Las Vegas in October

As a brand new RVer, still not on the road because I just bought my rig, I am sending a hug and much gratitude to all of you who replied to my first posting about the butterflies in my stomach. I'm starting to breath a tad easier. I'm reading everything I can get my hands on about RVing and still on the fence about what I do with my house. Would prefer to rent it furnished from Oct. to June but that may be Pie in the Sky dreaming. Which takes me to my question: Where to stay in Vegas in Oct.. If all goes well and the stars align, I plan to be there sometime in Oct. to do some work. That will pay for my time there and my gas to get there from Bend, Oregon. Whee! However, after looking at as many camping sites as possible, I have only found sites that offer all kinds of amenities and are very expensive. I would prefer small, quiet, away from the Strip, my only needs are electric and H2O. Is there such a place? I'm not going to tow anything this first time out so will be driving my 24 ft Tioga to get around in. (11 mpg) Any and all suggestions/ideas are more then welcomed. Hope all is well with you who are out there. Your blogs about your travels and how you came to the decision to go on the road really give me a lift. Ohh, and thanks for sharing that many of you also had doubts before you took the plunge. I was comforted by that. For all of your input, Thank you so much! Patty

Well, Patty, I have only been to Vegas once and that was to see what all the hoopla was about. Found out that they have one everything and somethings I never heard of. I'd expect that you would definitely need to have membership in some of the discount clubs for your best rates. Have you checked out the amount of time that folks give you a discount? You might have to look at staying away in a smaller town and driving in daily. I did find that there was a neat busing system that was not that expensive and you could ride all day at least between downtown and the strip. Not sure how much farther it would go.

Bet the left coast sisters will have lots of information for you. They'll wake up any time now. Good luck. keep us posted on your adventures out there as some of us middle coasters will be headed west one day.

Do you need to be right IN Las Vegas? If not, I'd look into the NF campground. You can find it (Fletcher View), and other cg's here:

Main Street Casino is also on the list - less expensive without the amenities of the resorts. I didn't look beyond there. Main St would be better for you if you need to be right in town - but I like the out-of-town places and would pick Fletcher :)

She doesn't post often but we have a member in LV (Lotus, I believe). She might be able to help too. Just send a PM.
Am really interested in your travels and experiences as new RVer. I do not have one yet but my monster butterflies are getting smaller thanks to many of the wonderful ladies on this forum.
