Mitch and VickieP - Thanks for everything that you did. That was a memorable time. Thanks, also, for bringing your hubbies. I do believe a great time was had by all. Couldn't help yourself, hiking, birding, kayaking, sightseeing, eating, drinking, just a wonderful week. Thank you both for all that you did to make it happen.

Well, we drove all the way home yesterday; didn't stop halfway as originally planned. It's good to be home, but I'm sure sorry it's over already!!
I had a wonderful time - everything and everyone was next to perfect. Good company, good food, good weather, good State Park...

Not much in the way of pictures to add...

First, your Hostess - The Doofus. Okay, so maybe she's NOT a pure blonde...more strawberry blonde.
But cute, nonetheless. Just wish she had a better personality and wasn't so lazy...I'm just sayin'.

Abby spent more time running around than resting on her sofa...

Ronnie was pretty much - "Do these women EVER shut up?"

Image

Here's Tina (who drives the ShortBus) using the Short Broom (my broom...)
I think it's possibly a little too short for her?

Image

I just love this picture of Carolyn.

I don't know if this panorama will work here or not. Just gonna give it a try to give you a feel of the layout of where we were...

And where is the picture of Mitch demonstrating how to gracefully get in a kayak? It wasn't until it was over that I realized all those pictures were on YOUR camera, and none on mine.

Seriously, though, thank you is little reward for all the work you did preparing and executing this gtg. Wonderful job, and as you said, good times, good food, good friends. Thanks again.

Now darn it, I am now so sorry I missed the kayak instruction time. It must have been outrageous. :D

Mitch & Vickie, dittos on the kudos for the AR gtg. You gals were great! Sarah and I are at Crater of Diamonds hot as heck and not good internet service. Just glad that pix of me didn't get posted of me getting OUT of the kayak. Everything was wonderful.

Sarah found a French press coffee pot in "town" yesterday (I don't do coffee) and when I get a chance you will see the process.

Thank you to Vickie and Mitch for all their planning and encouragement for fun. Thanks to all the brave sisters who traveled in spite of air conditioning repair bills...or no air conditioning at all. The California Sharon who doesn't pay any attention to miles on maps and drives east anywhere.....and she knows us! Each seat around the campfire added to the richness of the experience. Thank you all and looking forward to another real campfire ...down the road. Until then, this forum campfire will do.....the beers have a lot fewer calories

On our way to visit GKs in Wake Forest. What a great time!! All the gals were exactly what they portray on the Forum - witty, great conversationalists and plain fun to be around. And of course, Mitch and Vickie were fantastic hosts-food, drinks, food, drinks, food, drinks  you get the idea. And that was on top of all the gifts. And all the DHs weren't so bad either :D Loved visiting all the "homes" and trying out the various kayaks (except for Beth's-she was too lazy to get it set up  Did I mention I REALLY enjoyed myself  I'm looking forward to future GTGs -maybe one this winter in FL. carold

We're home, too! Ahhhhhh

Thank you ladies for all your appreciation for what Mitch and I did, but to be honest, if it wasn't for you all showing up and contributing to everything from food to fun, it wouldn't have even happened. Mitch, as much as I'd like to say something mean or funny, I'll just say that you're the BESTEST!!! (Now I'll go back to being mean to ya  )

I think I have some more pics on my camera, but it'll have to wait until tomorrow.

If you aren't tired of pics from this gtg - I finally updated my blog: http://ontheroadwithbeth.com/blog/2010/ ... -women-rv/

(Carolyn, I borrowed your group pic - hope you don't mind. If you do, let me know and I'll change it.)

Beth, I'm sure if you would have tried a little harder you could have found an even worse pic of me!

Vicki, You forgot your blue tarp over the firewood, so now it's tucked into my storage cubby. We saw a truck going around to all the empty sites, collecting leftover firewood, so we called Marslet and Jim and told them since they were leaving their rv and coming back after their trip to KC to come snatch it before we pulled out, so they did.

You already saw how Mitch demonstrated graceful entry into the kayak. Here’s Carolyn demonstrating graceful exit....with a little help from her friends.

Tina took Sharon in her 2-person kayak.

Some of us went out again on Thursday morning. Nice Vicki tried some fishing from her kayak:

Shoot!!! I hate when Verizon disconnects just before I post. So to hopefully repeat, loved trying out all the kayaks (especially yours, Beth  ). Now have to think about one or two seaters. Great pics, but like it when I have editing powers  Love going back and reliving the gtg. carold
