City and State: Quitaque (Kitty-Kway), TX

Name of CG: Caprock Canyons State Park

CG Website: http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/spdest/find ... k_canyons/

Overall Rating: (on a scale of 1 – 10) At least an 8

Pros: There was an at least 40' Class A across the road from me, so good sized back in sites. Separate hookups and tent camping areas, 30 amp and 50 amp sites, fantastic views, good hiking trails, clean bathrooms with nice shower facilities, Sheltered picnic tables with wind breaks, fire rings.

Cons: No FHU, electric & water sites don't have canyon views, no trees so trailers are in full sun - this may not be a con for everyone but my trailer heated up even in March.

Comments: 35 electric and water sites, TX state bison herd is housed at the front of the park. Good hiking, mountain biking and equestrian trails. There is a lake with swimming and catch and release fishing (lake was way down due to drought) The park is 13 miles from Turkey, TX - home of Bob Wills. Also 70 miles from Palo Duro Canyon State Park.

Rate: $ 15/20 night for 30/50 amp plus $4 day per person entrance fee - unless you have the annual pass.
