Karen (retiredhappy) and I just spent 3 days at South Llano River State Park outside Junction TX. It's off I-10. We had back-in sites with water and 30 amp electric. There were really big class A rigs on the other side of the loop, so 50 amp is available. Dump station is right outside the park. The sites are far enough apart to suit me. Once the weekend kids and barking dogs left on Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning, the place was beautifully quiet. On a morning walk with Olive, I saw 14 deer (a herd in a field) and a wild boar. On another morning I saw a flock of wild turkeys. An armadillo showed up on one afternoon walk. There were lots of birds and butterflies. Also lots of biting bugs. Big rain storm last night we were there, so the ground got muddy. There's a small old cemetery just behind the park office. $4 entrace fee and $20 site fee. It's a 45 minute drive to Lost Maples, a nice day trip. Karen can probably add more.

She made it.
Come on we need the update on how the rig worked for you out in the real camping world!

OK.
Betsy drives great. No problems there. Unfortunately the roof still leaks. Or, more accurately, there's a new leak. All the fixes are water tight. I took it to my RV guy as soon as I got home. He fixed the cracked caulk (?) he could see around the sky light. I've decided to have the entire roof recaulked, anywhere that hasn't already been done recently. I can't go out expecting another leak. At first I was angry that the repair guy hadn't caught the problem the last three times he's been on the roof. Then I remembered that I told him to keep the cost down and he looked only at what I complained about. If I'd known then what I know now, I would have had the roof recaulked as soon as there was one leak. Live and learn. The size and layout of the rig is perfect for me and Olive. Olive is a wonderful camping dog! Now that's a great surprise, and I am very eager to get back out on the road with her.

In spite of the rainy weather we had a good time. My microwave decided to bite the dust and as many of you know, I'm the microwave queen. I had to rethink my cooking for the trip. Chris, my RV guy is coming this morning to replace it. And wouldn't you know it, the day after we got back the sun came out. We're trying to figure out exactly what kind of hunting dog Olive has in her - when she saw an armadillo she went "on point". All three of the dogs got along great and walk well together.

We met up for a three day camping trip to So Llano SP. Park is really pretty and the sites are large and fairly separate. There is a small family cemetary on the grounds. We pretty much had rain with a few dry spots to walk the dogs. I love to listen to the rain on the roof and Nikki will too when she gets all the leaks plugged. The dogs got along well together.

There are a few pics, taken between raindrops. It's just a matter of getting them onto Photobucket. The GTG post is Karen's domain. I'll post mine after she starts the thread. (I wondered how long it would be before someone shouted PICS! We want PICS!)
Thank you, Vickie.

I was afraid to scroll up any further, thinking that Nikki's site was in the cemetery!

Nope no cemetery camping, Vickie. Here's a pic of Karen fiddling with her new phone.
and a pretty bush with thorns and berries
There were some beautiful flowering cacti. But it was raining harder so no pics and we scampered back to the rigs.

Great pics - and the two topics have been merged and moved to the gtg room - as the one in cg wasn't really giving cg details as much as gtg details, and the other is definitely gtg
