Mini GTG - Placerville, CA

Let's get together!

Mini GTG - Placerville, CA

Diana (mtngal) and I met for lunch in Placerville. It's about half way between our homes.

After lunch we walked around town. We went into Placerville Hardware, Inc. It is the oldest hardware store west of the Mississippi. I was there over 35 years ago and it has doubled in size since then.

It was great meeting Diana and we are thinking about doing it again when she returns from TX.

Really fun to meet patty too! And a yummy lunch at Sweetie Pies under bluebird skies made a perfect day for a walkabout town.

Like most of our Gold Rush towns, Placerville suffered several devastating fires. By the time they built this bell tower, the early days of fire were over, but it still stands guard in the middle of Main Street.

Love all gtg's. I love how the "oldest" hardware store out west has grown and grown - can you tell which part is the original? Wonder if any is?

Love that bell tower. Was interesting last summer up on Monte Sano in Alabama to hike to where the fire tower is. Everything else is gone, but the fire tower still stands :)

What a neat area to have a GTG in. So glad you all enjoyed your time together and most of all that you shared it with us.

Thank you both for the Pix,

Maybe next time Evie and I can join you...have wanted to meet Patty for a while now. Looks like you had a great time. I love that area, have done it by rv and motorcycle.

Sharon and Evie.....let us know when you will be in N CA! :D

Beth.....the original store is what you see in Patty's shot....the expansion is into the store front next door. They have an amazing kitchen section; we found many cool items to add to the utensil thread. ;)
