Wow, Bluepinecones, I am impressed with your route planning talents. How was filling up with gas?

Similar to Wendy, I visualize myself getting into a tight place and having a crowd of people collect to have to help out this old lady get out of it without bending anything or knocking over any light poles!

Also, good idea, Colleen about not involving grown children so they won't worry. Problem is if I buy this in Ohio, I don't have any good friends down there. I think my son is OK with it, though. Mostly they are worried about my personal safety in campgrounds, which is the one thing I don't worry about. They are excited about my idea of buying this motorhome because they want to go camping with me!!

I already have one brave friend lined up who will join me in Grand Canyon and Lake Powell in late August and early September. Since she is from NY and cannot drive, she will not be a critical passenger, I hope.

Judy, like anything, the more you do it the more comfortable you will become with it!

I just love I climb out of my class A and someone asks me "how do you drive it" or tells me I am "brave". I tell them that I can't get the dog or cat to drive, and the GD is too young yet. So that leaves me!

The class C I had did wear me out driving it...Moreso than the A does. On hindsight, that may have had more to do with the suspension than anything else.

Bottom line is, if you want to go, you will learn to drive and it will become second nature to you. Just have fun!

Oh, and I think the reason the class C's have the rear view mirror is because they are half truck/van and half camper...they are already there when they out the two together.

HI- I am a newbie and was nervous about driving. I found a drivers education program that also trains emergency personnel, that would be fire trucks, hook and ladder trucks, SWAT vans. We booked an hour ( cheaper than a deductible on an accident claim or replacing a mirror). The trainer was amazing, gave us a few pointers and went out on the roads in high traffic, narrow streets, free ways, school zone, roads with trees overhanging and underpasses. He helped us calculate our clearance- got us backing up, parking, and it was the best hour ever!! I know I could handle LA traffic if I had too- God forbid- but ya never know
Trust your spotter and never back up with the Toad.. two of life's great lessons! You can usually find someone in a campground who is willing to spot for you.

I get to watch the fridge/freezer door swing around!
This happens almost every time I am leaving the place where I store Little Missy.

When I had Tips and Moxie, they shared the couch on the journey - I would put the mirror so that I could occasionally take a glance at them. Peaches travels up front now. The mirror is now looking straight back into the coach, as my bathroom door has been managing to come open - and when I hear a strange clink - will look, and yep, it's that door swinging.
