I'm planning my 60th birthday celebration next year and it's going to be a cruise that will leave Miami on Sept 11 and will return to Miami on Sept 18.

The ports are great, Grand Turk, Half Moon Cay, St Thomas, San Juan and the ship is terrific, Carnival Valor. http://www.carnival.com/cms/fun/ships/c ... hipCode=VA Who can resist?

You will be contacting Alina directly through Carnival at 800 438 6744 x 82356. This will be the first cruise I have planned directly with Carnival but I think it will be better for the group as a whole. When you call and you are sure you are going to go, you can also ask for the easy saver fare but the fares posted are the group rates. If you choose the easy saver fare you will still be considered part of the group. Also, you will receive $100 on board credit (obc) for each cabin.

I have reserved inside-$555. ea person, outside-655. ea person, balcony rooms=$785 per person. These prices may go up as time gets closer so if you want to go on a great cruise for less than $80 per day and includes cabin and food. If you want a suite they will quote you a price when you call. I'm hoping for a big turnout with a very diverse group of friends. Feel free to share this info with your friends. I've learned, the more the merrier.

Not to scare anyone away but my reservation is in. :D :D I have never been on a cruise before so looking forward to a whole new adventure! Besides Carolyn promised that I didn't have to dress up for dinner past my black dress pants and some dressy tops! I am also taking suggestions for shore excursions! Whee......getting excited already....

Oh - you guys will have sooooooooo much fun. Have been to the VI - if they have an excursion to St. John - take it - very, very very worthwhile - while St. Thomas will be more commercial. But I just fell in love with St. John. (Maybe it was my tour guide LOLOL) Make sure to go to the fort in San Juan. I can just see the party going on now.

One more thing, do you need a passport to go on a cruise?

Probably not, but it's so easy to get one, and you're better off with one in case anything should happen in port whether you do or not.

I know when my husband I were going to go several years ago you didn't need one but I think there have been changes. I'll ask when I call , also I have a friend who's a travel agent. We were supposed to go years ago, but something that could only have happened to us happened!

YUP you need a passport. Just came back from a cruise to Alaska and you needed to have it recorded by the cruise ship or travel agent however you book the cruise. Pretty much need a passport for all travel any more.

If you want to get back in the US, you will need a passport otherwise a picture ID is all that is required.  Couldn't resist. Yes You need a passport. Wendy, I think you are good to go, no chance of Carnival going bankrupt.

Where is Cedar? We need to start with the bail money right now!!!

You guys will have a great time. There will be so many pics that when you get back, you will need to have show the pics GTG. Well.....maybe not show all of the.... Must leave a little bit to the imagination as opposed to knowing! I'll be waiting to hear your adventures. Who is going to make sure that eveyone has the rope tied around the waist and onto the railing so noone falls overboard????? Need a responsible person to Up for that and probably shouldn't be the Birthday Girl.

I loved St. Thomas. Good jewelry buys back in the 70's. San Juan I did the Fort tour and the rain forest. Loved the rain forest. My Carnival didn't make those other islands.

I hearby volunteer to be the responsible one! All in favor, say aye!! (Kind of strange in that I posted this several minutes ago but it didn't show up. Makes me wonder if there was a question somewhere in cyber land of me being responsible!!)
