I had planned to go up to Acadia in Maine during October but have heard that the campgrounds are closed (usually). Has anyone camped in ME in October? Did you find that there were services? I would be there the first & second week of October. I am not too concerned about tourist attractions but I would like to see Acadia.

The Acadia National Park cgs are open until October 31st, and through November, weather permitting. No hookups, but they do have water & dump stations. Should be a good time to go.

Seems to me most of the cg's I used when I did my Sept/Oct in Me were open till mid-October. I didn't stay at any of these in this link - but this is 3 cg's near Acadia owned by the same company - in the link it shows their prices, and also their closing dates. They close 2 of them 10/10 and the 3rd 10/23. I'm guessing they only keep one open at that time because things are so much slower. http://www.barharborcampingresorts.com/ ... 010/RATES/

I would stay at the ANP campground if you're comfortable without hookups.

But, like Liz - it's a great time to visit there as long as you're prepared for cooler temps. You'll also have no crowds - the reason I like traveling before Mem Day and after Labor Day the most for many areas.
