Possible AR GTG

Let's get together!

Possible AR GTG

Postby VickieP » Sat Apr 03, 2010 2:05 pm

UPDATE:

The Arkansas GTG will begin Sept. 13, 2010 (Mon.) and end on Sept. 17, 2010 (Fri.)

Some ladies are arriving the weekend before, some may stay later and some will only be there for a few of the days.

It will be held at Petit Jean State Park, just south of I-40, west of Little Rock. Here is their website for more information, http://www.petitjeanstatepark.com/

Please note that the info on the next few pages pertains to a previous location that became booked before we could get reservations, you can jump to page 5 to get the current info, but I highly suggest reading the whole thread!

How about a GTG in Hot Springs, Arkansas? Doesn't that sound fun! Mitch as agreed to help me out here, but don't let that deter you!  It seems like a good location for people from the south central area and anyone else willing to travel a bit. We've been doing research and have come up with a strong contender in Lake Catherine State Park. http://www.arkansasstateparks.com/lakecatherine/

It has quite a bit to offer, including Rv & tent sites, cabins, hiking trails, boat & kayak rentals, fishing, as well as beautiful views of the lake, just to name a few. The rv sites range from $10. in overflow to $28.00 for 50amp, water and sewer. There are Rent-a-camps and cabins available.

By having it in late September, there should be nice fall weather. One of the special days is Sept.25 with a Dutch Oven cooking class and a moonlight kayak tour that evening for interested sistah's.

Mitch will post the campground map showing an area that I've checked on that would put us in a circle at the end. Sites 63 and 65 thru 70 are available for the days or any combination of days of Sept. 22-28. Mitch has laid claim to #70 and by the pics #68 would work with Ronnie's wheelchair. These are all full hookups, but if you are interested, you can choose sites that aren't. Here is a link of pics that show a lot of the sites http://s240.photobucket.com/albums/ff22 ... ?start=all

So what do ya say, any takers? Sure seems like it would work for a group of us!

I looked up the weather for that time there: Hot Springs Sept weather. Looks great.

Since I couldn't make it to a gtg I planned right now, will not try to book anything for that far advance - but am marking it down and if it's doable when it's closer, would love to come. That's one area still on my bucket list, and any chance to meet more forum friends I like to try.

Hmmmmm.....After my trip back east last year, I promised Hope that we wouldn't leave the Ca/Az area after Sept., but this would get us back home the middle of Oct....and Hot Springs is only 100 miles from the boy chicks home in Paris. AR. A mere hop, skip and jump for us. Barely a blink of the eye. Something to think about. The park looks beautiful, not as many trees to dodge as in Nashville. I can't believe that Mitch and Vickie are actually gonna get adjoining campsites. At least I wouldn't be in the middle this time and wouldn't have to dodge flying water baloons. 64 or 66 looks nice, might even be able to get my satellite in this time. Not promising anything, but sure would love to come.

I have stayed at Lake Catherine SP....nice park, and nice hiking trail. Don't know if I can make those dates since I'll be in NE, but like Beth, will mark it down. I will be going through the Hot Springs area in early June on the way to the PNW.

OMG, I would love to come too but will also be in the NE until late October. You all have a blast and I'll sure be checking on things in case something happens and I change plans.

That looks like something I might be able to go to. September has been the month we have been having hurricanes but hopefully we won't have any this year.

Not up to plans that far ahead yet. Sure would like to see you again and it looks like a great place. Will do what I can to work it out to get there.

I notice that the sites are discretely at the end of the loop/park. What wild women are we :o Vickie probably wants to not threaten the bail money reserve. ....Probably wants to cut down on Carolineagal just "happening' to meet folks that she "claims" to know......Liz was nice enough to vouch for her in FL but it was still suspect in TN.  Will mark the dates and see how the months line up. I don't plan that far ahead at this time...though a collect lists and dream. :)

Just be aware that the loud explosion and flames are from the steam plant across the water....and not from the women's gtg. Just letting off steam, so they say.

Yeah, well, if that happens you're liable to see me running down the road screaming "Help me Mr. Wizard, I don't want to be an operator any more!!!" Old habits die hard, dontcha know!

yea Sharon, if you did that MAYBE, Tina would forget about me for a minute!!!  I have been in that area before and know telling who I might run into, ACCIDENTLY of course!!!. Maggie and I, love to walk, so being down in some circle isn't going to stop us ;) I know a better way to the falls then what Liz and I found though, so maybe you'll be nicer to me :?

This GTG sounds good to me too, but Sept. is a ways off and right now, I have loads of things I have to do here, so will see what can happen. This year not too sure how much work I am going to do myself. Will see how the ole bod, holds out, keeping in mind, its older and last year I took totally off to play. The more I can continue to do, the more money I can play on. But sounds good to me, thats an interesting area and would love to see those I have met again and hopefully some I haven't met yet. So I am marking my calendar.

Safe and Happy travels

I won't be able to make this since i am definitely doing NY, New England this year in sept but LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Hot springs. You ladies need to visit a bath house and indulge in a bath package. Read my post from January for full description. I looked at Lake Catherine web site before I went but ended up staying at a private cg run by women right on top of a mountain, 10 miles from town. If you're interested i can dig up the name.
