What Do You Do With...

I've been doing a lot of reading on this forum over the last couple of years, enjoying everybody's comments, adventures etc. Reading the advice about full timing, part timng, looking for new rigs, pitfalls, problems etc. etc. And it got me to thinking the other day about checkbooks and other valuables.

From what I have been reading, it seems that the majority of RVers who are on the road either full or part time, carry debt cards. But what I was wondering, do any of you carry checkbooks or any other valuables, important papers etc. along with you? How do you keep them safe in your rig when you are not around?

We travel with passports, multiple credit cards, wallets, purses.....and the usual important travel and health documents same as if someone were traveling by car. And we individually decide how to keep them safe, hidden and under lock and key......and try not to publish their where about on public forums......

George and I traveled with 2 Mastercards (different accounts).
Neither of us kept both credit cards on our person, in case we lost our wallet or were rolled, etc.

I also keep a scanned copy of my passport on my computer (and will put a copy in my iPod) in case the passport goes missing.

Same for Abby's rabies vaccine info.

Don't have a lot of important papers that I actually carry. For the most part they are in a metal lock box in the closet. The rest, ie. debit, credit cards, SS card and birth cert are in my wallet.

In cleaning out the store room and stuff I had to go thru a ton of paperwork. Everything I don't need but can't just simply throw in the trash cause of name, addy, SS # and bank numbers I kept and will burn.

We carry our credit cards in our wallets/purse, other stuff in a container hidden from prying eyes.

There are absolutely an abundance of places to "hide" things or things to put things into
we have a safe have we used it? not sure its well hidden and a brute to get to
you will occasionally hear of bad things happening but they are not the normal most people in
the RV Community are honest...that said I do chain up the bike and go to measures to assure
that the generator sticks around in 5 years have only had one thing disappear and was really ticked
about it! when DH retired they made a Shepard's hook with the U in red on it we went to my
uncles funeral leaving the 5th wheel unattended for several days and when we came back it wasn't there
but that so rarely happens

I must say that this is a discussion that should not be held on a public forum. You are advertising what you carry and that it is in that motorhome. People who want that stuff usually know where the most common hiding places are. So be very careful to advoid discussions of this type of personal stuff. That is safety advice!!!
