Come join Dave and I at Hardee Lakes. This is a park that is reclaimed land used for phosphate mining. It has an old Florida feel to it. There are 60 sites with water and electric and unlimited boondocking sites. The campground just opened this year and there is no reservation system at this time. If you want to come just let me know and a site will be held for you either with hook ups or without, your choice.

Nightly * $20.00 + tax $15.00 + tax * ($3.00 + tax for 50 amp service)
Weekly * $100.00 + tax $69.00 + tax * ($15.00 + tax for 50 amp service)
Monthly * $300.00 + tax $250.00 + tax * ($45.00 + tax for 50 amp service)

With tax a 30 amp site for one day is $21.40, 2 day rate is $37.45, 3 day rate is $48.15. This includes one car/truck.

If you come in just for the day the cost is $5.00 per car.

There are four lakes for fishing, canoeing, kayaking or paddle boarding, trails to hike, pavilions and a playground. It is located in the north west corner of Hardee County near Ft. Green Springs. They have a page on Facebook - Hardee lakes park.

Sounds great but I need to make some further decisions regarding travel this winter before I jump in. Similar to the state parks, is the cancellation fee a small one? In which case I may go ahead and schedule to hold a place..... Thinking here.

Barring something unforeseen, I plan to come. Water and elec. Site would be great, but if none available, I can boondock.

Please count me in too. If the Dutch oven group is there, will there be room ?? I'd like hook ups, might need my heater I only need 30 amp spot. I will have to look up directions, not sure what area of the state I might be in at that time .

I'll try to answer some of your questions. First let me clear something up. I said there were sites with electric or boondocking. By boondocking I meant without electric but they are not free. Sorry if I caused any confusion.

BirdyBird - I just need names and numbers to start with. Probably will need a deposit in Jan. I'll know more come next month as far as refundable/ nonrefundable. Let me know if you want a space held and what kind/ amps.

Liz - I'll put you down for electric. Do you need 30 or 50 amp?

Grammynmaggie - the park is about 2 1/2 hours from Melbourne. You would go south on I95 and then west on hwy 60. It's located between Wauchula and Bowling Green. If you decide to come we'll make sure you have good directions.

CArol - you would come down south on 27 and then turn right onto 98 by Frostproof. It would take about 1 hour from your park now. No problem with the dutch oven group. Dave and I are on the planning committee. If I know you're coming I'll make sure you have a 30 amp spot.

Speaking of the dutch oven group. If we have a few folks who would like to learn Dave and I would do a class on Wednesday evening for any interested. We also have ovens to loan if you'd like to participate in the DOG ( dutch oven gathering).

I checked on the map and looks like it is just a ways southeast of Tampa area. I probably won't be going back to FL this winter tho.

I am interested and would like a 30 amp site. You mentioned this is a new park, so when you can get the details about deposits and time frames for refunds (should that be necessary ) let me know. Thanks for thinking of us.

I, too, like the sound of this and I do believe the time may be just right. I would need a 30 amp, or if necessary, I too can boondock.

This may be a real possibility for me. I've had three good checkups and my fourth is Jan 26th which will be one year done. I'll be free to go for six months. I would love to meet you and Dave and learn about Dutch Oven cooking. I can't commit right now, but if there is an extra 30amp space after the 26 of January, I'll be there.
