Have a couple of recommendations for this lovely part of the Blue Ridge:
Hot Springs, VA (nearest town)
Blowing Springs Campground
website: http://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/gwj/recreation/camping-cabins/recarea/?recid=73595&actid=29
Overall Rating: 8
Pros: Big rig friendly, large sites, lots of trees, good interior roads conditions, level sites, creek-side campsites, clean vault toilets and great well water (hand-pump).
Cons: No hook-ups.
Comments: 2 mi. from small country store (gas, ice, wood, necessities). Excellent trout fishing on creek. Nice creek-side hiking trail.
Rate: $ 12 nightly
Directions: From the Intersection of State Route 39 and US 220: Follow SR 39 west for about 9.25 miles to the campground entrance on the left.
Mp 86 on the Blue Ridge Parkway, Bedford, VA (nearest town)
Peaks of Otter Campground
website: https://www.nps.gov/blri/planyourvisit/camping.htm
Overall Rating: 8
Pros: Large sites, lots of trees, good interior roads conditions, level sites, clean flush toilet & sink in restrooms, good well water, dump station, separate generator-free loop.
