Having been to Shipshewana and want to go back, plus see some of the sites IN has to offer, was wondering if any of you gals from IN or IL might be interested in working up a GTG down that way. I know Shipshewana has a big campground and an awful lot of things to do. But not being from the IL, IN area, I can't suggest anything. I know you had mentioned it once earlier Melisa. I know there are lots of neat covered bridges and places to see in Brown County, IN as well.

On edit: I have now set the dates for this GTG. Will be at Shipshewana Campground South, http://www.amish.org. If I can have an idea how many of you might like to come and what type of site you prefer I can let campground know so they can set aside an area for us. Will post reservation instructions once I know.As is with most GTG's, people come and go when they can. Come day or two early, leave day or two later, whatever fits your schedule.

Reservation information: Phone number - 260-768-4669. Website: http://www.Amish.org.

Update - 8/19/15

As of now we have
Brenda P - 18-24
Cheryl - Sept. 18-22
Kathy - Sept. 17-20
Myself - Sept.18-24
Liz - Sept. 18-24
Louise (HavingFunNow) Sept. 18-24
Nan - 18 - 24
Eileen - 18 -21
CArol - 18-24
Tina - ?
Roberta
Claudia and Howdy
Sarah - 18-24

Brown County is where Carol and the Driver are in the summer. They might have suggestions in that area also. And if you haven't meet them, it would be a great opportunity. I'd love to be there, but will not be in the area.

RV/MH Hall of Fame http://www.rvmhhalloffame.org/

The vast majority of RV's come from the Shipshewana to Elkhart area. Brown County is about 200 miles south of Shipshewana (down past Indianapolis).

Shipshewana Flea Market http://www.shipshewanafleamarket.com/

Shipshewana RV Park http://www.tradingplaceamerica.com/shipshewanarv-park/ There are two parts to the Shipshewana RV park. A "north" up at IN-5 and SR-120 and the "south" just south of the flea market on IN-5.

Official Shipshewana Website http://www.shipshewana.com/

Map of covered bridges in Indiana http://www.coveredbridgemap.com/in/

There are CG's every about every 10 miles across that part of Indiana (US-20 and SR-120)

Don't know Kathleen. Just tossing this around right now. Need to do some research etc. and then maybe wait and see if anybody thinks they might be up in IN or IL this summer. Friend told me about Pokegon State Park, so going to look into that too.

Thanks for those links Melissa.

Near this area are also some outlets for any item you can imagine for your RV. Great prices and lots of things to look at. So don't pass those by. Remember Elkart is the RV capital complete with the RV museum.

My plans don't have dates yet for July and August, but if I am in the area, I'd come by!! At this point, I'm planning to travel that way by Slingshot so would find a motel or cabin nearby.

Throw out a date(s) Sue, so I can see what my plans are and if I can make this one, too. Shipshe is pretty close for me and I might not be able to make the Mi gtg.

Thinking probably September. Crowds and warmest weather should be settling down by then and make things more enjoyable by then. Will do some more thinking on it and also some research on the campgrounds. I'm sure they are booking up fast for summer already.

Many Hotels in area. The Der Ruhe Blatz Motel and Blue Gate Garden Inn are very central to the action. The Super 8 Shipshewana is also near by on SR-5, main drag through town and auction.
