for me, the split bed deal would be a total inconvenience, cause I use a topper too and that would have to be rolled up a little
to accommodate the slide coming in. Now, with that said, if I did have to deal with something like that, I would put the
crack at the foot instead of under my shoulder area where I'd be scrunching up my pillows and so forth. I'm sure my shoulder
would feel that crack even if I did have a topper over it, you know the story, the princess and the pea

Judy, my Vista is the 30T with triple slides. When the two front slides are in there is still about 22 to 24 inches width to walk from the front of the cab down past the kitchen and bathroom to the bedroom. The bed slides in and the top center drawer is accessible as is the closets and the overhead storage area. However, the bottom 3 center, right and left drawers under the closets are blocked. I can live with that. The inability to access and easily use the bathroom and refrigerator and microwave would be a deal breaker for me.

I met a couple that bought a 5er and when the slides were in they could not access either the fridge or the bathroom. He was embarrassed because he didn't have the slides pulled in when they were looking at it. They have to put the slide out to put up groceries after a wally world stop; a picnic area stop, out goes the slide for the bathroom and to get sandwich stuff. So be sure you can use and will like the layout. If it is tight, think twice. Only you know if it will work for you. If it'll do, think twice.

Had a friend that bought an awesome 5'er who had that problem. When the slide was in they could access the bathroom and bedroom but that was it. They had a U shaped kitchen and if they stopped for lunch his then girlfriend would have to climb over the kitchen counter to be able to get to the fridge to make anything to eat. So that is one thing I always check for.

Looked at a TT a few years ago in TN, was wild about the floor plan and amount of storage. But the slides were out while it was sitting in their over flow lot. I asked him to draw them in. He had to go back to the office to get a jump pack as there was no ele. When those slides came in!!! You couldn't get to the bathroom, the fridge or anywhere in the back of the TT. Deal breaker for sure!!!!

can't access my microwave when my slide is in and it also covers the tv area, but if I wanted I could open the window on the end and turn on the tv
and watch through the window if I really wanted to. But it was also something I never noticed when I bought it but it would not have been a
deal breaker at that point cause I got a really good deal on it from a friend. But I did take a lesson from that and when I look at class c's I look
to see what the slide covers up, (course I'm not buying one any time soon) but I'm still looking :D

I'm an RVing Newb but I would probably forget to remove the extra foam and wind up breaking or damaging the slide. We don't have slides in our RV and are perfectly fine with it. We wanted to be able to access everything at all times without trouble. Slides are great for adding roominess but they are also another thing to break. I would also feel the crack even with a topper (I understand the Princess and the Pea mentality) and I wouldn't like the wire around the edge either. If you have any questions about whether or not you would be completely happy with that RV, move on. There are tons to choose from!! When you find the right one, you will know it. It will feel like home!! No questions.

Although I don't have a Motorhome, I have to concur with what the others said. Being able to access the inportant things in your rig is important. Like Beth said, slides can act up and sometimes quit working.

That was the most important things I looked at first when I was looking at TT's. I had read on the forum about slide issues and I wanted to make sure I didn't have any. My TT is set up, so if I have my slide in, I can use it just the same as a regular TT that doesn't have a slide. In fact, the model I have has a model identical to it without a slide, so they were designed the same. I can access anything and everything in my TT and could well not even bother putting out the slide if I didn't want to. In fact, I may not even bother with one on my next rig.

Not that I want to throw anything more at you, but you might also want to perhaps take a look at some rigs without bedroom slides too, and maybe you already have. That way you can get the bedroom to suit your needs, have a regular matteress and not deal with those issues. Even climbing over a bed to get to the wardrobe is going to old after awhile especially if you have had knee surgeries or other issues.

Just my two cents worth.

Grandkids are still ages 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 (not all in same family, however) but as soon as they get to be teenagers, it will definitely be a tent!!!
