the beep beep beep beep will not let me go back to sleep... so coffee is on here also... guess this is a morning of annoyances...
Shadow stayed in bed last night... the beep did not bother him... so now he is on the blanket that I have on my lap... he loves the softness and would hog it if I let him!!
I am looking for that banana nut bread but alas it is not here... guess I will have left over potatoes and eggs later... yuck maybe for lunch...
hope everyone has a great day

Good Morning Janice, Kathleen and all who follow,

What no banana bread yet! Darn, now I have to eat my bowl of strawberries I guess.

Aren't dogs just wonderful. Mine wake me up when they want to go out. Sometimes in the middle of the night. So I put them out. Then when they come in, they curl up in their beds and go back to sleep and I"m wide awake  Such is a dog owners life

Nothing to report around here this morning. Heading to town in search of a new pair of work boots and do the shopping I didn't do yesterday casue after gym class, I went with my cousin to lunch. The local Methodist church here, has a soup and dessert lunch every Wednesday during Lent in March. So we went over there. For $4.00 you can get a bowl of soup (choice of two kinds) and dessert (two kinds). Well, there are those fabulous Hot Fudge Ice Cream puffs you see and...... Since it was such a nice day, I came on home and took the dogs over to the park for awhile. We have a lot of park to roam now that the snow is melting away. Decided to leave the shopping etc. go for today instead.

Tina, I haven't made any decisions on anything yet. Other than changing my plans as to what park I am working at this season. i'm kind of sitting tight right now. Waiting to see what is going to happen down the line here.

So I am heading for a quick bath and then off to town. Safe travels to all those who are on the road and I hope that all who are having some health issues at the moment, get over whatever is ailing you and enjoy the spring weather.

GOOD MORNING TO ALL!!

I had a busy day yesterday---two meetings, a bike ride, a walk with puppies, and a swimming hour!

The colo-rectal surgeon who gave the noon presentation at a neighboring club was GREAT! She is Asian and has a GREAT sense of humor, as I suppose anyone who has a specialty of colons and rectums must have! She works in the same building as the man gastro guy I chose at random to do my reaming a month ago---wish I had met her first! However, as for Irrtitable Bowel Syndrome, apparently it's just a term used to describe the symptoms I have after all else is ruled out, such as colon cancer, lactose intolerance, gluten intolerance, Crohn's Disease, and on and on. As humerously as she could, she made it known that many "elderlies" suffer such things as their pelvic organs are pulled ever onward toward their toes when standing, and, for those who have given birth a number of times, the incidents are even more numerous, what with rectocoeles, etc. The medical world doesn't really know what causes those delightful symptoms, what really works to alleviate them, and there are no magic pills for returning to normal. In other words, "Get over it, Lady----you will have good days and then you will have bad days, and try whatever works best for you!" She did say that we Americans eat far too little fiber in our diets, and that in Asian countries where fiberous food is prevalent, there seems to be very little, if any, irritable bowels! I asked her if she meant I should indulge in a pot of beans with a side of 100% grainy bread, topped off by 100% wholegrain bread pudding covered with whipped cream laced with pure flax seeds following a bout of explosive diarrhea, and she replied, "Precisely!" That brought the house down, and made it clear that fiber is needed, no matter which way your colon is malfunctioning, or is irritable. Sigh!

Swimming was wonderful in the pool, which maintained its temperature despite the cold, rainy weekend we had a few days ago. And a good soak in the hot jacuzzi is always good for what ails you, both body and soul.

The 30th party celebration last night at our club was a lot of fun! They had hired an 11-piece band that played music from the 40s, had it all decorated up with balloons, lights, mega tons of food, a beautiful cake with a couple of photos of the club from when it opened in 1982 to the present, and had professional dancers who performed the 40s dances that my father and mother used to do in my early days. A lot of neighbors showed up, and it was fun meeting them and conversing. One guy never stopped dancing and asking people to dance. I asked about him, and eventually they announced that Larry had just celebrated his 93rd birthday last week! May I PLEASE be able to dance like that on my 93rd!

Now I need to whip the house into shape, as I have been doing gradually with laundering everything, like sheets and towels, for my company who arrives on Sunday morning. And, of course, get in as much swimming as possible! By the way, HAPPY NASUS DAY! (The Ides today has always been my special day since my mother read me Shakespeare's Julius Caesar when I was in about the second or third grade. On Nasus Day, throughout my school career, I could opt out of attendance and just go wild doing whatever most interested me! Now that I am retired, I guess every day is Nasus Day!)
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Probably shouldn't be on the computer as we have a storm coming in, I went out a little earlier and took pictures of everything in bloom in our yard. I've never seen so many spring things in bloom at once.
Makes we wonder if summer will be another hot one like last year.

It must have been something in the air last night, Winnie was so restless she kept me awake moving around. I was sleeping on the couch and she was up and down then on the back of the couch moving from one end to another. I think she might have felt bad, she was panting a bit more than the temp seemed to call for, I gave heartworm pill yesterday so that could have upset her. I'm ready for a nap! For some reason I seem to sleep better on the couch in the back of the house usually, I think it is because the people across the street come and go at all hours and they have the loudest mufflers they can buy and their drive is right across from my bedroom window. I should turn them in, not only for the noise but there are restrictions as to how many unrelated people can live in the same house. There are usually 4-5 cars in their driveway in the mornings. Wouldn't you know the only rental on our street is across from us and it usually rents to students, some have been very nice but then we have those who aren't.
Oh well, time for the third course of my breakfast :) I made scones yesterday and they turned out really well.

Good morning Everyone !!! Well, my lawn has been mowed its first time already, mower had to be put on the charger for awhile, but I am so surprised it started as well as it did. One tire had to have some air, all in all I had a good morning, always love being outside. Only mowed about half my place, the part I have to keep walking through :D Out behind my house, has a lot of sticks to pick up yet. Maggie and I, work on that each trip out that way .

Busy day planned, just taking a break and wanted to say hi to everyone. Think we have rain coming in later on today, hope no storms, just rain, but haven't seen weather report in couple of days, so guess I will be surprised :?

Did errands yesterday, so have no plans to go anywhere until next Tuesday, when Maggie has her vet visit. Will get my test done at hospital earlier in day, for my visit to dr.the 26th, (the kidney taker) as her's is after 4, and will want to head home after that. Number of things I need to do that day, need to make a list as I think of them, cause I sure can't think of them right now  :P

Glad to hear that Echo and Kelly were during ok, hope we can get word from time to time, long trip they have a head of them.

Breaks over, time to get moving, or I won't.
Have a great day everyone, if its raining or snowing where you are, get that good book out.
Those on the road, please stay safe,
CArol :)

Taking a bit of a break...been raking up leaves for the past two days. Back yard is fenced in, and the leaves seem to congregate over the winter. So, I have them all raked into piles and contacted my lawn guy to come and pick them up. Used to be I could do it all, and still have dinner on the table...now a days...I can do about half. I also have hickory trees in the back, so there are nut shells over the whole lawn. They are harder to rake up than the leaves. Im done for today. Lawn guy comes tomorrow and will come back Monday with mulch for the back yard flower beds. I did the front last fall. This is too much like work...I envy those of you living on the road!

In an hour or so we have to take the old cat (Elvis) to the vet for his rabies shot. GD will come along so he can ride on her lap. He cannot be put in a carrier...well, he can if you want to clean up crap! But he does fine on a leash, so that's how we take him. He has really slowed down and is showing his age this year. He is 15 now. But he has been one of the best cats I've ever had...or I guess I should say that has ever had me! He's a wonderful lap cat and a snuggler. The kitten is affectionate too, but doesn't like to be held or sit on laps.

Okay, break is over. Hope everyone is having a wonderful day.

Good afternoon, everyone!

Tulips up, Goose on a rock - must be Spring!

Yesterday was an absolutely smashing day here, so nice I took a wee spin on my bike just to see if it and I still worked! That was a prelude to going to Women's Ride Day this Sunday afternoon. A local bike shop is sponsoring the ride; it's only a 10-miler, but ten miles is better than no miles. I'm looking forward to riding with a group again. All my life I somehow ended up riding with guys, so riding with a group of women will be a new thing for me.

Good thing I did that yesterday, as today has not been nearly as nice or as warm. Cloudy and much cooler, and we're looking at rain tonight through tomorrow night.

So I picked up our mail at the post office, removed a tick from Maggie (second one so far this Spring - I'm afraid it will be a bad year for bugs since we really had no Winter), dosed her with her flea/tick topical stuff, went to Petco to stock up her food, picked up a few Spring/Easter decorations at the dollar store and then stopped at WallyWorld for a few things. Danny and his riggers are dismantling and removing the big paper machine from the mill (it is a former paper mill) here, so I went in and took some cool photos for his Web site. Did some other administrative/clerical things, phone calls, etc.

Dave is now out on his bike and I'll be doing burgers for dinner. Not out on the grill, unfortunately; we have been under a fire watch and it is still rather breezy at times.

Reading the comments from today, I suddenly have a hankering for banana bread!

Will try to get some laundry done tonight, as it looks like our weekend is getting booked with FUN stuff! On Saturday, I'll drop Dave and his TT bike off near Lake Nockamixon State Park so he can recon the race route. While he's doing that, I'll have a prowl around. Then Sunday is my ride in the afternoon; Dave goes out Sunday mornings with a local bike club. Better get some laundry done or we'll be turning undies inside out pretty darn soon! :o :?

Banana bread . . . banana bread . . . :P

Better go have another stroll with Maggs!

Stay safe everyone and enjoy!
