Huntsville GTG

Herschel here reporting in from Huntsville.
To get an idea of this gtg you need to understand that Carol and Miss Maggie and Tina and the rest of us furry ones stayed up in Monte Sano State park. It looks like this
and has trails that look like this
And a log house right on the edge of the park property that the lady said would be mighty nice to live in...if you like trees and pretty things to look at and nice trails to hike.
But when you drive 10 minutes down off the mountain to visit Sarah's house (they call them mountains here in AL) the tops of the mountains were the park is look something like this.
And when you get to Sarah's house she feeds people. Well, she would have fed us dogs too but some people didn't like that idea.
Nicki lets Remi and Stuart borrow his bed while the humans sit around playing cards.... Nicki was the best host. He let all of us run around his yard and invade his house as you can see.
When they were not eating or playing cards they left us behind in the rigs while they headed down the highway to Cullman to meet up with Wendy and see a Gourd Festival. Who knew gourds were so interesting?
This stagecoach won a prize.
And the musical gourds where very neat. I could hear Soos tuning one up.
And all the ladies listened to the gentleman explain how to make their own flutes. Either that or they were tired and just wanted to rest some.....I wasn't there so I don't know how far their tongues were hanging out.
But apparently they did suffer from some malnutrition because eating was again involved. Lt to Rt: Wendy, Tina, Carol and Sarah.
And be sure to ask Carol how she liked the "Congealed fruit salad"
And after all those visits to Nicki's house we invited him up to the park. Remi shared his car "blankie" for Nicki since he had shared his bed with us. Nicki said that now that he is older he can handle this "being a good" dog thing and he thought hanging around a campground and watching squirrels was fun.
The ladies didn't take all that many pictures of their stuff. Carol and Tina and Sarah got a thorough walk through a View. Sarah even got to drive it. It had some good features and lots of onside storage but there were also some less pleasing aspects.....like a folding couch for a bed. Gave Sarah a lot to think about and more ideas to compare to her "wants" and "needs" wish list.
But...you know us. We demanded our "Dogs on the Mountain" time. Here is Stuart trying to pretend that he can stop barking at squirrels long enough to poise for a picture.
Here is a shot of me and my buddy Remi. We prefer to hike separately than the squirrel crazed Stuart dog.
"Herschel, did you hear that? Are you sure there are only squirrels and chipmunks around here?" whispers Remi.
"Yes, Remi, those are just wild Alabama chippers....they only eat small dogs"
So until or unless we get out on some more trails this is it for now. Must say the closed park road doesn't get muddy so this rain tonight can't be an excuse not to get out there tomorrow.

PS.....Stuart said that his kayaking in Indiana counts sort of as "pre-GTG" activities.
Then he wasn't barking for squirrels but really really wanted to get in that water.....
