Securing my awning.

Has anyone seen something out there to secure my awning while traveling? I have straps that secure the support arms. I have a flexible metal cover that curves around the awning, once it's rolled all the way up. If it gets windy on the road, then that cover has blown up and then the awning sucks out from under it.

Is there any way to get a bungee cord around it?

I always wrapped bungee cords around the awning legs to keep it from opening up while driving.

I have velcro straps that I put around the legs.

I used Velcro straps on the legs of my awning on the 5th wheel too. Have not noticed any problems with the MH yet, but if it starts to look like might come loose, will use Velcro again.

We've used good old fashion clothes line rope to tie the awning arms....works for us....

It's not the arms that need to be secured, but that has been a problem in the past, before I started securing them with those velcro straps. It's the awning itself. I did find some on the Camping World website. They come in white or black and attach to the roof and side, below the awning, I believe. I will call them and make sure they have one at the Grand Rapids store before I leave here. I will have time to attach it when I get to IA. I used tape when I was desperate and it ripped my rubber roof, which I had to patch

It sounds like your awning is missing the ratcheting mechanism that keeps it rolled up. Does yours have a catch that you have to release before it will come undone? Maybe that is missing or broken. Mine rolls up so tightly and locks with the ratcheting mechanism it couldn't possibly unroll or fill with air as you drive.
Tying it would work, but it might be something that is just not working correctly.

You're so smart, Judy! That lock is broken, but at this point, I think it would be cheaper to secure it another way. A friend of mine looked at it and we think maybe we can devise something. Those clamps run about $50
