Sept 11-16 2011 PA GTG at Lake in Woods

OK - it's finalized. There will be 2 gtg's in PA this summer. The 2nd one will be at http://www.lakeinwoodcampground.com/

Place: Lake in Woods, Narvon, PA (in the middle of Amish country)

Coming so far: Beth, Shirl, (200) Anita (I), Li (M), Irmi (H), Liz (J), Dee (C), JoanE, Debbie, Paulette will visit.

Dates: Sun Sept 11th - Fri Sept 16th (5 nights)

Rates: $36 per night

Check-in Time: 3 pm. (They WILL be full on Sat night, with most not leaving until afternoon, so please, plan to come in between 3 and 5 if possible and I'll plan to have some type of food for everyone Sunday at 5 or 6).

When making reservations, please mention you are coming for the Sept gtg with Beth, in her blocked section. They will ask lots of questions, including length of rig, etc - as these sites are mainly wooded, and some are better suited to longer rigs, etc.

If anyone wants to come early or stay late, regular rates will be in effect on the weekends ($51 or $58 per night).

Rates include full hookup (w-e-s) as well as cable tv and wifi. 30 and 50 amp service are available. Campsites have fire rings.

This is the campground I'll be workamping at this summer. They want to try to put the group together, but say this can only be done if people make reservations ASAP. They fill up quickly with just spots available here and there - so it's important to get reservations in right away to be anywhere near each other. My site won't be near the rest, but that won't be any problem.

We will be looking at where all we want to go - including some tours to Amish country and probably one buffet at Shady Maple (if you've never been there, you have to go once!). Most of the time will be just chatting and enjoying each other's company. OH, and eating, I'm sure

Anyone coming - do NOT use your GPS to get you to the campground. It will take you on a route you do not want to take your rigs. Well, Liz could but I'll post directions close to the date or you can get them off their website (http://www.lakeinwoodcampground.com/directions.html), but please, don't use the GPS. Depending on the direction you come from, you might be ok, but I'd rather not chance it. And remember, the horse and buggies have the right-of-way.

Just looked it up - and the very, very large Hershey RV show will be starting this week also - running Sept 14-18, 2011 - which we could make a day trip to if anyone is interested.

I just got information from LIW that they have temporarily blocked 11 sites for us. They have also blocked the gazebo for our use for the entire stay. The sites and gazebo are the area I hoped we'd get If you look at their map ( http://www.lakeinwoodcampground.com/campsite.html ) put your cursor over the area to the left of the lake - the sites blocked are: 200, 201, J, I, M, N, A, B, C, E and G/H. G/H is a brother/sister site.

C'mon folks, make your reservation now. If we fill up these sites, they'll find us more. But let's get these full! Oh, if anyone wants to come without a rig, LIW has some great park models and unique rentals. I don't know if they'd give any discounts on those, but say you're with Beth's group and you never know

Since they aren't open now, they have shorter office hours than they will come the season (ha, I'll be in the office some of the hours once the season starts).

Woohoo - we're getting this thing going. And Li, you'll just have lots of friends to help you - or laugh with you! Going into my 7th year this summer and I still am learning things!

Ok, I just reserved online, referencing Beth's gtg & reserved section, but didn't request a specific site. They can put me where I'll fit best & save longer sites for bigger rigs.

I just called the campground and they haven't gotten online yet, so they're not sure which site I'll be in. Like Liz, I'll take whatever they can put me in.

I also got a confirmation, and they intuitively knew that I was with Beth's group...maybe because I reserved Site M. I didn't have to call or anything additional after my on-line reservation. So all is good to go with me too! Damn, I'm nothing if not lucky, eh???
