She's beautiful and looks to be a kissable snuggler!!

Am laughing too at the comment that she wasn't what you were looking for. Shade wasn't really what I was looking for either. I wanted a red Pom. And Shade is jet black. Wouldn't trade her for the world!!!

Well found the crate I want...but don't know when I can afford to buy it. It's called The Other Door & it's sort of close to what I had before ....But it's over $100.00 & I don't know about shipping costs...Just figured out that dogs are expensive....just like kids... :?

Well...coming to the gals here for some advice.....Missy is a sweet little dog & has a lot of great qualities...so with that I am happy...however, the big problem & for me it is a really important one, is that she vomits in the car. My car is old ('91 Lexus sedan), but in extremely great condition so the ride is smooth....I've put her in a pet carrier (zipped in)....she throws up, so I've put her in there unzipped so she can stand up & look outside....she throws up...I've taken her on short trips (3-4 blocks), longer trips (3-4 miles).... a little at a time to work up from short to longer....doesn't matter...90% of the time she throws up. If she can't ride in the car which is a smooth ride, she's not going to do well in the RV...that's for sure. Yesterday I took her with me to my son's house for my Grandson's birthday party...wasn't 2 blocks away from my house & she threw up. At my son's house (he has a Lab), my other Grandson brougth his dog (a Lab also) and she they played with her (& put up with her tugging on their ears & jumping on their backs & of course she had a great time (guess the Labs did too....and they were very careful with her)....so on the way home no throwing up....however this morning she threw up again here in the house. Daughter says I should get sample dog food at Petco & see if it's that (I have very expensive puppy food with chicken)...Kelly also said Chicken is hard to digest so try Beef sample for puppies....she also said to cook some broccoli &/or carrots (chopped up small) & add that to whatever dog food I feed her....I'm really stumped....I really want to make this work, but if I can't have a traveling companion dog.....well, that's not good. Does anyone know if they grow out of this or ...is this just how she's going to be....Just looking for opinions & thoughts....I'm really concerned & don't want to give up, but don't want to deal with this for the entire future either....Advice will definitely be appreciated.....

She might be different in a large motorhome versus a car.
Could be stress.
Could be a change of food might be in order.
Might adapt after a period of time.
Might have to resort to dramamine.

I haven't tried dramamine, but Simba also gets carsick...mostly in cars. In the RV, he was not sick as often, but noticed he went into his crate and layed down or slept while we were traveling. He never wanted to sit on the seat and look out the window, so expect even if he didn't vomit, he wasn't feeling well. One more reason I've decided to return him so they can find him a more stable home that doesn't move.

Hope you'll find a solution.

My dad's little dog always got car sick too. I successfully used Dramamine for him. Work really well. One pill, one hour before departure. He was nice and calm and no vomiting! Or, if that doesn't work, the vet can give you something too. I know my vet did at one point, but then also suggested that I try the OTC Dramamine. Good luck.

I had the same problem with my youngest dog, Georgia. She was always carsick and then terrified of the car. I had to carry her kicking and squirming into the car. I started driving her on short trips to the bike path for walks. I was doing it to get her to like the car a bit better, but I found that not only did she get to like the car, but the vomiting seems to have stopped. That said, I have not gone on any long trips with her, but it seems like it was the anxiety that was causing the sickness, not the motion. I also tried the dramamine on advice of the doctor, but it did not seem to help at the time. Good luck. Nothing is worse for you and the dog for her to be so sick and feeling yucky.

Thanks for your replies....Daughter said to try adding semi-cooked carrots to her dog food...OMG..she loves them....no throw up today so far...Have to go get her food but am going to ask for a sample pkge. to be sure she doesn't have a reaction. My daughter (Kelly) also told me to look for 'Greenies'....she says her dog loves them & when she takes him in her car, if she gives him one, he is so excited that he has one that he doesn't even realize he's in the car & no throw up....so I'll look for those too (she says they're pretty expensive though)....Oh Yeah! Gotta buy some carrots too for my 'vegetarian' friend.... :D
