Covered Bridge Touring, Rockvillle, IN Sept 15th-18th

Decided to move this from the Shipshewana GTG thread as it's getting to confusing having two different things going in the same thread. This isn't really a formal GTG but more of a side trip before some of us head up Shipshewana. Could turn into a GTG if enough people come for this too though.

As I mentioned in the Shipshewana GTG thread, I am going down to Parke County, http://www.coveredbridges.com, before the GTG at Shipshewana to do some back road and covered bridge touring. There are 5 routes in the area covering some 31 covered bridges, couple of mills and other sites. Base campground will be Rockville Lake Park Campground, http://www.rockvillelake.com/ There are lake front and off lake site, some with just W/E and others have full hookups. Also cabins too. Nature trails, Frisbee golf etc.

Dates are arrival on Sept. 15th and leave on morning of the 18th to head north to Shipshewana. At the moment it appears that at least three of us are going to be there and more are interested. According to what the lady at the park told me yesterday, no reservations are needed for that time of year. Sent an inquiry down to see if perhaps a number of us decide to meet there, if perhaps we should make our selves a reservation since we would be using x number of sites. Will let you know if I get a reply.

You all will love this area - if it's not raining! We've gone there a couple of times and seen EVERY bridge. Years ago there was a restaurant in Montezuma and every Wed and Fri evening everyone in the in area came in and karaoke = it was so much fun. But last time we were there the restaurant was closed. Maybe ask in the town to see if the just moved to a different place. And some of the colors should just be beginning.

Due to the fact I will still be sitting in PA waiting on my car, I will have to cancel my reservation and just catch up in Shipsey. My month in PA has had some fun times, but I sure am ready to move on...... and on..... and on....

Aw. sorry Nan, was really looking forward to you joining us to see the bridges. Do you mean it's going to take them another 3 weeks to fix your car? Long time, but as was said someplace earlier, parts and such sometimes take longer to get there and things to get done. But hopefully we will see you in Shipsey.

Hello ladies... My name is roberta. I have a 26ft travel trailer and would like to join ya'll for the Covered Bridge touring. My husband passed last week and this will be my first effort of going it alone and I am a bit anxious about handling such a large trailer. I live in Indiana so it will not be a distant trip for me and I think a good opportunity to see if I am able to safely travel alone. I think I will also go on up north to shipshewanna.
