FL Hillsborough River SP GTG 1/25/14 - 2/2/14

Target dates for the 2014 JANUARY GTG at HILLSBOROUGH RIVER STATE PARK are Saturday, 1/25/14, through Sunday, 2/2/14. Of course, you can come early, stay longer or choose any dates that work for you.

Don't delay making reservations because last year the campground was fully booked. As far as plans go for the GTG, there aren't any official plans. Everyone pretty much does what they want. So, if that sounds good to you and you are up for a fun time, come on down.

Over the last two years, one of the potluck dinners has turned into a fleece pajama party, so you may want to pack fleece.   Walmart sells fleece pajama bottoms cheap and they are warm. Wearing fleece pajamas is strictly voluntary, but lots of fun around the campfire.

FINAL UPDATE WITH EVERYONE WHO WAS AT THE GTG -
Hope I did not miss anyone who was there:

Annette & her new rig - Site 50 (1/27 - 1/31)
Barbie & her friend, Cathy - Day visit
BELLE
CArol - (through 2/3)
Chris (Vermont)

All righty----I am booked into site #47 from Sun. Jan 26 thru Sun. Feb. 2nd. I saw that my old site from last year was still available, but it's a bit away from the loop. Good work, Linda and Sandy! I loved that park! this year I will be bringing my canoe, too!

I'm considering coming to this GTG and have been looking at sites on-line. Any advice about how to choose a good site without seeing it? And what about overnights on the route from San Antonio to the GTG? I'll do my research, but thought it might be interesting to learn some details about how each of us plans a trip like this.

Thanks,
Nikki

Nikki, you can go to "site details" and see some pics of the spot. It's hard to tell exactly what it's like, but it gives a little idea. Hope to meet you there! I found all the sires at Hillsborough to be really nice last year. It's a fun park!

I'm in. Site 48, Arrive 1/26, leave on 2/2. Anybody want to caravan? I'll be heading east from San Antonio.
This is my first GTG, so somebody please tell me how this works. Pot lucks? Does that mean everybody brings a dish? And I've read that sometimes people sponsor meals? How does that work? And don't tell anybody but we need to plan a surprise b'day party. Shhh... Yikes, only six months to go!   Oh yeah, and flannel. Put flannel on the list. Is it cold at night? Oh, sheesh, just settle down.

This will be fun. Only people who like birthdays more than me are in kindergarten! Walmart has special birthday pants. Roadweaver you need to get yourself over there and buy a pair of those fleece PJ bottoms printed with cupcakes!!!

The Assistant Sultan & I are still planning on being in FL for the winter. Before I make reservations for the FL GTG, and if there are still sites available, I would like to wait a bit for Mom to finish her radiation and see how both she & Dad are doing. We don't want to miss this GTG but right now my parents take priority.

The Sultan & I plan to be in 'FL for the winter, too, but like Irmi & the Assistant Sultan, we are going to wait to commit for the GTG....at least until after my surgery and what ever else the medical folks say I need...Hopefully, nothing else....

Dang, I'll hate having to miss this one. But I'll get over it as I expect to be on a warm beach somewhere.
