Hello, fellow female RV'ers! Long time no write...sorry....busy working. Am considering moving from Deming, New Mexico to the "Big City" of Albuquerque for better work opportunities. Gonna sit tight for a few days outside of A. in Las Lunas until the big balloon festival is over (Oct. 11).....does anyone have any recommendations for a reasonable campground in the southern regions of the big A?

hi ya Cheeriogirl, don't really know of any campgrounds as any time I've been
through Albq. its been just that, THROUGH, but I always thought the northern
part of town was much nicer than the southern part. Sorry I'm not much help.

You might want to Google Enchanted Trails RV Park or High Desert RV Park. I have not been to them but according to my Trailer Life Directory they had reasonable rates last year.

I believe in campground guidebooks or whatever they're called. Rand mcnally makes a great one. Gives LOTS of info about the cg's and rv parks and shows you on a map where they are located. I've used one for years...last time was in 07.

Rand McNally puts out a campground directory? Could you post a link online to it?

I went looking around for you Lenora, and guess what - it's out of print! Here's the link to the page telling us that...

And just in case you didn't know, Trailer Life makes a campground directory. Here's a screen shot from the 2008 version.
Note the map is on the left, details about the park, including ratings at the bottom (scale 1-10) are on the right.
This is a very small map as I had to make it be able to fit on the forum screen. I use this program in conjunction with my S&T.
It's easier to map on S&T, but there seem to be more and/or different campgrounds on the Trailer Life program.

Mitch, bless your heart. You are on it like flies on a cow pie!
I do have the Trailer Life directory and you know I bought the Streets and Trips program, so I think I'm covered. Or you'd think so! :o ;)

The third piece of the puzzle is the GPS - it's the Trinity of Travel! Although I'd almost give away that dang GPS...when we were out in the Smokys last week, TWICE the bugger took me down a garden path - literally. One dead end (nightmare) and one horse trail (partial nightmare, or at least a bad dream).

Do you have the Trailer Life paper directory, or the DVD version?

Oh, come on - how often do I have to tell you - I AM THE NICE ONE. You make comments that just lend themselves to ridicule and I let them pass. I do the same and you're all over it like flies on a Meadow Muffin!

you girlies! at it again,, i see!

no, really,, I have LIVED by those campground directories all my camping life (since the 70s) and i've found some very interesting cgs and isolated cutie pie independently owned RV parks that were just delightful and extremly memorable!

my daughter still talks about the one between durango and cortez,, near a town called mancos,, that was just delightful! was owned by a family and they had a little girl and she went w/ us one day out 4 wheeling and we picknicked and had a great time. That night they showed home movies (before the days of videos) of the place in winter,,, to us texans it was unbelieveable! Also in winter the elk came up to their house and ate the hay they had put out for their horses.

Woulda NEVER found that place had it not been for the directory.

just sayin'.......................................................... ;)

Mitch, I have the TL directory book. We always used it when I use to RV with my XDH and I found it pretty easy to use.
PS- meadow muffins are different from cow pies right? Aren't meadow muffins and road apples the same thing?

Newbies, when we say just about anything is open for discussion on this forum,,, believe it, LOL. Meadow muffins and cow pies are the same. Now Road Apples, not sure unless that's the same as Horse Apples, then obviously it is similar, but from a horse, LOL!
