TX GTG Oct 31 2012 - Canyon lake

Let's get together!

Like I said earlier, we will need to check closer to the actual GTG. That burn ban could be reimplemented by the end of the week. It dries out fast here and we have 6 weeks to go.

I would love to have Maggie and maybe Carolyn cook dutch oven for us but I live here so I am realistic about the burn bans.

@Colleen,

I can bring my dutch oven to cook a dessert in it, but remember I have only done this once with the help of my friend Steve, who gave me his dutch oven. :D

I may need guidance from Maggie. :D

That would be fun and we could all learn. I hope we get enough rain to keep the ban off but no rain during our week there.

Has anyone been to and/or want to go to Natural Bridge Caverns ? They are 32 miles from The CG. Every time I'm in San Antonio I wanted to go, but schedule wouldn't fit. DH says they are really great. I hope to make it during the gtg :P

Here is a link to the caverns:

Chuck and I drove down and went to Natural Bridge Caverns in 2009, I think. We enjoyed them, but one of the tours was really too hard on him. There was a lot of climbing stairs involved.

I've been there years ago, took my two nieces. Since it's not wheelchair friendly (unless I give him a big shove  ), we won't go this trip, but do plan on doing the drive-thru wildlife thing nearby, before the gtg.

My DH is somewhat limited in walking. Steps are a no-no. He has one of those mobility scooters, but does not use it as much as he should. He pushes himself to the point of needing 3x pain meds and bed for a few days. Do you know the name of the drive through wildlife place?

Thanks to Mitch, she pointed out that I had put "now" instead of "NOT" wheelchair friendly.
The name is Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch.

I want Bethers to add a "scatch and sniff" app to the forum. Think she can come up with that before you start all the cooking down there? :)

Tina, if you're talking about Mitch's cooking, just position your laptop near your open black tank valve. :o

If they post pics, I think our imaginations can do the rest.

OMG, Vickie - laughing so hard.

I've been wondering why Mitch isn't included in the list of those people would like to be seen doing DO cooking. Think she's one of the "pros" at it. And, yes, I've eaten her food. It's my own that gave me food poisoning - should the OR gtg be worried? And I definitely want to have something Mitch cooks in her smoker. Then again, anything anyone else cooks.

Why, thank you, Beth. You're so much nicer than Vickie!
However, I wish those statements of yours were true.

Hey, did you get a smoker yet?
Sharon did. Need a report, Sharon...

Haven't used it since I made the smoked salmon. Son and/or DIL have been doing most of the cooking with me contributing a little side dish or two. But...I have an experiment planned for snack or hore dervies time in Tunica. You guys can be my victims... errrrrr.....taste testers before I make it for the Tx GTG. :D
