Can whimps start a generator?

I can only start a chainsaw on a rare day. I can't ever seem to get my weed whacker started. How easy/hard is it to start a Honda 2000 generator? I want to dry camp. I hate to buy the generator then find out that I can't start it.
Thanks for any help and ideas.
Vicki

Like you, I can't reliably start any gas tools (and can never get the chainsaw started). I can start our Honda 2000 generator - it is really easy to operate.

I have no trouble starting my Honda 2000. A weed whacker, on the other hand, is frustration personified. Linda

Don't know about the Honda generator, but I had a weed whacker that was impossible to start. I hated it. Thankfully it was stolen out of my shed so I replaced it with an electric one.

They always start easily in the store!
Can you get one with an electric-start battery? Even my snow-blower had that!

When Jean and I were caravaning and she got sick, I had to go start hers a couple times. The first time I couldn't get it no matter what. I learned I had to make sure I kept the pull perfectly straight ... voila, no problems after that. Where it was sitting, I was angling it, and the connection wasn't being made properly. Different arm position, and it worked like a charm. But I certainly preferred my switch inside my rig... except on the cold days when I had to go out and prime the dang thing ... so having the switch wasn't useful then. But I did have the generator from Hell.

I have a Honda 2000. I use to be able to start it, but yesterday couldn't get it to start for the life of me. I'm going to try again today, with Beth's suggestion of keeping it level. Before, it was mounted on the rig so was at arm level. I may have to dump the gas out, since it's been in there more than a year.
I also cannot start a weedwacker or chain saw. So I bought an electric of each. That's why I have to start my generator, so I don't have to run 4 or 5 extention cords.

If you haven't started your Genny in that long and haven't used any kind of gas preservative chances are that your carb is gummed up (don't ask me how I know). A trip to a shop that can clean it might be in order.

Thanks, Mitch, for the article. I've bookmarked it. I decided to dump the gas....there was only a tiny bit, just enough to reflect when I looked. So, once I filled it up, it started like it use to! My answer to the topic question is.....YES, this whimp can start a EU 2000 generator and I recommend it.
