***UPDATE*** The dates for the gtg are Thursday, September 27 - Tuesday, October 2 and have been added to the subject line. The gtg will be in "F" loop at Valley of the Rogue State Park near Grants Pass Oregon

See the link below to make your reservations. Looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones as well!

After a fabulous gtg in Bandon earlier this month, I thought I would just throw out the idea of having one next year early enough for those of you that plan this far ahead :D

How about this:

Valley of the Rogue State Park
http://www.oregonstateparks.org/park_109.php
Karen (Oregonluvr) and I stayed there a few years ago and while there aren't full hookups in F loop, it looked like the best place to stay. We stayed at one of the round loops and it was really crowded and noisy. We drove through F loop one day and there was a Travel Supreme rally there so no problem for those with larger rigs. The sites are not riverfront but the river is just a short walk from the campsites.

So, with that in mind, here are some things to do in the area:

Crater Lake - 95 miles - Oregon's only National Park
http://www.nps.gov/crla/index.htm

Hellgate Jetboat Excursions - Grants Pass - 12 miles
http://www.hellgate.com/
I've done the short trip and it is awesome. We were thinking of the dinner trip

Historic Jacksonville Oregon - 27 miles
http://www.el.com/to/jacksonville/
This is a great place

The Oregon Vortex - 11 miles - okay, this is a tacky tourist trap but its fun
http://www.oregonvortex.com/

Ashland - 36 miles - home of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival
http://www.el.com/to/ashland/

The Jetboat company is only open until the middle of September so we need to keep this in mind when picking a date and it can be fairly hot in August. I am thinking after Labor day.

Please let me know if there is any interest.

Laura

I'm interested, but don't yet know which side of the country I'll be on. Go ahead and plan it - those who can will come. And I'm sure there will be some. I believe there's quite a few going to AK next summer - should be headed back into the US by Labor Day - so after would probably work well.

That jetboat excursion sounds like fun.

I will go....waving hand wildly. I just need to know a couple months (or less) so I can get that week off in my contract. I will be going back to work Oct 16th, have to replenish the slush fund.

I'd love to join you alll, but if it happens much past the first week in August I'm out. :( Have to be home to get ready for school. But my plan is to be in the NW for the month of July, visiting friends after attending the RVW Convention in Gillette, WY.

Been checking temps and I think it will be much to hot for me and Monty (high 80s/low 90s on average) as I have no air conditioning in my little trailer. So I will probably have to pass.

I just looked at their temps there now - and while I do see them getting into the mid 80's for highs some days, they have some nights down to 45! To me that would be perfect weather with no need for air conditioning. So I did a temp check for Sept 10th last year and this is what I got:

High: 66 F Average 67 Record 87

Low: 45 49 42

I was using Sexton Summit, OR for the weather as that's what the OR website uses for Valley of the Rogue State park.

Beth and all,
The more accurate weather would be for Grants Pass and/or Medford (Valley of the Rogue SP is located between the two towns). Sexton Summit is at 1900ft so will be cooler than the valley floor. Here is the weather for the next 4 days in Grants Pass:

Thu Sep 1 Fri 2 Sat 3 Sun 4
Sunny Sunny Sunny Sunny
Sunny Sunny Sunny Sunny
85°High 89°High 93°High 91°High
54°Low 56°Low 58°Low 58°Low

That looks more like what I expected - and with those lows, could easily go without air conditioning. I don't think I used mine more than a couple times in OR in my July and August there. Couldn't use it for two weeks in Salem in August and the nights were so comfortably cool ... I can deal with the hotter days if the nights cool off (as can Peaches). I got the other by clicking the weather link from the VoftheR SP website ... wonder why they use the one they do?

Hi Laura! My time is flexible so I can probably
swing where ever and when ever works
for the sisters. Thanks for planning ahead!

80* and my trailer would be an oven. Not about to risk Monty for a boat ride.

Whoo!~ I'm up for it!

I've been wanting to go to Oregon to visit a couple friends, this'd be a perfect excuse.

I'm happy to see there is interest in this gtg. I'll work on dates and get them posted later.

Marda, I totally understand about Monty. I wouldn't risk it with no a/c either. Even with the windows open, it would be too hot.
