TX GTG Oct 31 2012 - Canyon lake

Let's get together!

TX GTG Oct 31 2012 - Canyon lake

Postby Birdie » Sun Dec 25, 2011 8:43 pm

Start planning for a Texas GTG the end of October 2012 and lasting until you want to leave. Your hostesses will be Birdie, Nancy and Longdog2, Colleen. We may be bringing a couple of other sistah's in to help us.

Reservations can be made on line at http://www.recreation.gov. Look for Texas, Canyon Lake, Potter's Creek. This is located 3 miles off hwy 306 between I-35 on the East and US 281 on the West. I-10 west to hwy 46 east to US 281 north to 306 and go east 14 miles to Potters Creek Rd go south 3 miles to park. I-10 east to hwy 46 in Seguin and take 46 to New Braunfels go North on I-35 about one mile, and go west on 306 about 16 miles to Potters Creek Rd go south 3 miles to park.

After the reservation area is opened, should be Jan 1. I will take photos and give descriptions of the various sites. Some are in trees and not satellite friendly, others are out in the open areas. They are water and electric with two dump stations available. Golden Age is 50% off. They also have a drive-in area (2 of them) but that makes getting close together a little iffy.

Lots of things to do around the area and we will post some possibilites for site seeing, eating, shopping and fun stuff. First Saturday of the month is Market Days in Wimberly, a small town that explodes during Market Days. Eating is always good and the lake makes a nice kayaking journey. For the ladies who want to fish...they got fish here too.

November should be cool, but not cold. It is a great time to be here because the weekend tenters are normally not around much and that makes it very quiet. Some of you made the trip to Schertz, Stone Creek RV Park in November of 2010 and saw some of the area in and around Gruene and New Braunfels. This is north and west of that area.

More later.

Questions, questions, questions.....

This is a GTG of WomenRV forum members. The Pink Flamingos are a bunch of us WomenRV women in Texas and Louisana and some other of our friends who have chosen to not join the WomenRV forum. We welcome all women who RV. We just want to get together and have fun, eat good food, see things we have not seen before and generally be silly. We are having several meetings in Texas and would love to capture any one passing through.

As far as I know...count me in! I'll make reservations as soon as you let me know which site would be satelite friendly and easy for Hope to get into. She's a little portly, ya know!

Glad you can come Sharon. I think it will be a while before sites can be reserved but the sites are all pretty good sized. You should have no problems.

Sharon, I too, am thrilled you are going to make it down to our play ground. I have photos of the spaces and will be posting them so you can look and decide where you want to tie up. Not to far down here from your people up in NE Texas - just a days drive down or up!

I have been just laying round doing nothing with Liz...hitting the bottle everyday, (never mind that it is just Club Soda) carousing around and generally getting into some big Trouble. You know what a bad influence she can be? Add to that Colleen, longdog2, and I have no chance of being a shy, retiring little old lady sitting around her RV doing good things like cleaning and packing and making plans for the Summer 8-) . Oh Woe Is ME :D :D

Hopefully be up soon. Reservations are a 6 month in advance. I thought 1 year but that is Texas State Parks. I'll let everyone know when I put the site stuff up.

I saw lots and lots of handicap spaces when I was looking around the site, all are 60ft long...just sayin..maybe we need to change the AR GTG to Texas???

I have to either be able to go into a restroom that is handicap/wheelchair accessible to help Ronnie brush teeth, shave, wash face & hair OR have a sewer connection to dump all the grey water he uses. ;)
