Well, I tried again today, while in Murphy, busy constantly. The way I'm going I am not going to get a reservation. Cell not working here and no long distance on home phone is not working this time. Usually I never have troubles making reservations for GTG's this time I am. Not an 800 # so have to use cell.

Didn't someone send an email and they got back to you? Forget who or am I dreaming, but maybe that would work. I am getting very discouraged, thinking I am not meant to go to this GTG, hmmmm You all have a good time, I'll be up there in the area somewhere :D

CArol :) I don't even remember how many times I have tried, thinking they leave that phone off the hook or someone is visiting on it.

Nan, how did you leave a message, I only get busy signals when I call .

Well, I know what you mean, Carolinagal. I've been calling and calling. Finally, I sent an email and got an answer back within a day. The email address I found on the website was south@amish.org and my response was from (someone named) Heaven. They need the usual contact info plus a credit card to hold the resv. which I don't want to give via email, so I will keep trying to call it in. But, I am coming, in a tent, with my husband, staying 9/18-21.
Can't wait to meet another contingent of women I've been reading about!

Not sure when everyone else called, but I got through right away around 4:30 PM Central time and received the confirmation mail in 2 days.

Maybe if you trust any of us and your plan are definite, a couple of us could call for you?

I sent an email and so we'll see what that brings. I do hope they will call me at my home phone, making a special trip out to call them and then only a busy signal, does not set well here after a certain number of times.

If it continues, I may have to adjust my thinking to the fact that maybe I am not supposed to make this GTG, for some reason or other. You had a nice thought Cheryl, thank you, but I just can't believe I've had this much trouble trying to make a reservation, this has never happened to me before.

Anyway, I'm hoping to hear something from them today.

I just got through at the CG and gave my CC info, so I'm good to go. Someone (Heaven) is there right now, so maybe a call would go thru for you, CArol.

Yay !!! My email worked, Heaven called me and I'm all set !!. I am so glad, as I hated to be a couple more days before trying again. I just can not go out everyday and try to make a ph call, for any reason !!

I have had no power for a couple of hrs. so that means I can't really do anything, clean kitchen, laundry or run vacuum, BUT I do have this ancient phone that I thought to plug in, no ph service without electric either (progress, you know) and I had no more then plugged it in and she called me. So even with no power all was good this morning. Power is back, now to work, just wanted you all to know, I will be there from 18 to 24th Yay !!!!!

We're done, confirmed and scheduled for 9/18-21. No more ? for me! If my husband gets bored, he'll go to Angola to the family cottage a few miles away: no worries.

Maybe Saturday night as a majority of us won't be getting there till later in the day on Friday, from Rockville. As is, most nights are kind of potluck as everybody just throws in whatever they have on the table and we all eat together. Lunch and breakfast, well, that's another story. Or at least that has been my experience with my first GTG up here. You are arriving on Thursday, so will have to amuse your self till the rest of us get there, hahaha

I don't know if you have tried this but ...one thing we have enjoyed (church group or rv park in Q) is called a hobo soup
every one brings a can of whatever and it's all dumped together..the more the better have added cooked ground beef to the mix
don't need to plan other than when and have a pan big enough to stir and heat

Dang! Was hoping no one would think of a pot luck night. I'm not the biggest cook since I got divorced eons ago. :?

Cheryl, your offering towards the meal, does not necessarily have to be something you have cooked, we have others who don't cook, do not like to cook, (I'm one of them) or don't want to cook. There are things you can pick up at the grocery for your offering, fruits, drinks, chips and dips, rolls etc. etc. or nothing. So don't sweat the small stuff :D , just come and enjoy yourself. We always seem to have enough food, at times to much and its never been a problem if someone came with nothing, in fact, I might have done that a time or so in all of the years, arriving late or whatever reason I had.

So don't worry, just be there, I'm anxious to meet you,

This sounds like something we used to make at Girl Scout camp with hamburger and different kinds of soup. We called it "Campfire Stew". It also sounds like my recipe for "Cowboy beans" which has several different types of beans, bacon and hamburger in it. I just might make that and bring it along with some nice French bread for Saturday night.
